Thanks everyone for watching. I know 45 minutes is a long time, I will be breaking this video up in the future in 3 separate parts. If you want to skip anything here's some time stamps to help. 3:20 - Mille 11:00 - RSV1000R 17:12 - RSV4
Bro, I genuinely loved the video. You effort is certainly appreciated. The only complaint I have is your positive comment on the winglets lol. I can’t stand them on any bikes these days. I wish they made them removable.
Thank you for putting this together and out there! Just for those folks that think the Aprilia is just like any other bike. I've owned so many Japanese superbikes but in 2020 I bought my first 2014 Aprilia RSV4 Factory which I am still blown over with and last year my 2017 RSV4-RF, the game changer for me. Both bikes set up for fast track days and they are amazing. Aprilia is the best for me!
Reliability on the old RSV4 was actually really good considering the italian background, also the fact of having to adjust the valves every 6000 miles is just simply and plain wrong, maintenance schedule says every 12000 miles. I have mine (2010 Factory non APRC) for a few years and its gotten a good beating on the road and plenty of weekends at high speed race tracks and at the moment over 30000 miles without ever skipping a beat and I forgot to mention it also has the manufacturer option factory racing ecu and akra slip-on which they say boosts power to 200hp crank. By far the best and most reliable modern italian sportbike made
mannnnn, I love Your voice, the way it starts-heavy yet not intimidating but slightly shapr, midway-the way it holds like heart beat and the way its ends-heavy to fade away.
The timing of this video could not have been better. You are the reason i bought a 2008 Honda VFR800 and put delkevic exhausts. I had that bike from 2021 until very recently, when i bought a brand new RSV4!!! Honestly couldn't ask for better timing
Indeed, all the Rotax V60° bikes had fuel injection. The two-strokes were of course carb fed, and perhaps the single cylinder Pegaso might have been too.
Good work, my man! You nailed it!🎉 I've been on your channel for a few years now. My two favorites would be the Fireblade video, and now, the Aprilia vid. Not because I didn't truly enjoy the Yamaha and others. Just because I love CBRs and the first bike I ever wanted was an '03 Aprilia. Once again... You nailed it. Please keep these videos coming.
Great video thanks. It was direct injection from the beginning in 1998 , the 2001 axial brakes are not monoblock. I've owned a 2002 Mille-R for 12 years. My favourite bike for sure , enjoyed it a lot , just had some minor problems very solid bike.
I've had three and owned two at the same time from 2016-2023 (one street, one track). 2012 Factory SE, 2016 RF LE and 2016.5 RF. I still have the 2016.5 RF track bike.
Great video, thank you. Ive got a 2019 rf and its fantastic. Not to keen on the newer shape. Think you cant beat the older one pre 2020. Great bikes, real head turners! Great to finally learn some back story. Thank you 👍🏻
That 2004 RSV Narrow is perhaps the most beautiful I’ve never seen…until now. That black with those striking red wheels. My gawd. I’ve really only known about the RSV Mille because a friend had one and the RSV4 because I’ve always wanted one. This beautiful thing stuck in the middle though 😮 I gotta find one and buy it.
@@AjackLee4 On the 2004 it was an overwound stator that fries the regulator/rectifier. The mileage can also reset if the battery is disconnected. In my experience with the previous Mille, the Rotax V60 will use some oil but there's a lot of pretty high mileage bikes that prove the engine is Japanese reliable if looked after. 15w50 oil semi synthetic is the recommended grade, but 10w50 full synthetic won't cause any problems. MPL or Oberon hydraulic clutch slaves are a popular mod to lighten up the heavy lever pull and a Brembo or Accossato forged master cylinder will give fine control over the powerful factory Brembo brakes. Ohlins suspension is sublime when set up correctly but the front axle/caliper mounts are fragile if the pinch bolts are over tightened. If they crack then it allows play in the fork station and the fork seals will CONSTANTLY leak. The Showa forks on the base model don't have the quality and adjustability of the Ohlins of the Factory, but they don't tend to suffer cracking. A lot of people complain about a useless rear brake but that's due to the master cylinder is mounted on the side of the engine which overheats the fluid. Either seek out aftermarket rearsets that mount the M/C behind the heel guard, or create a simple heat shield and use slightly longer bolts for the original position. Get a new banjo bolt with an integrated bleed nipple for that rear M/C to make bleeding the rear brake so much easier. The rear shock linkage is prone to bearing failure if not maintained.
@@AjackLee4 I had mine for 16 years. It was starting to give me old-bike problems, that's the only reason I sold it. Replaced with a 2023 KTM Super Duke Evo

