- Operation Just Cause was the 1989 United States invasion of Panama to depose Manuel Noriega, the military dictator who had become a major drug trafficker in the region. The operation began on December 20, 1989, and lasted until January 31, 1990. The United States, with the support of several Latin American countries, mobilized over 27,000 troops to overthrow Noriega, who was then arrested and later extradited to the United States to stand trial. The operation resulted in the deaths of several hundred Panamanians and 23 U.S. service members. The invasion marked the beginning of a new era in Panamanian history and helped to reestablish democracy in the country.

That's what sets them apart from SEALs....They have a strong base as an infantry soldier long before they joined the unit...

@@yashjoseph3544 even tier 2 SEALs don’t get it. I’ve known a few and personally know one rather well. They don’t get grunt life. Most of the SF guys I’ve known get it (the 18X guys less so).

I was a 19 yr old Infantryman during OJC. Cco 5/87 Inf, 193rd Inf Bde, TASK FORCE BAYONET. It was my first combat tour.(second was Desert Storm with the 101st. Great times.

I love the old mission stories from the true heros who actually lived it. My favorite by far.
They used to move Noriega all around Dade & Broward county jails all the time so no one knew exactly where he was being kept. I would head out early in the mornings to go fishing and there would be convoys of fifty or more law enforcement vehicles escorting several white vans. Noriega was in one of those vans.
Crazy cuz after FL he ended up in the same prison We hit ..Rencer.
A prime example of why we should keep out of the affairs of other nations. Since Korea it has not gone well.

Shawn you should get some of the Rangers on the show that hit the Toccoman airport. Since they had some crazy stories about how a commercial flight landed right around the time that the 3/75th Rangers started the assault on the airport. From what I understand it was a crazy situation and tourists running around the airport trying to avoid the PDF and the Rangers who were there to secure the airport and keep any of the officials from boarding a private aircraft to escape the Americans. Nobody ended up taking an unscheduled flight but they did get some heavy resistance from the PDF and after that they were tasked with raiding the Commedencia the headquarters of the PDF and a large barracks facility.
And those of us who Jumped in (ya I know, it wasnt under fire) on the 10th from Division. We went to "JOTB" for a week or so then went hot..Hit a few spots like Madden Damn and Rencer Prison..Thats a fucking story right there..Cloned after son toy. 3/504 bitches. Was a hell of a night.
Puff the magic dragon made light work outta those barracks I assure you. You could look up from the inside and the ceiling looked as if it had its own private star system, planets and all... puff don't play!!!!

The Infantry- light fighter - are the heart of any operation. Any special operations soldier knows when the music 🎶 stops- nothing better than 40 man Ranger or light infantry platoon of 19yo's ready to do whatever is required.
This makes the best of what’s around!

I was telling one of my friends the other day that you can tell the guys who have actually done stuff...because they don't talk about it. They talk about everything that went wrong, all the mistakes that were made, the stupid stuff people did, etc. The guys who haven't actually done anything...tend to be the ones who talk about "how badass" they were, all the great stuff they did, etc. It's a pretty easy litmus test. You can see it in most of Ryan's guests - they're not chest-thumping, they're explaining all the times they f'ed up and all the stuff that went pear-shaped.
These clips are great ! I love the SR show but they are 3-4 hours long ! I don't have 2 hours to get to the good stuff !

These stories are incredible. I was lucky enough to have a neighbor who served as a plumber in Panama at this time who had a few amazing stories. The Presidential letters on his mantle let me know that this was some top level plumbing.

When I went into the Corps in 2000 there were still a bunch of guys that were in Panama and their stories always made it sound like it was the biggest shit show that you can imagine.
It was. I was waiting for someone in the comments section to acknowledge that fact.
Shit show for the Marines who they didn’t let do anything, so the marines fired up some empty buildings and then talked Shit like they had some real hard shit to do.
Well, it kinda the never mentioned secret narrative of an AIRBORNE mass attack. If the paratroopers don't know what's going on, then the enemy sure as shit doesn't know, and can you imagine what it must be like from the enemy's perspective...a bunch of American C-141' s are coming in and around 500 feet and pooping out soldiers, and as quickly as they came out, they disappeared into the surrounding terrain and you have no idea what or where they are now...imagine that..many took uniform off and put on civilian clothes. The ones who didn't paid the price...shit show? Sure. But it's a shit show that highly effective.

Did my time at that tank farm Oct 88 to Jan 89 Semper fi marine corp infantry. Really bringing back some memories. PDF we called them. Shit started getting crazy on my tad when I was there kinda kept under the rug though.

I've always been interested in the Panama Deception
My neighbor was in Noreiga's military, I like to listen to his stories, especially his jungle training stories
My dad was in Panama but with the US army 🇵🇷🇺🇸. deception is an interesting choice of words.
I went through basic in 93 and one of my DS had a gold star on his jump wings from doing a combat jump in Panama and I'm pretty sure he said he went to Grenada also.

I haven't watched this yet, but will. I was in the 193rd INF BDE (Panama) from 87-91. Before, during and after JC. There is a much, much bigger story to tell about what was going on that is no longer an OPSEC issue, but has never really been discussed in public. The stuff movies are made of and actually, if you READ the book (the movie was good too) Clear & Present Danger, that was mostly true and was based on my unit. Again, the book has specifics to the small details even mentioning by different name the guy who shined our boots (Panamanian, RIP). Salute to any members of my military family out there from Bogota.

Thank you. I was there A company 4/325 82nd Abn. 30 days of combat fighting the crazy Dignity batallions as we also fought the Battalion 2000 , their airborne batallion.
We also helped Saddam slide into power, and we trained Osama Bin Laden as a young lieutenant to fight the Russians. Seems we do a lot of that “taking power back”.
I'm wondering if Ukraine is the next place to go.. maybe in 10 or 20 years

Here’s a good rule of thumb when thinking o out geopolitical strategy: if they’ve got mass resources, they will have a puppet government and massive corruption. If they are geographically placed near a superpower, they will have a puppet government and massive corruption. It’s the way of the world.

As a former 0311, I can confirm the accuracy of such gaggle fucks happening on a regular basis. It gets even worse when we had to use our PVS-7's. Much worse. Lol

This Guy talks like he was in a Turd Infantry unit. Because he is trying to make the grunts sound stupid, witch they are not. So he went to the Unit, which got the Very best of everything! When I was in Regiment I remember getting the best equipment, the Best training that could be had. I happened to be stationed on Kobbe during Just Cause. I remember the 7th ID coming down to Panama to Help. In my opinion they Did a Good Job. They did what they were asked to do.
When I see gents like this talk, I think to myself, he’s who our veterans need to run the post mental health opp review and supplementation. Which doesn’t exist by the way.
One smart team cat - any team, from pre 1980 should be interviewing, processing and writing anew, our entire veteran, active, decommissioned military health regimen. Health to depart the warrior adrenal, and rehab back into the family metric that will lead to civilian replanting. It’s not rocket science to care for our lions.
