You're in luck, because I'm going to be making a fan made video of the Macabre experiment revolving around squidward and you know what kind of creepypasta I'm talking about? (Squidward's suicide)
what really sells the Not Normal episode is the voice Tom Kenny uses for the normalised Spongebob which is just a slightly altered variant of Kenny's speaking voice.
The whole point of SpongeBob was to show that just because you have to grow up, doesn't necessarily mean you have to give up your sense of childlike wonder. So to see SpongeBob give in to the pressures of society (or more precisely Squidward) and conformed himself to be what was considered "normal" was honestly really sad.
As an artist i thought it was interesting that the characters visually become less distinct and recognisable from sillohette as they become more normal, their features are straightened out and cant be fully recognised from their silhouette which in cartoon character design is an important aspect. The characters being normal fundamentally breaks the SpongeBob cartoon world
Even if it is egotistical, Squidward self portraiting is actually good, as seen in the art school video, Squidward makes amazing art when he creates for himself, and he doesn’t really show off his portraits at all to the public, so it’s not only to inflate his ego
right... i mean it could be up to interpretation, but i think self portraits are a great way to explore and learn more about yourself and how you see yourself in the mirror.
I think Squidward meant Spongebob to become normal as just reducing the insanity of his lifestyle. It's like just removing brown parts of banana, but Spongebob took it as if the entire banana is bad due to having brown parts (the entire banana is his personality and the brown parts are flaws), but Squidward should be blamed here too since he haven't specifically said what should be changed in Spongebob's lifestyle to be considered as sane individual
In my unhinged opinion, the normal tape was used by a cult to indoctrinate members, just somehow spongebob found it and got indoctrinated on accident, also getting squidward as well.
It’s crazy how in depth you were able to go on this one episode. Breaking it down made me see Squidward really differently, like I’d never think an insult from him could have so much further meaning and be connected to social media and lifestyle influencers. Also the atmosphere in this video was top notch, especially liked the music and muted sound effects around 11:14

Basically, the thing Squidward said about there being 2 kinds of people is a textbook example of the Black-or-White/False Dilemma fallacy. (Essentially, the fabrication that there’s 2 options when there’s truly more than 2.)
The bigger, more important takeaway I'd take from the episode isn't that normal is bad, but rather that you shouldn't shed away everything that makes you who you are in pursuit of normalcy. Sometimes people absolutely should change, there are people out there who aren't just rude, but outright abusive and even criminal. There is such a thing as conforming to society being a positive. However, the big important thing to keep in mind is that you don't need to take it to an extreme. You don't need to erase yourself to fit in. You don't need to abandon everything that gives you joy in life such as your passions and the time you spend with others. Sometimes, just being yourself is normal enough. If what you are doing isn't truly hurting anyone or breaking any laws, don't worry about other people not approving. Don't let their subjective standards of normalcy define how you are and aren't allowed to live your life.
So "Normal" SpongeBob doesn't work as a _creative_ and _soulful_ frycook, and instead makes a computer do it all for him through typing in prompts? GEE, THAT SOUNDS AWFULLY FAMILIAR REGARDING RECENT EVENTS, G'AY LUIGI?
I think part of the problem is also people are so different from each other that its not always easy for everyone to accept each other but I think ultimately no one wants to conform to society. Being a part of society can aid us as a species but it limits us as individuals
Rookie mistake there: people don't follow society. They are forced to abide by its rules and act as if they were a number of a higher game in which the elites get to decide for them.

