To this day, I don't think Jimin & Hobi get enough credit for how much they did for, "Wings."
"Boy Meets Evil," is criminally underrated &, "Lie," where to even start with that song? Musicians hear it & they're blown away; dancers see Jimin's performance & are spellbound.
Lie was the first BTS song that I had a visceral reaction to. As in “Yes. I have FELT this. I AM feeling this right now”. I have felt a strong connection to Jimin ever since.

Ppl who were there said that J-Hope had to literally lead the blindfolded Jimin to get in the right position on stage. Jimin really couldn’t see anything! Amazing to be able to do those spins and jump and still be able to face the front of the stage! Jimin is one of the best dancers I have ever seen, I have analyzed them in depth and the technique he has, in addition to the fact that he really dances with every part of his body because he puts his soul into it when he does it, is one of the best and most beautiful without doubts
To this day, my most fav solo song of Jimin is Lie and most fav from Hobi Boy meets evil. The songs themselves are so grand and emotion evoking, and the performances so theatrical and technically top notch yet so expressive. They are emotional roller coaster experience. Although all 7 boys carry in their own way, this stage showcases why Jhope and Jimin are the main dancers of BTS.

This performance is what made Jimin my favourite dancer ever. He and Hobi killed this. Wings was special, no question.
they were called "rookie monster" before bcs of being such a good performer & had strong stage presence. jhope & jimin slayed on that iconic performance. hope u react on "wings album" try to watch their solo short clips there's a clue there. wings album was very artistic for me and it's one of my faves bts album.

The Herman Hesse quote and so many other times BTS have used German poetry or prose. The writing on Jimin‘s chest in his MV for Set me Free Part 2 is originally German or the writing on the wall in their MV for Blood Sweat and Tears. And it always fascinates me, as a German, that the great writers we learn about in school are actually known in other countries too.
Makes it seem a lot less silly or insignificant to learn about them.
So I just really appreciate it whenever they use inherently German texts in their shows etc.

Jimin and JHope stole the whole dang show with their opening number. It’s so so good. Everything about this was top tier.
I have a short recommendation, it’s SBS 2016 opening with Jimin, he was dancing the same choreography with the top other dancers from other idol groups (2 short songs one more classical style one more kpop and not to be rude but he’s soo clearly the best dancer I almost feel bad. This is the BangtanTv fandom of the behind the scenes and the second half of the 5 min video is the two performances. It’s his fancam but you see enough of the others to see how fantastic he is. They were given a black ocean here by the other kpop fans, but Tannies slayed that stage. 💜 I love them so much!
This is probably my favorite performance so far. It is so intense, artistic, poetic, stunning, and absolute visual perfection. The dancing with Hobi and Jimin at the beginning is masterful, the technique is unreal. It blows my mind every time I watch it. The moment when V embraces Jin from behind and the ground shakes gives me chills. It has such contrast between dark and light; its both dangerous and romantic, and it really is perfection.

I wasn't an ARMY back then but from whatever history I've learned, they persevered through so much resistance from jealous people during Wings era, I believe this was the time when they also got the black ocean during MMA. But despite all of that they earned more supporters. Wings was so iconic there was no way it would've been ignored, they proved to everyone what they were capable of doing with immense support from Veteran ARMY. All those first daesang wins that year, you could see it on their faces how much they deserved and longed for it yet were somehow made to believe they wouldn't make it that far. Not bringing back those bad memories to spread any negativity but to make a point how much more these wins meant to them and were deserved because they worked so damn hard! I'm so so proud of them! 🥹
Yeah it's sad that they get so much hate, since 2016 specially when their extreme success began. I guess it's something that goes along with the fame the got, it's only blind jealousy

Believe me, even those that have seen it, who are Army and claim to be dancers, have said Jimin is overrated and less skilful than others. One even claimed that in BME, Jimin's positioning of his foot when he bends backwards is proof of this lack of skill and that the blindfold doesn't matter. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

