    Im actually shocked at just how well explained this is. Im a rookie lifter but am designing a smith machine, and just now learning that barbells have such technical specs. The information in this video is golden

    Digging my Wonderbar with plain bushing. Less expensive and works great for me.

    I heard Peter mention both Bronze and Brass when he was talking about the bushings. My understanding is Brass is softer and he didn't mean to mention Bronze. Also, I've seen where some manufacturers offer bars with BOTH bushing and bearings. Do you have an example of that and can you explain the benefit to getting a bar with both? Thanks guys, Great vid Peter!

    Love this breakdown. Can you guys do one of bronze vs composite bushings as well?

    The bushings came lose in the sleeve of my barbell. They just slide back and forth when the bar is tilted now. This is not only obnoxious, but it makes my bar feel cheap and junky. Why would they come loose all the sudden after being fixed for the rest of the time I had the bar? Any way to fix this?

    Can you swap the bushings out with needle bearings or do you need to buy a new bar?

    Hi, I'm building a custom landmine using a standard bar. For this project, I was wondering if you could tell me where I can buy the needle bearings?

    So i train at home and occationally i have to pop out when i get stuck at tye bottom of a squat.
    The floor is concrete and the weights are basoc solid ones.
    my cheap barbell is bent possibly from this happening (and or close grip deads).
    Q: Would bearings get wrecked under those forces?

    What if I currently do the main compound lifts (BP/Squat/DL/OHP) but might want to get into Oly lifting in the future. Would you recommend just going for the Wonder Bearing bar vs the Bushing version? It's only a $28 difference.

      I think you’d be good with either to be honest. Bushing can still do oly lifts if you’re just starting out. You won’t see the BIG advantages of bearing until you get into a more intermediate level.

    are these rotating sleeves a CrossFit thing?

  • @justplanefred

    How long would someone expect the bronze bushing to last doing stuff like crossfit?

    • @oswelds
      @oswelds ปีที่แล้ว

      Basicly forever. Oil empregnated bushings leak more oil when they heat up and they do last a long time in an actual machine setting. The load and spin a human can put on a bushing is very very marginal compared to industrial machines. Bushings do last longer than bearings also under heavy loads.

      @@FringeSportHQ just saw the one on your website, that’s not it. The one I have looks like a normal Olympic barbell, 2” removable sleeves, powerlifting style knurling, but the end caps are small plastic caps that can be pried open to reveal a hex bolt and a single washer, then to remove the sleeves they must be turned counter clockwise because they are threaded to the collars. Searched online but I haven’t found one that fits the script, not seeing any logos or branding on it doesn’t help either.
