The last time I went to a store to try on a fragrance to be more "sensible"--as opposed to blind buying--I bought the fragrance I knew I would love anyway. Then I went down to my car in the parkade, only to find my driver's side mirror smashed. It was a $500 deductible for an insurance claim. I could have bought a new bottle of Tonka Imperiale for less than that. 😔 The incident restored my faith in blind buying.
I think every perfume lover falls for the hype of chanel, mainly cause of the brand name and aesthetics of the bottle. Me included... but oh my god most of them stink of patchouli overload (except for the chance edt) I say this with confidence after owning every chanel perfume ever.
I do really like Chance as well! I love patchouli, but for some reason Chanel’s patchouli doesn’t work well with my skin chemistry. Chanel No. 19 Poudre and Chane Beige Les Exclusif are both absent of patchouli and I LOVE both of them!
My most successful blind buys are Mon Guerlain edp Mon Guerlain intense , La Belle , La belle le parfum , the all lines Scandal Jean-Paul Gaultier ( 4 perfumes ) 🥰💕
A few successful blind buys were Micheal Kors starlight shimmer, narciso Rodriguez for her edt and Poudre, Twilly, Cloud and Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille. Just to name a few😂. But my most loved perfume purchase of the year is Miss Dior 2017🥰 but that one wasn’t a blind buy.
Unfortunately my blind buy record is not so good. Even half-blind buys (just having had a sniff once or twice) did not work out for me. I burned way too much money and have vowed to invest only after really thorough testing. But I am happy for all you guys who are successful with your blind buys.

When you layer sol janeiro bum bum cream with any of the Mon Guerlain, try it and thank me later 😊. I did that around a man I’m dating and he was literally hypnotized the entire night. I shared that combo with a girlfriend and she said she had everyone around her speechless.
Blind buying is such a great thrill 🌟 Is it really a blind buy if you watch or read a review first? Almost all of my blind buys have been great decisions. The one I was the most nervous about was Tiziana Terenzi Telea because of the price.However, that one lived up to all of the fanfare👏

My most successful blind buy, hands down, has been Lalique Encre Noir!! It’s so woody and perfect! Other successes were MUGLER Aura, Gucci Memoire, and Agent Provocateur: Fatale Intense.
Both Chanel coco mademoiselle and Guerlain Mon Guerlain were blind purchases for me 🙈 I got CM back in 2015 the first time and have always had a bottle of it since and gone through numerous bottles of it. I’m about to finish a 200 ml bottle and it’s bitter sweet haha. I bought MG back in 2017 and have been through at least 3 100 ml bottles of it and just like CM I will always have it in my collection 😍
I want to say Angel Muse is probably my most successful blind buy ever. From the moment I gave it the first sniff I absolutely LOVED it and use it very sparingly since I got the small bottle and don't have a back up yet lol
I’ve never blindly bought a perfume haha I haven brought myself to buy something I didn’t know if I liked or not! I came sooooooo close to blind buying Mon Guerlain but I was eventually able to get testers from Nordstrom’s! So I got lucky being able to try it before I bought it 💜

Some of my other successful blind buys include Burberry Her, JPG Scandal a Paris, Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl, Trussardi Donna and Sofia by Sofia Vergara. Most of the fragrances currently in my collection were purchased after buying a decant or travel spray (does that count as a blind buy??? 🤔) or getting a sample.

We have similar tastes. LDBSE was such a successful blind purchase for me. Same with Oriana. Surprisingly many don’t like those two fragrances. I just think they’re so lovely and people don’t know what they’re missing. Lol.

Great comparison between Oriana and Sundazed. I haven't heard anyone else make that connection. I bought Sundazed because of you as soon as you said it smells like a happy day. I was sold. Great one to highlight to your subscribers, Ilythia. I actually bought Bond No. 9 Liberty 🗽 Island as well (another blind buy), as it has a very similar scent profile. Sundazed is far better.
My most successful blind buys were Gucci Guilty Intense and Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc for Her. These two perfumes are wearable esp. on hot weather.❤️
I have a decant of Oriana and I’ve worn it once. I love the scent!! And I’m someone who isn’t crazy about Love Don’t Be Shy and Sundazed. I’m on the fence about buying a full bottle though, because I do prefer my perfumes to project a little more at that price point. I’m going to continue to test it out though and I’ll decide if it’s FBW when I finish the decant.
My blind buy fail this year was Kajal Lamar. The drydown has a note that really turns me off. It is spicy in a bad way and I even bought another perfume just to tame it down. But it doesn't really turn Lamar into something I love.
Diptyque Benjoin Boheme was my most successful blind buy because of the price also. Plus I had to hunt it down lol Selfridges was the only place that brought it back in stock. For a while no one had it.

You can still buy decants at reputable places and then you don't have to worry about having too much perfume. Just a little bit of everything. :D
