Enjoyed the video with another lovely study of the Beacon. The watercolur set seems really good value and would make a great gift. Liked the finish and texture on the mounting board. Cheers 😊
Looks like a very decent set of watercolours - the Chinese and Japanese make great watercolours generally. And of course, you make great use of them; you're not a watercolour painter, you say - but you sure COULD be, however frustrating you find having to wait for washes to dry. Chinese White is of course very weak on its own - I might want to supplement it with Titanium, but for the danger of turning it into gouache ... Good to see Basil again - have you ever painted him, I wonder?
Lovely video Andrew. Be great if they did a smaller set. So many colours! It did look like you've been eating lots of sweets. 😂 Not only have you inspired me to start sketching outdoors but you inspired me to start my own youtube channel. The Thriplow with oil bars one mentions you. Thanks again. ❤🎨🙏
@@RobertJonesWightpaintThank you so much. 🙏🥰 It's been a steep learning curve the last 6 months. I discovered Andrews work & channel a couple of years ago (over the Christmas holiday period) & became completely hooked of course. It made me want to leave the studio & return to a sketchbook practice & the landscape I love & enjoy being in. Two years later here I am with a new channel rediscovering sketching and building my confidence. Thank you again for your support .🙏
You did an amazing job with these watercolours on mount board! I wonder how lightfastness they would be? Great for sketchbook and working out ideas anyway, and the pigment intensity certainly looks very good.
i've used black mount board for acrylic using it as watercolour in the first layers and building up to get a lot of depth. Leary of oriental art brands as I bought a set of 'artists' pencil crayons when I first started. Lots of pigment but I did a proper 8 month windowsill test and they performed as well as the £12.99 for 100 pencils cheap and cheerful childrens Let's Create range from W.H.Smith! :D These days I'd rather have less for my £ but stick to the well known European Brands. Sennelier Chinese White (tube) is the strongest I've found or a white Derwent Inktense Stick.
I have tried these watercolors, good set. Your painting was great and loved seeing the horses on the beach.
Thanks so much 😊
Whatever the subject or medium, I always enjoy and am inspired by your videos! Thanks!
Awesome, thank you so much Carol

Love the painting, mount board gives it a lovely quality. The paints look great, I'd be like a kid in a sweetshop!
Thanks Frankie. All those lovely colours are difficult to resist

Thank you very much - only time will tell about the lightfastness properties but still good for sketchbook work

It will be interesting to see how you reduce the colour choices to something more workable.
Yes I agree with that
