I worked on an oil rig back in the 80s. There was a drill site in Kansas that there were hundreds of these around the location. It was amazing how tame they were once they figured out we wasn't going to hurt them. We would fees them potato chips, cookies, sunflower seeds or what ever was left from our lunches. It got where they would all gather behind the doghouse (building where the crew changed clothes, & get out of the weather) and wait for lunch to be served. Years later I got out of the oilfield and changed my occupation as a CNC Machinist I saw one inside the building on my way to the break room, I went back to my machine and took a cookie out of my lunch and fed it. For about 3 months every morning around 2:30 am it would hop up to my machine and wait for a hand out. It was quite content to eat at my machine and when finished, it would hop away just to show up the next morning like clockwork.
hey that sucks dude, leave wild animals alone. you teach them to over-rely on humans, and make it harder for them to forage for themselves. you also expose them to more danger as they wont be scared of humans anymore, and we humans can be pretty damn dangerous. All around incredibly naive and thoughtless of you. you may have doomed that whole population just because you thought they were “cute”
So, when you think they're hopping about on foot they are actually standing on their toes. Jerboas are not just mini kangaroos from the Arizona... they're BALLERINAS!
“It’s not an either-or that we should study human disease or we should study weird animals" may be one of the best and truest statements I've ever heard. Very interesting stuff as well!
one of my art professors sent me a card describing himself with a jerboa picture on it. we tried to figure it out but finally had to ask what it meant, he said it was because the jerboa never drinks water. he was a lifelong alcoholic.
Some Jerboas are the size of Rabbits while others are the size of pygmy mice. Some have ears making up 2/3 of their body length while others have mouse sized ears. All of them love to hop.
Oh my, I've been working in some dinosaur+jerboa+other animals hybrid in order to make those more like the raptors in the Jurassic Park franchise (obiously, a fantasy chimera, nothing else), and I wasn't sure about using jerboa because I only knew that they hopped but wasn't sure if they could walk, this have been a really educational vid
The larger an object, the less effective its structure compared to its mass. For their size, larger animals are simply going to have heavier, more cumbersome, less elastic skeletons, along with a less efficient circulatory system.
This randomly got recommended to me after watching dooby too much
Like same yo
i love the name "noodle-hop-hop"

"What if we gave this mouse flamingo legs?" "Not like we're doing anything else." "This is gonna be great."
-Dr Henry Wu
I've always wanted a pet jerboa, it's like they took a mouse and duck taped chopsticks to its back legs.
So they're staying en pointe like a ballerina? So cute!
What a wonderful and informative little video. Yet now I'm not going to be calling them "jerboas." but "noodle hop hop"s.

You go do that. I'm just gonna be watching more TH-cam vids about Jer-Noodle hop hop's. Darn! It's contagious!

This thing looks like somebody painstakingly recreated a mouse in Spore and then their asshole sibling stretched the legs as far as they go.
My quality of life has improved greatly since I learned about these sillies
They're so strange looking that they almost look fake, adorable nonetheless.
now they need to make noises to tell us when the weather will change. and we need to put em on our shoulder
Honey, I Shrunk the T-rex?

Fun fact: Fang the Sniper from the _Sonic_ series was originally designed as a jerboa, as confirmed by the character designer himself.
I don't see it
Sorry for replying to such an old comment but Fang is the reason I got obsessed with jerboas
So that's what happened to the T-Rex.
+Trey Lyles stop talking about yourself. We don't need to hear that you're ugly we already know that.
Coraline anyone?

These guys remind me of the creature in the movie Splice.
I was reading a book about Morocco and was curious to what this animal is in the book.. now I know
Some species of Jerboas are carnivorous, feeding on insects. So to bugs these guys are sort of like a furry Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Cross a gerbil with a boa constrictor and get a gerboa! But I guess it's spelled jerboa, so that doesn't quite work.
