You were not the only one to be at hay Gerry seen hay been baled around the country this weekend. Fantastic views in the background and the weather just makes the difference.
I’ve never known 3yrs in a row to be completely different and all a pain in the arse! Luckily finished my last 4 acres a month again (joys of no arable crops) and had to round bale it to let it sweat the last bit out and the rain was coming 🙄🤦♂
Good video as always Gerry fantastic content with lots of interesting comments about the farm crops weather etc 👌 how are the cows and calves doing, have you had enough growth of grass in the grazing fields keep them going 🤔
It used to be that hay made in September was no good or at least degraded because the nutrients had withdrawn from the grass by then. That was the lesson from 85 which was a very wet year. If I remember correctly you hay was selling for 5 punt a bale ( yes that’s crazy pricing) that fall because there was no hay to be had. Maybe it’s different now.
@@simonbundee8588 I’ve made hay mid September before was only ok. The biggest problem is if you have hay you intend to cut in early july and weather didn’t come, by time you get to September it’s all dead grass and second growth. So wouldn’t be great. This stuff was grazed until early May so was later fertilized and slurried. It was still green. Look it’s not Gona be like June hay but Id be happy with it. It’s like 2nd silage kinda quality
I biggest problem is the due in the morning last too long and comes again early in evening because the day a getting shorter and drying is not in when come this time year see best time is June or July for hay
Its nice to hear the tractor and machine sounds when they're working without the need for accompanying music
Savage equipment, spotless
Great video Gerry. Lovely views and great weather to save the hay. Your equipment looks in pristine condition. Enjoyed watching.
Great video, as ever, Gerry! 👍 2850 sounding sweet going up the hill with the haybob. 👂🎶
Great video Gerry as always 👌
Thanks Gary 👍

The luck is with you getting good hay this time of the year, iam getting it hard to get silage dry enough to bale, great video.
Very lucky. Only we had those 2 days with weather in early-mid 20s it’d be wrapped

👏👏🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪👌👌👍👍💪💪
💪🏻
What is flag behind you when discussing the 20 acres?
There’s an Irish flag on a pole there
What's that on the hay field behind u
Where?
@@gerry6420 sorry at the end of the video not much bothering me
On highest part of a rock there there’s an Irish flag. On a flag pole. Must be it. Can’t see anything else looking back at video there
Will spraying off not kill your barley or at least contaminate it?
Beautiful view from that field. I've never gone further than Dublin; have to travel the countryside next summer.
What spray do you use to burn off spring barley
A generic roundup. I think this was one called gallop
Please, brother, I follow you on TH-cam . Please help me find a job contract on a farm. May God bless you.🇲🇦🇺🇸🇲🇦🙏
I will work with you and I will agree to any price you give me.
