- There we go, guys! HSoB LNB with MarisaBlack! That was quite fast, like, just three days after release, and I'm still shocked after that. Positively, of course. Despite some minor failures and stuff, I'd call it a solid run (but never again... not with black gem, lmao). Enjoy~!

東方真珠島 ~ Hollow Song of Birds is a Touhou fan-game, programmed by raichu (developer of YKK, WNSP and BoSM), ido (TLC, MPP, RSS) and Shijimi Nono (Fairies of Sorcery and Spell Card Collection).
The game was announced on 12 February 2018 in a "Kaisendo Direct" video. Initial trial version have seen the sunlight on 12 May 2018, and full game release commenced on 28 January 2019. Extra stage is planned for somewhere in the spring.
I'm truly amazed for this game. Phenomenal work developers did, really. Aesthetics, graphics, system, patterns, music... Just, everything. I'm amazed.
The game's difficulty is around any other game's on Easy-Hard modes. On Lunatic, it even surpasses LoLK. That's no joke here. It seriously is that difficult, especially on later stages. I thought for a while that even LNB would be impossible to pull off.
Personally I felt in love with Stage 5 Boss, that's General Set. Those patterns are hella gimmicky and creative, it's just unbelievable. Not to mention quite nice stage layouts on Stages 5 and 6. Yes, they ARE difficult, but with some adjustments it could get fixed, and then it'd be dang perfect.
Horou is another boss being quite amazing. It still surprises me as that character would normally be Stage 2 boss or so. Uhh, who gave her those super abilities... Despite that, attacks were really fun to play. That's what really counts.
I'd say I'm done. For now. After making MarisaBlack LNB a reality, I feel like I need to make a little break from HSoB. Maybe I will do something extra later, and by that I mean perfect stage clears, timeouting some patterns or so. But, that's for later. ;)

This game is gorgeous. That slow pan of the sun rising at the end...that was poetry.
The Hollow Song of Birds...the fact that Horou used her last spell card and started to sing just as the final boss song dropped into a delicate piano portion nearly made me fall a tear.

Honestly though, good job. Black gem definitely makes things that much harder, and simply beating Lunatic without bombs is an impressive feat on its own.
i seriously thought ranran (stage 1 boss) is miko holding a mop and i was like "is that miko? is she on her day off?"
The theme for the stage 6 boss matched up beautifully with the final spellcard

Pretty sure Horou is supposed to be based off of Horus, an egyptian god.
She's based on Hermes Trismegistus. Torisumi = Trisme. The fact that she's an ibis suggests she's Thoth, not Horus.
I'm pretty sure Horou (Hollow) is a reference to the game's title

This game is pretty awesome, I just wish the boss sprites weren't so huge! They feel a little out of place with just how big they are.

Sorry for my comment (and bad english) but does anybody have a problem with the stage 4 midboss? After I defeated her, nothing happens, it's just background. Same in hard mode.
Ah right, I completely forgot! Apparently they couldn't update links on Freem, but they released fix for Stage 4.

Which do you think is worse in terms of sheer bullet density: HSoB stage 5, or SSS stage 5?
Both are dense. But in SSS you had respectively tinier hitbox. HSoB is harder in my eyes

I dont know this game so please explain to me why when u died in the first 10 minutes as marisa you havent lost your hearts? Is there a special mechanics for that or just plain old cheat engine?
When you meet certain requirements, you can face Last Word, aka Z Spell. It works just like in Touhou 8 - if you fail, card ends but you won't lose anything.

I downloaded recently, and the frame rate is shit as hell!!!
It lags
