Oh god i wish I had found you sooner
This is so fascinating. I love your videos 💖
Thank you :)
this really is some of the best content i've watched on gems and minerals. every episode i learn something absolutely new to me about minerals. and it's presented so well compared the rest of my knowledge which was presented to me by a blistering array of accents missing teeth and levels of intoxication or exaustion. it's refreshing to see someone in the studio close up to super super quality stones with great cameras and production values.
i love this channel
This video played as an ad for a steven universe video i was watching...well played

Pearls are made from calcium bicarbonate water and conchiolin. Kaolin how you pronounced it, sounds like the main clay composite in porcelain. Just so people don’t get confused**

Heyo!
Tell me more about colored pearls. I have a green and violet set of "black pearls" in the pacific north west, is there something specific about location or breed that determines a pearl's color?
Yes, varieties of pearls range in color by species and somewhat by local conditions. Most freshwater pearls have a white, ivory, cream or yellowish body color but they can occur in pinkish, orangish and lavender colors as well, with varying iridescent colors complementing the body color. Saltwater pearls can range from white through cream, pale yellow, golden and chocolate colors as well as grey to black with modifying iridescent colors such as the green and violet (often referred to as peacock together) colors you describe. These are all natural colors, most of which are pastel hues, however pearls can be dyed, bleached, or irradiated to enhance their natural colors. Different types of oysters and mollusks produce different colors and types of pearls and they come from all corners of the globe. The most well-known nonwhite pearls are produced by the Pinctada maxima (golden South Sea pearls), the Pinctada margartifera (Tahitian pearls), the Pteria sterna (Cortez or Rainbow pearls) and Hyriopsis cumingii (lavender pearls).
What about my grandmother's pearls, from 1928. What are the chances of them being culturedm
Baroque music is also all over the place
Man, you gotta respect Logan for putting on Evan.
Ok I know very little about the period I only know the basics from my appreciation of music class in college
🦄

FLAPJACK!
FLAPJAAAAACK
I don’t get pearls nor do I find them pretty... even when women wear it. How is a white ball pretty?
DarkxPunk i believe the fascination with them is more about how they come to be. After that, they come in a variety and they’re one of the very few jewelry accessories that someone doesn’t have to modify, like diamonds or other gemstones. Wild guess. You should look up baroque pearls. They’re not round balls they’re asymmetrical.
...and if it isn't Baroque, don't fix it...
Your voice is very harsh.
Flapjack
so are pearls vegan?
