This is a great video taking a newer angle on a seller. People need to know this sort of stuff as well to avoid. So I feel I must thank you for all those out there who don't know enough to avoid things like this. Keep up the great work!
For an even better value for the money for very cheap, I put together a gaming PC with a Core 2 Quad Q9550 CPU which is also 4 cores 4 threads, 4 gb ram, and a GTX 570. For me, those Core 2 Quads still perform well even today. They are like the 0th gen core i7s.
It looks like he did a build, have a bunch of good leftover parts (changed his mind on the case and couldn't return it), then bought the cheapest possible parts required to assemble another machine in order to sell it and recoup some of the cost
I feel like they either got random parts as gifts, or had NO idea what the hell they were doing... I had a few people when I worked at Micro Center come in with build lists kinda like this, and it often took a bit to convince them that they could do better. And I think your statement of "if you're spending twice as much on your case as you are on your CPU, there's a problem" is generally accurate... The only time I can think of it not really being crazy is if you're building a dual system in the Corsair 1000D, and getting a 3900X, then you have a $1000 case with a $500 CPU. But then you're also likely spending $2-5k on the total build, and likely a secondary streaming system in the mITX part... Special case.
Im looking at starting a pc building service on fb marketplace here in uk, let me know if this sounds good, my plan is starting with a lower end gaming pc about £400 selling for about £500/600 then creating a pc for about 700, selling for a little more slowly working up to more expensive builds
Sometimes an odd hardware paring has an appropriate purpose. Though from your perspective it may not be obvious. For example I have: i5 7600k at 4.4ghz 32gb Ram 3000mhz Three 500gb ssds 4tb hdd RX 480 8gb gpu H100i v2 cooler Air 540 case. I use my pc for digital art as well as gaming .
I thought I got a good 100 Euro deal-combo on an i3 8100 with a Z370-I motherboard. Combined it with a 50 euro fractal design node 202, a 40 Euro 350W Bequiet Sfx-Psu, 2x250 Samsung ssds I had laying around an a set of new Corsair vengeance 3200Mhz 2x8gb. I use it as a media-pc, so I think the ram might be little overkill. Might combine it with a gpu and an i5 in the future.
Currently in my country you can build a ryzen 7 3700x with an x570 motherboard and rtx 2070 also 1Tb Kingston m.2 nvme and 6Tb red hdd with 16gbs of ram at 3200mhz all of those cost around 1300 in my country currency.

I know what to look for but I know there is a lot of people out there that don't however seeing you rip these people to shreds for these choices and prices always gives me a chuckle because it, excuse my french, Pisses me off that they would do things this way. Hell I had a system I built just trying to make a hundred bucks on by finding deals and piecing a decent pc together and it didn't sell for so long I had to take a 100 dollar loss but I'd rather do that than try to scam someone trying to get into pc's I want to make sure if someone buys a rig from me they are happy with the whole process and will have no remorse buying from me. But I do have to turn a profit or im going to have to stop and I really hate to because I love putting systems together and testing, overclocking, and making them look as pretty as I can there's a satisfaction knowing I built a good system especially if someone else is getting good use out of it.
I really hate these people that try to sucker in people with no PC knowledge. I got ripped off once and thats when I started learning and built my own.
One thing to note in all these videos is that nobody buys things on facebook marketplace for list price. I have sold probably 2000 dollars of random stuff on marketplace and I have never gotten an offer for a piece of tech that was more than 65% of the asking price. While I agree this system is stupid, many sellers artificially inflate their price or descriptions just so they can get closer to the market value of the tech. By market value I mean ebay pricing. Many people just dont want to sell on ebay. I have personally held on to a 900 dollar laptop for a month and a half because I never got an offer over 350. Then someone offered 400 and I sold it to them.
So, let's say I want to sell my old system. FX 6350 processor, 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz, ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard, Thermaltake Overseer RXi chasis, a Hyper212 EVO CPU cooler, and a pretty basic 500W power supply (no, I don't think it's bronze+ or higher certified :( ). Considering it can't do much these days, it would just make a halfway-decent computer to sit around in a home and be used for writing documents or browsing the web. Maybe a game or 2. MAYBE. Clearly though, the system lacks any GPU or Storage. So, I was thinking of pricing things as follows: Fx 6350: $25 ASUS M5A97 R2.0: $30 Hyper 212 EVO: $10 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz: $20 Thermaltake Overseer RXi chasis: $10 (low because power button not working due to a loose wire; easily fixable, but I don't have the tools to do so). My questions then to the comments is: does this seem a fair price? (total: $95) I am assuming I can't go higher.
I'm basically the polar opposite of this guy. When I first built my PC I got literally the cheapest parts I could find so that I could afford a decent mid range CPU and GPU. This guy needs to get his priorities straight. I do too, but not as much as this guy does.
No one talks that we are stuck at 1080p/60+fps for 10+ years to be the "mainstream" thing ($200) ,companies milking us and we are let them doing it.Is time to move on from 2020 and beyond to be 1440p/60+fps "mainstream" thing ($200).I refuse to pay more than $200 in 2020 for 1440p/60+fps gaming.Only 4 products are in that price range 1) gtx 1660 super, 2) gtx 1660, 3) rx 5500 xt, 4) rx 590.
It's kind of ridiculous. People trying to sell ancient shit at insane prices. "GAMING LAPTOP, $1000!" and it's a 1050 with an 8th gen i5 and 8gb ram "RuNS EvReY GaME MaX sETTinGs!"