14:40 I do wanna point out I think you’re missing the point, Squidward wasn’t upset at SpongeBob solely because he was up to his hijinks, it was because it was done so early. Imagine you wake and and the first thing you hear outta bed is your neighbor making some noise. Also, I think it’s worth pointing out that Squidward said “It’s ok to be a little different”. So it’s clear his take on normalcy isn’t as boring or dull as the video’s. Also Tbf Squidward puts up with so much shit I feel like it’s kinda fair for him to be fed up with it.
I think you're also forgetting that spongebob took it to heart and even ask him "how do I become normal" honestly wanting to be better, but he kicks him out rudely. Also when he said "it's OK to be a little different" it's hypocrite because spongebob was also being different from him waking up in the morning instead of sleeping. That's why at the end of the episode he becomes normal. He even knew what he was doing was abnormal just as much as spongebob!! Also THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!!!
Ima doomer and I can just say is, i never really had a fullfilling life. Never had any friends, homeschooled, bipolar disorder and depression i make slice slice marks on my arms. I wake up, take meds, eat, sleep repeat. I live as a shut in, lonely and bitter. 33 years old and single my daughter died a month before she was born in 2017 and my girlfriend who i broke up slightly after died in 2021. I have never been able to get over it. I tried to delete myself last week but broke down and cried because i couldnt go through with it.
Growing up as an undiagnosed autistic woman i related to this episode hard. I was always trying to be 'normal' it was exhausting. After years of masking, i eventually hit a burnout that caused me to have a mental breakdown. This caused me to start the journey of self acceptance. I'm not 100% there yet, but I now realize it's okay to not be 'normal' It's okay to be yourself. Even though i do still get ostracized, I'm at least happy with myself, and that's all I could ever ask for. Thank you for creating this video, i really enjoyed it!
5:31 I notice you bring up squidward being abnormal, i feel like they actually touch up on that in the same episode. when spongebob becomes "normal" and squidward tries to have a conversation with him he just cant keep up, and spongebob ends up hurting squidward in the same way squidward hurt spongebob early in the episode, with the ending having normal spongebob scared out of his normal-ness by now normal squidward. The show is telling us squidward is abnormal too, even if he doesnt see himself that way, so yes you are right he isnt normal, and the show isnt telling us he is. ...also really great video i never really thought i would think so critically about this episode, but normality is a really fascinating topic so i guess it makes sense theres a lot to talk about. (Listen to Normalize by Mother Mother, amazing song) Edit: also sorry for yapping Edit 2: no i didnt finish the video before writing the first paragraph... my bad
isn't it crazy how one of the best episodes of the entire series (imo) isn't from S1-3. I just can't agree with the notion that "everything after the movie was shit"
Fun fact. I found this video right after have a conversation with somebody about how it is impossible to be normal becuse what is "normal" changes from person to person. And then we saw that intro.
It actually frustrates me when people say that they "relate" to Squidward, because from my perspective Spongebob as a show has gone out of it's way many times to point out why people in society should be LESS like Squidward and MORE like Spongebob. The message Spongebob gives is that you should be your true self, and Squidward never is because of his ego. This episode perfectly demonstrates why Squidward is wrong.
This made me realise that squidward is a really terrible person 😭 I hope you make a character analysis on him the next chance you get, it would be interesting
everytime i see someone say "we get older we understand Squidward" i just roll my eyes. Like dude literally pulled some of the most cruelest shit on Spongebob, when all he did was annoy him a little
@@somemadnessfan4763”Annoy him a little” The cruelest thing being, what? Saying he’s not normal? Spongebob destroyed his house and hobbies multiple times, embarrassed him in front of the entire town, got his only day off permanently replaced with community service, and stalks him on the daily. It’s really disingenous to say all Spongebob did was be a little annoying.
It really scares me when I or everyone do the same recycle. That would mentally drive me insane, worse if your at school or at job and there's no fun in it, it feels like your wasting your life or time for nothing. My opinion on mental conditions like ADHD What if it's not a condition
This brought tears into my eyes. My entire adolescents I attempted to be "normal" for my parents. I lost sight of who I was and became an obsessive, anxiety, sleep deprived loner in closed doors. Yesterday I turned 18 and mentally snapped as I began to act even more "normal" by talking about taxes, work, anything that would make others view me as an "adult" while I also felt a deep pit in my stomach thinking I would need to stop watching anything "cartoon" related or things that I used to like. Today I searched up something psychology related in order to seem "productive" and "studious" which is when this video popped up and played as I cleaned my birds cage. I really needed this video and I will try to act as I used too before and the way I feel is "right" for me, not others such as my family or counselors. They might hate me for it but its worth a shot.
Dude, this would go so hard as an analog series where you do a bunch of SpongeBob deep dives but they all kind of branch into the analog through the subject matter/intros
As a furry, I've seen first hand how damaging it can be to be otherized. If I could give a tip to anyone afraid to be themselves, I would say to be confident in what you like. Most of the time, people find those like furries weird because of stereotypes and misinformation. So, by being upfront about who you are, you can serve to debunk that, while also potentially befriending those with similar interests who were too afraid to tell you without knowing you were eachother's normal. And if some people still refuse to like you, just leave. You don't owe ignorance anything. But there will always be more people than you out there that are your normal
5:58 was my favorite part, that line is so deep considering SpongeBob is still a kids show at the end of the day. It's like Squidward was talking directly to me. Definitely relate to being singled out kinda like SpongeBob in this situation.
(i made this comment before finishing the video, around 7:30.) i feel like this, as an autistic person, i see myself as an alien from other people, even though i've seen other people who act exactly like me i still feel, just different, its why i dont really talk to people, because it feels unnatural to me, what they are doing, what they are saying, it just feels off, but i've fully accepted that im just different, not weird, but different, still hate the feeling though.
I know what you mean, I know the exact feeling really. I had this feeling like a year or two ago, but something changed. I don't know what, or when, but something changed. I don't know if this was something I grew out of or just wanting to seek more knowledge, but I wanted to talk to more people when it came to my TH-cam videos. So I made a discord, and made this video. I hope this feeling isnt forever, and I hope maybe one day I could create a space for people who have a hard talk talking to others

