    Baby shampoo is awesome for this to. You only need a small squirt for water water bottle. Use excess to squirt inside and outside of dive mask as well. Super clean mask

      I have heard others use baby shampoo, thanks for the tip!

    Investing in a water proof cover for car seat is priceless. You can get in your wetsuit at home and drive to dive site in your gear. And coming home also .

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! It doesn't get too hot on the way home? But if you were too a waterproof cover would be a solid buy.

      @@divespeareat if you are at a dive site that's not showing the goods and for example you can maybe drive 15 min up the road to another entry point. A seat cover is priceless because you can leave all your gear on .

      @@craigmills7280 That's a good case for having a seat cover. I personally always scope out the spot before gearing up to make sure I want to commit.

    I've just tried on my first wetsuit (open cell), needless to say it was still hardwork although your tips have already taken me a long way! One thing I noticed is my crotch area got fairly uncomfortable due to the tightness/compression and when I want to adjust it from the outside, it wouldn't work. Is this due to a new suit being tight or it's just something us guys will need to get use to? Also, is it normal to feel a bit restrictive in the breathing? My circulation is fine, just breathing feels a bit harder.

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Putting on your first open cell suit is definitely an experience. The crotch area is something you will generally have to get used to IMO, but I found that directing your =) upward and making sure you get into your suit naked helps. To your last point on breathing, it will always feel some level of compression/difficulty breathing but it shouldn't hinder you that much. I would say if it hinders you at or beyond 20% of your norm, then it is too tight.

    How do you dry your suit? For year I been using all different types of things in my bath tub. I'm thinking of pvc now.

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  ปีที่แล้ว

      I typically just hang it outside in the shade. Here are the steps I take:
      1. Flip it inside out so the neoprene is out
      2. Wait till the side facing up is dry, then flip it to the other side
      3. Once the exposed neoprene is dry (usually 30min-40min) I will flip it inside out and repeat the steps
      4. Once all dry, I either bring it inside or leave it in a storage box outside where it can stay relatively cool
      I have learned you don't want to leave your wetsuit out more than you need, especially in direct sunlight.

    When spearfishing, where do you keep your fishing tags/license?

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I keep my license in my bag on or near the shore or in the car that I took to the spot.

      hahah this is obviously not the only way to do it but from my experience this helps preserve the wetsuit over a long period.

    Any recommendations on meeting people who free dive in the SoCal area. I’m looking to push my limits and need someone who can help me improve. Is joining some sort of club the only way

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say joining a club or at least joining a club's facebook group (you don't have to be a member sometimes) would be the best way. OC Spearos is a club you could consider joining. There are plenty of very experienced divers and most seem to be very friendly.
      Here is a link to the OC Spearos FB group: facebook.com/groups/471863019661220

    yo that tail that you clip in, does that need to be tight or lose, i feel like mine is too tight on my groin area haha, does it need to be a bit tight or?

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does feel snug but it shouldn't feel constricting. Make sure your pointer is pointing up when you strap in =)

    I once tried to wear a wetsuit similar to this one and as I was passing my head through the neck I kinda got stuck and almost had a full on panic attack, I guess because I had trouble breathing as the suit was pretty much air tight at this point as I wass passing my head through the opening and gave me a hard time breathing.
    I'll try this technique and hopefully it will be easier!

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ooo yea it could definitely be tricky since open cell wet suits tend to stick very easily if you little to no lube. Definitely opted for more lube if you are unsure if it can slide down.

    What is that puncho good for? Maybe if you come out of cold water this can hide the actual cold of water 😂

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess it could, but the main reason is it makes it easier to change in public.

    I'd love to see a dive at the cove along southernmost section of Paseo del Mar, where there's a little island. Google Maps calls it Christmas Tree Cove, but we used to call it Crystal Cove. About a mile and a half north of the Starbucks at the end of Hawthorne. Very scenic underwater features. Love your vids. Thank you!

      Appreciate the expert local tips! I have seen that area on Google Maps to explore. The parking situation seems a bit tricky from what I see online. Any tips there?

    Will this work for riding jet ski in the 40 degree?

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't say confidently if it would but I want to say a 5mm or 7mm should be ok. In my opinion sitting with an open cell wetsuit is not very comfortable because there is an interesting suction that happens on your butt. I would recommend a closed cell based on that alone.

    Do you need to have nothing on underneath these open cell type wetsuits? I’d like to wear a bathing suit- can I?

    • @divespeareat
      @divespeareat  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can wear a bathing suit underneath but you will probably leave it behind after a couple dives. The suit underneath could get bundled up and/or give you rashes. I have always worn my open cell wetsuits with nothing underneath.