Very nice vídeo, love the RSVs but I see some errors with picture of riders. You talk about Guintoli and shows a picture of other rider, then you talk about biaggi and shows maverick viñales lol other than that it was great and appreciate the effort and time it took to make such a complete video
10:37 I KNOW WHERE THAT IS Its on display at the Barber vintage museum in Birmingham Alabama! I have to recommend going I spent my entire day there and i would fly half way across the country just to do it again!
45 minutes was good Bro. Especially if it’s a well done vid like this. It’s also great you read your own copy - I hate robo voices. Related to that (and I mean no offense whatsoever…so “livery” is live-eree, “Guintoli” is Ginnt-olee with emphasis on the Ginnt, and “Mille” is Me-lay. I hope that helps.
The Mille has always been fuel injected, as has all of the Rotax V60° models. And they never had monobloc calipers. The Brembo brakes are superb but the M4 monoblocs arrived with the V4.
That's what I thought! I have a 1999 Gen 1, when he said the SP was Carb I was so confused! I have M4's & an RCS19 on my "bitsa" GSXR 600 K1, really good system - I like a lot of initial bite, but I stopped using HH sintered once I went with that setup because it just felt a tad too grabby on the road.
@Anonnymouse53 I picked up a set of M4 for the last Mille (03 R model) I had. Couldn't tell a difference between the M4 mono and the original two piece. Couldn't tell the difference between the radial mounted calipers on the R and the axial mount calipers on my previous 03 base Mille either. When I got the KTM RC8R, THEN I noticed a difference in braking performance, but I suspect that's more to do with weight, geometry and suspension than brakes since it was the same calipers I'd fitted to the last aprilia. I tried the Brembo RCS, but thought it wooden. I do like the fixed ratio Brembo racing master cylinders though. I tried the Accossato PRS adjustable, which had a better feel than the Brembo RCS, but too much slack in the lever. Not travel, just a bit too loose at the pivot. The billet Accossato is fantastic in terms of feel, but the quality of the external machining isn't the tidiest. I like that Accossato offer in between ratios like 17 and 19.
I think that you missed one very important thing about the V60 998ccm engines which is that they actually are ROTAX V990 engines (BRP-Powertrain) Greets from Germany
Not a bad effort, but i think a real perspective of aprilia and their racing heritage, you should have at least mentioned their racing success with their smaller capacity 2 stroke machines, 54 world titles in total, for a small italian manufacturer, is very impressive. Racing is in the DNA of aprilia and to be honest i think youve missed a huge chunk of that history there. Its their identity, unlike the other big Japanese brands which motorcycle racing is just a small part of their total interests.
I had an Aprilia rs50 from 2006 in white back i 2012. Awesome bike and I really still dream about that bike. But when I opened the engine up it was a Ducati 🥹
Not a bad video but im still trying to work out who Leon Halsam is?? I do know a Leon Haslam though. Think he may have had quite a famous dad who raced too

I'm surprised you didn't talk about Claudio Lombardi, the designer of Aprilia's V4 engine as well as Ferrari's F1 V12 engine in the early 90's.

I’m a believer in Aprilia after owning my Tuareg. It’ll be between one of their V4s or Hondas upcoming V3 for my next bike.
fun fact the rsv 1000 engine was made by rotax(why they were reliable). updated would go into the buell 1125 and the 1190 today.