My favorite thing is Minecraft and I’m 27 and a teacher. I’ve gotten crap from other teachers telling me how immature I am and for how my classroom looks. But here’s the thing if I’m gonna spend eight hours in a classroom with no windows I’m going to decorate it in a way that makes me happy.
fully agree, I hope they dont continue to act in that manner. I really feel like people don't understand something they tend to judge it more :(
@@FlowerKidLive ha. Thank you. They’ve been like that for two years now. Doubt it will change but the good thing is that I relate to students more than they can. And as a case manager, that’s one of the most important parts of my job.

OMG THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH IT MEANS ALOT HOLY MOLY
[10:12]"this is more than just hell, it's reality for some people." Is that implying that reality is worse than hell?
implying that reality is hell
Sadly, and if you look at it, its the cronies of cronyism that causes and enables it, like look they control corporations, governments who fund schools, schools who push these ideas into people, and shady practices, all I am saying is we need transparency
It's an ironic plus into the even worser layers of hell no one wants to fully fall under and not get back up from: *Ceasing whatever multifaceted passion that makes life worth living through it, despite the equilibrations of responsible living that would come... That's what the 1st SB film also taught me/hold on to (Most anomalies are the closest thing of comfort you really have under all of the ironic abhorrent uncertainty of "nOrMaL"... I would know)*
I mean, who knows... There can be abnormalities, certain impossible dreams, that may innovate the world someday for the greatest good and not always bad... Hell, some of the things we use today are made by people who may have been shunned, or telling them it's not possible and to stick to the old by the book big guy from upstairs tells you should always be in order... People back then devalued the same thing in regards to flying machines, overall technology and ideas not once thought of... Look where we are now of course...
Regardless of the most doubtfully frightened cornered position that I am in, however laid back or some Anomalous Mcspazintron that I may appear to others, in my heart I STILL desire to stick to my own inventories so as long as I am not hurting anybody while evolving.
Films like "Robots" and "Meet the Robinsons" have long stuck with me: Keep Moving Forward. Fight For Your Passion... I don't really care if it's simple, somehow it brings hope.
@@FlowerKidLive nah man that squidward hate is personal
I need to CLEAR MY NAME!!!!
the only abnormal is skibidy toilet haha. Jokes aside, love the video! I love how you delved deeply into the meaning behind it!
Much love. I hope to bring more deeper analysis on videos like spongebob!!