The real thing here when we talk about the rams, its not really the fact he spent as much on the rams then he did on is cpu, but rather the fact he used 3200mhz on an h310 mobo!!!!!! He can’t even use the ram at the speed he paid for
Dell optiplex and a cheap graphics card is all you're going to get with 300 bucks if you want a pc. But I recommend buying a console if you only want to spend 300 dollars for a gaming setup if you haven't already yet.
Remember when friend of mine was selling 4 years old laptop, and he listed it 100$ less from what he paid for it. I told him that his laptop worth 100$ total, not 600$ as he asked for it, and answer was: Why? I just used it for 10 times total, and then left laptop to collect dust on shelf, plus i need 600$ for new one 😂😂😂😂 Should i mention he still has it after a year trying to sell it 😂😂😂
My guess: His custom water loop broke and he lost his x570 board. So he took the board, chip and GPU out, swapped it with what he had laying around or upgraded from and put it up to make his money back! I am the Great CARNAC!
I think these sellers just want to try to make their prices so high by marking up the prices that they bought to assemble their custom PC that they purchased when the seller bought it brand new, not realizing the overall price value drops over time.
Yep, and would crush the 8100 for keeping the frame rates high. pcpartpicker.com/user/test19/saved/zcytpg just pretend the 2200G is the 1600 AF, and then you have a build that will play a bit long that the one in the video for less than a third of the price!
Bahahaha. I see this all the time. I love it when people have ads up, like an inferior pc to the one you're selling, and they offer you less then what they're asking for theirs.
Even sillier, he is only asking $40 for a 1/2TB MX500 SSD! Which is barely 2 years old! (judging by the amount he paid for it, can't be more than a year old!)
Greg: _sees ridiculous PC listing_

Then someone offered 400 and I sold it to them.
Greg : Parent to child - WE ARE SELLING THAT PC OF YOURS PUT UP AN AD NOW!!! Child that doesnt want to sell PC: Its listed DAD!
lol, he mounted the cpu fans to both blow in towards the cpu-cooler fins xD
So, I was thinking of pricing things as follows:
Fx 6350: $25
ASUS M5A97 R2.0: $30
Hyper 212 EVO: $10
16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz: $20
Thermaltake Overseer RXi chasis: $10 (low because power button not working due to a loose wire; easily fixable, but I don't have the tools to do so).
My questions then to the comments is: does this seem a fair price? (total: $95) I am assuming I can't go higher.
There is a comparable system right now on Craigslist here in my town that has a asking price of $450.
Full specs?
🤣🤣🤣
I gotta ask. How hard do you have to look to find these people?
You'll be waiting a long time. Maybe once APUs get better but 1440p will be a while. The age of the $200 low-end GPU is pretty much over.
I think he was trying to cash in on the rgb craze
DAN WANTS YOU TO CONSIDER THE 1050ti EVERYONE! but seriously...
MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro | MSI B450-A PRO ATX AM4 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Corsair | Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Seagate 4 TB 3.5"HDD | Total: $1864.53
I built $300 rigs that would absolutely destroy this rig.
He can’t even use the ram at the speed he paid for
This guy totally just swapped out the CPU and GPU for some cheap ones.
Yea, thats just dumb. My ACER Nitro 5 has an i5 9300H with a GTX 1050 and it cost about $650 from Best Buy 6+ months ago. $1800 is just dumb.
i have a 300 dollar budget what should be the specs
Dell optiplex and a cheap graphics card is all you're going to get with 300 bucks if you want a pc. But I recommend buying a console if you only want to spend 300 dollars for a gaming setup if you haven't already yet.
Wouldn't it make more sense to change the CPU, motherboard and GPU instead of the rest?
Remember when friend of mine was selling 4 years old laptop, and he listed it 100$ less from what he paid for it. I told him that his laptop worth 100$ total, not 600$ as he asked for it, and answer was: Why? I just used it for 10 times total, and then left laptop to collect dust on shelf, plus i need 600$ for new one 😂😂😂😂 Should i mention he still has it after a year trying to sell it 😂😂😂
the guy is better off stripping the whole system and selling it as parts. maybe keep a few if you are willing to build a new one
*When your case costs more than your cpu*
My guess: His custom water loop broke and he lost his x570 board. So he took the board, chip and GPU out, swapped it with what he had laying around or upgraded from and put it up to make his money back! I am the Great CARNAC!
I think these sellers just want to try to make their prices so high by marking up the prices that they bought to assemble their custom PC that they purchased when the seller bought it brand new, not realizing the overall price value drops over time.
Thing is people list these because people actually pay ridiculous amounts to buy a sketchy rgb pc
I was looking through facebook marketplace the other day and people are delusional with their pricing.
yes.
isnt there a new R5 1600 af for around $85
Yep, and would crush the 8100 for keeping the frame rates high.
pcpartpicker.com/user/test19/saved/zcytpg
just pretend the 2200G is the 1600 AF, and then you have a build that will play a bit long that the one in the video for less than a third of the price!
Those 14 dislikes are from sellers who want to scam ppl
Bahahaha. I see this all the time. I love it when people have ads up, like an inferior pc to the one you're selling, and they offer you less then what they're asking for theirs.
Your getting sued again 😂😂
Even sillier, he is only asking $40 for a 1/2TB MX500 SSD!
Which is barely 2 years old! (judging by the amount he paid for it, can't be more than a year old!)
