Another riparium build! What do you think of this one? I like how it turned out a lot. Also what should I stock it with (other than a betta)? I think I know what I want to do, but I'm curious what your thoughts are. Let me know!

I made my first vivarium this week and I give a good majority of the inspiration for it to your channel. It's a small start, a 10 gallon, that I used to house my ivory millipedes and isopods but it brought me so much joy creating and now fills we with pride and happiness whenever I get to view my animals enjoying a natural and beautiful habitat. Thanks for the channel, please never change.

“Average person uses five bottles of silicone a year” factoid actually just statistical error. Average person uses 0 bottles of silicone per year. Aquascape artist Tanner making aquarium, ripariums etc. and is using 5,000 bottles of silicone a year, is a statistical outlier adn should not have been counted.

Love your builds. This one's great as always.
Just wanna leave a quick trick here for aplying silikone, since I do that a lot at work.
To tape the edges to prevent squished out silicone to stick, where it doesnt has to, is always a good idea.
First of use a razor to cut the tip of the silicone tube to create smoother lines.
After you apllied the silicone to the inner edges, you should use a spray bottle filled with water and a bit of dish soap and sray it all over your silicone lines.
Then use a flat piece of wood with a right angle and grind that angle round to the diameter, that the distance of your two lines of tape are apart from each other. (You can also buy such tools made out of silicone)
Then use this tool to remove access silicone.
You can also dip that piece into a bowl of dish soap water before and in between. Remove silicone from the wood piece with a paper towel.
Will give you nice clean silicone lines, you don't need to clean up afterwards.
    Greetings from Germany

Would be pretty cool if you put bumblebee gobies in there, or maybe just one. They're so small size shouldn't be an issue, and they don't move too much so you'd need to find them every time you look at the set-up. Would compliment the whole thing quite well I think.

For livestock you can should try snails, shrimp or maybe an endler. If you water level was lower and you were able to cover the top of the aquarium you could put some vampire crabs in there, but then again they won't be active unless you have 100% humidity a lot of wet terrain to climb and explore. I'd stay away from small schooling fish since there's not enough room for them to dart around.
Can't really recommend any livestock for that small of a body of water, but I do have a suggestion on a plant you can use if you ever tire of scooping out floaters and that plant is pennywort. When grown on the surface of water the leaves of pennywort arrange themselves as small lily pads and they look much closer to actual lily pads than duckweed or water spangles. It also grows much slower which is a bonus in my book.

Josh Arnold if you buy cigarette filters (like 200 for $2) online or at a smoke shop, you can place the cotton filter in between two pierces of rock or wood. If you use liquid superglue (starbond is the best) it will smoke and harden instantly.

I was so excited for this to come out when he posted the sneak peek of the bare tank!!! I’d love to see animals in there. I bet shrimp are too jumpy. Minnows maybe?

For the setup since it's still young try adding afew shrimp then later in the future add some galaxy rasbora they would fit in well with the tank in my opinion

    Dear SerpaDesign,
I recently made a vivarium in a small tank and I noticed that a few days ago a few of the plants started dying. I used your instructions for the tropical substrate mix. I didn’t have a lot of grave for a false bottom and I couldn’t buy mesh to put on top of the gravel. Should I redesign the false bottom and replant the terrarium or should I just move the plants that are dying into separate containers/pots? Thanks for the help!
Your videos are great by the way and they inspire me to do things I wouldn’t normally do.

Check if the roots are okay. Some plants melt back in a new environment to later regrow even stronger once aclimated.

nice save with the tank :) the scape is great 💚
Do you plan to add snails or shrimps?
I tried a similar scape in my paludarium, still evolving 👍

Snails and shrimp would escape from this tank - wouldn't recommend either.

@@mscalucas yes your right 👍 some snails like apples snails but some are not going out? I'm not an expert :D my paludarium has a front panel, so I'm safe :)

a few CPD's would be awesome in that, not quite enough room for them though, fiddler crabs or maybe a dwarf crayfish? 2 gallons is tough to find things to stock

    Wow that’s looks awesome!
One thing tho: you might end up needed a thicker cap for the walstad because usually the soil expands and will leak out and dirty the water if the cap isn’t thick enough or the pebbles are too big😁

If you can find some, how about a group of Tire-track Nerite Snails?Rather interesting colored nerites because they have track-like stripes on their shells. They breed in brackish water but can perfectly live in freshwater.I own 3 of them to get rid of algae in my 30 gallon.

I think popular aquarium companies should make rimless options for there tanks because they do look better most of the time