With "Wings" BTS indeed went a big step ahaed, but they were still miles away from making Award shows their own. At the MMA 2016 they experienced a so called "Black Ocean" which means that other fandoms refuse to show their lightsticks .during their performance and the audience appeared dark. Armys spread wide throgh the venue, but were to few still to light it up. We've come far :)
Check out Hobi's performance video of Boy Meets Evil. It's a brilliant piece of choreography about a young man's descent into the temptations of evil.. At this point Hobi was my bias and I was so excited to learn there was a live version of Boy Meets Evil not realizing Jimin was also performing. Jimin's performance mesmerized me and I was blown away. I hadn't seen that caliber of dancing outside of ballet and contemporary/modern dance. And if I'm being honest, Jimin set the bar high and at that moment Jimin became my bias and has been ever since. The song is a combination of Hobi's Boy Meets Evil and Jimin's Lie (another masterpiece). These young men are amazing.

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Hobi's song was Boy Meets Evil there is an MV for it. Hope u watch. And Jimin's song was Lie. There is no MV just lives and behind the scenes. Jimin has told us that he will not perform this song ever again. He has moved on. But the 1st time he danced to this he cried. This one really hits home with him. No remember in 2015 they won their 1st awards for I Need You. After that they started to get more fans. The BTS book explains it all really well. Hope u get a chance to read it. Not sure if this was a 1st concert like one at MAMAs. But they had proven that they are good dancers and performers before this. That is why they got this spot. Love this performance. They slayed! Jimin always stuns me with his stage. The blindfold dance is so hard. He makes it look so easy. They started to change their style in I Need U and slowly grew from there. For the MMA,
- In 2013: 1st time invited and were the 5th performers of the total of 13.
- In 2014: I'm not sure if they attended the show but they were not nominated for any award nor performed.
- In 2015: 7th performer of the total of 10.
- In 2016: 13th performers of the total of 15.
- In 2017: 2nd last performers
- In 2018 till 2020 they have been the last performers.
For the MAMA, it has been held on multiple days and on multiple cities/countries in 2017 & 2018.
- 2014 in Hong Kong: 1st time invited and 1st performers on the show & in the middle of the show as well with another group called Block B at the same time. This is a legendary performance!
- 2015 in Hong Kong: 9th performer of 28 total performers
- 2016 in Hong Kong: 23th performer of 29 total performers
- In 2017 the show was held for 3 days in Vietnam, Japan & Hong Kong. They attended on the last day which was in Hong Kong and performed last.
- In 2018 it was held for 3 days in S. Korea, Japan & Hong Kong. They attended the 2nd & 3rd day and performed on both days last. So there are 2 separate performances.
- In 2019 it was only held for 1 day because of political issues between S. Korea & Japan and it was held in Japan despite that. They attended and performed last.
- In 2020 it was held for 1 day too and this time in S. Korea because of COVID. They attended and performed last.
The largest entertainment company, SM Entertainment, has decided to boycott the MAMA show since 2018 because of unfairness in the voting system. No artists of SM has appeared on the show ever since. The 2nd largest company, YG Entertainment, faced the same issue in 2015 and hasn't attend the show nor performed besides BLACKPINK only attending in 2018. So because of no artists from these 2 largest companies attending there were no competition in performing nor winning awards against BTS. With MAMA usually if you're nominated and you attend the show you may win the award you're nominated for. But if you're nominated and the end result was obvious that you should have won the award but you didn't attend the show, the award will be given the 2nd place winner. Even if they attended they still won't win the award(s) they were nominated for because BTS was still on top and dominating the nominations. BTS exploded in popularity domestically and internationally since 2016 so much that it overtook the most popular artists from SM Ent & YG Ent since.

While their MV's are amazing and (usually) portray the "story" of the song well...I don't think much tops their award show performances...other than maybe some concert footage.
Award shows are highly detailed while the concerts provide glimpses of themselves on stage - specifically when they're not actually doing their choreographed works, but rather "just having fun" on stage.
Don't get me wrong. Of course their choreo IS killer - be it in their MV's, dance practices or on stage, but there is just something special...magical, almost...about their award show performances as well as them goofing off on stage in concert.