Actually when i think of the word normal i think of the spongebob episode
Lore of SpongeBob Analysis: Freaks, and Undesirables momentum 100
going crazy style!!
Bruh moment
Sorry 'bout that man
Are you in any support groups or therapy?
Growing up as an undiagnosed autistic woman i related to this episode hard. I was always trying to be 'normal' it was exhausting. After years of masking, i eventually hit a burnout that caused me to have a mental breakdown. This caused me to start the journey of self acceptance. I'm not 100% there yet, but I now realize it's okay to not be 'normal' It's okay to be yourself. Even though i do still get ostracized, I'm at least happy with myself, and that's all I could ever ask for. Thank you for creating this video, i really enjoyed it!
I will not tolerate your Squidward slander, sir.
I SWEAR ITS NOT SLANDER 😭😭😭
Naaa the intro 0:00 is really good, great video, greetings from Chile
Thank you for liking my video!!
Man, your channel seriously underrated. I thought the Squidward slander was pretty funny, although 14:09 was my favorite moment.
THANK YOU, I try my best
Damn. This is the episode where SpongeBob turns into the NPC meme.
HA true
(Listen to Normalize by Mother Mother, amazing song)
Edit: also sorry for yapping
Edit 2: no i didnt finish the video before writing the first paragraph... my bad
Lmao, you're good. I'm just glad you enjoy the video and understood the message

isn't it crazy how one of the best episodes of the entire series (imo) isn't from S1-3. I just can't agree with the notion that "everything after the movie was shit"
you just hit a cord, and I'm gonna talk about this later!!
Ikr, that logic be so stupid and forced.
0:49 Something that never changes and is the most average thing in everything and anything
One singular stationary particle
Literally The Lego Movie in a nutshell.

Real, and need to play it now
What arcana is Squidward?
This made me realise that squidward is a really terrible person 😭 I hope you make a character analysis on him the next chance you get, it would be interesting
I LOVE THE IDEA!! i'll write it down for the future!!
everytime i see someone say "we get older we understand Squidward" i just roll my eyes. Like dude literally pulled some of the most cruelest shit on Spongebob, when all he did was annoy him a little
@@somemadnessfan4763”Annoy him a little”
The cruelest thing being, what? Saying he’s not normal?
Spongebob destroyed his house and hobbies multiple times, embarrassed him in front of the entire town, got his only day off permanently replaced with community service, and stalks him on the daily. It’s really disingenous to say all Spongebob did was be a little annoying.
I wouldn’t describe him as a “really terrible” person.
Narcissistic? Selfish? Yes. But I think I can understand why given his circumstances.

It really scares me when I or everyone do the same recycle. That would mentally drive me insane, worse if your at school or at job and there's no fun in it, it feels like your wasting your life or time for nothing.
My opinion on mental conditions like ADHD
What if it's not a condition
Hmmmm I see what you mean, this helps me with my vision
10:15 just as all the other normals do. not normal people. normals. normalcy strips one of their humanity for a blank slate.
Here before this video blows up! This video was great. My favorite part was 17:57. You said it great.

Bro it's 3 am and I'm already creeped out for some reason, I click on this expecting some chill spongebob vid and it scared the shit outta me
“Normal” is like “perfect”, it’s all relative. Normal to one person may be weird or worse to others
Squidward doesn't want to be normal, but he wants so much to want it that he'll push others into harmful positions
5:58 was my favorite part, that line is so deep considering SpongeBob is still a kids show at the end of the day. It's like Squidward was talking directly to me. Definitely relate to being singled out kinda like SpongeBob in this situation.
I never thought about how the viewer would feel about the quote. thanks for the perspective!! (You are now entered)

Remember it's okay to be a freak. Long as you arent hurting anyone, do what makes you happy and dont let anyone shame you for it.
12:48, that would make me upset too fr. I have an office job and that hits close to their business mindset and it’s tough to find a unique identity.
when my friend review it, he said the same thing!!
@@FlowerKidLive I mean, i like talking to people who are like me, but i still try to act "normal" around them, which i cant really because i dont know what normal they tell me i can act how i wanna act its just it feels natural to have to act normal around other people, but thank you for understanding :D
I also have autism and I exactly understand that “alien” feeling.
So this episode is basically just SpongeBob doing some autistic masking. Oof.
