Such a shame Stephen Lee ain’t playing on the pro tour anymore. He had one of the best cue actions in the game that could easily compete with todays game. He’s such a humble down to earth guy and he still does the occasional exhibition up and down the UK so just thought I’d put that out there for anyone interested in seeing him play live. Also he’s mentoring his son Alfie towards top level snooker which is exciting news.
He won 5 ranking titles. Imagine how many more he would have won had he not been banned for 12 years. Worst case scenario says he would have doubled that amount. Real shame...stupid...but a shame.
if you watch him online these days. he's wanting to make a come back when his ban is up. i think its in a year or two but he's still as good as he had ever been. he still denies cheating but his game is still there.
@@ben_jamin160 Since he was convicted on circumstantial evidence it's possible he wasn't guilty at all and he's telling the truth. But yeah, really hope he makes a comeback - great player, fantastic to watch, and i like him.
@@itnaklipse1669 yeah he wasnt completely guilty but he still did it but the reason he denies it is because of fear, he was forced into it by gangs that pick on sportsman and celebrity's. footballers get harassed by these gangs the most. they make them fix matches so they can put bets on or make you pay protection money. i cant give you a link but i remember a snooker player talk about it at the time possible J Higgins saying he knows Lee was having problems with local gangs.

Do you not remember Gerard having problems with a liverpool gang and he had been paying them off for years. This is what happened to Lee. If he admited it and said he was sorry and in a desperate place at the time he wouldnt of been banned for so long but he couldnt admit it coz he would have to grass on all these gang members. Its happened to lots of snooker players and its not something they like to talk about.
This was his worst time mentally. He was really up and down in the early to mid 2000’s. His mental breakdown against Ebdon were he exhibited a lot of weird behaviour and randomly shaved his head bald on the morning of the second session. Or him conceding against Hendry early on in the match after missing an easy shot. His mind was all over the place during this period.

But he needed the money after being out of the game so long, just cruel to fine someone when they’ve already received a lifetime ban. He was a one off player, much better cue action than Murphy in my opinion. When he was in that groove he was fantastic and a great shot maker. He’s one of my favourite players still, first time I watched snooker as a kid it was Stephen Lee playing at the crucible and I was so inspired that I took up the game.

First frame with the colors remaining, the black was in a dangerous position for Lee to get snookers if needed. Ronnie had a lot more pressure there with free ball than it was ever mentioned IMO.

I'd ideally love to see lee over these next 2 or 3 yrs work on his fitness and get himself into shape. Come back at 50 and have ten years of competitive playing on the circuit and win 8 or 9 ranking events including the world's, UK and masters title but obviously not gonna happen 😞

Lee’s cue action was so good but he just wasn’t mentally tough enough to consistently beat the best players.
Ronnie looked really happy back then. All it would have taken was a couple of good mates. Keep him out of trouble.
