so sorry to hear about that. cancer is a b.....i lost my grandfather 2 years ago on cancer. you really can be proud of your dad and what he did. i love "high school" so much. it has this kind of "nostalgia" (i dont know if this is the right word, i mean the word "sehnsucht" in german). anyway, the whole album is great stuff. sorry for bad english ;-) best wishes from ffm/germany...rock!
Sorry to hear that, I was living at the Manor then and had a great time those 3 weeks or so Chilli was there making the album. Hung with him after in London too. Lovely man. R.I.P. Chilli, thanks for the Music!!
I was 13 and bought what I thought was Tubular bells in 23rd precinct in Glasgow. When I got home I found this gem was in the Mike old field sleeve. Anyway, instead of taking it back, I kept it. This record got me interested in all sorts of other interesting music. So thanks to the girl in the record shop, my love of music grew and grew from that day.
Wow, until now I never heard of these guys....WONDERFULLY funky, totally in-time but not stiff, incredible drummer...and who ARE they specifically, I gots ta know!! :)
Hi. Glad to see this. I was a friend of your Dads. He was a special person. He was building sets in NY and stayed at our house while he did so. He had many stories and I did not believe them exactly until I was playing Lowell’s Thanks I’ll Eat it Here and he goes you know I played on this record. I was stunned. He spoke of you guys often and was very proud. I spoke to him right before he passed and he wanted to sell some land in Hawaii. Always smiling and calm
Interesting that he wanted to sell the land he had there; I always knew he was done there, because of the last thing he did, it told me he wanted to return to his family and friends in L.A. but died before he could.
Wow. Thanks for uploading this album, ive been trying to find a link for this album for years, and here it is, and so is a trip down memory lane, again, thank you ;-)
would you by any chance have his 1975 release "Quick Step" available? I've discovered a song off of that album called "Semba" from the V Virgin Sampler album and loved it.
He's my Dad. Im very Proud of Him... Unfortunately he passed away in 2005 of cancer...thank you for uploading and listening!

Happy B-day, Chili-October 9. Remembering.
My ears set alive with all of this! Complex, deep, funky and oh so good!!
Loved this record since the 70's. Know nothing about him, but what a sound! Thanks Chili !
It's Great!
great album that defined my teenage years, and now 45 years later still one of my top three albums, relentlessly upbeat and cheery
I didn't know him until today. From what I could listen in this LP he was a great musician. I wish we could have more of him on the net.

really good album, would you by any chance have Chili Charles' "Semba" available? I'm dying to hear that song again.

At some point I had a copy of his Quick Step mixes, don't know what I did with it though.
This the same Chili Charles that lived in Los Feliz in 1995?
Yes
Yes, he lived in Los Feliz for years.
@@TerriBingham I knew him then; we were friends and played some music together briefly. Loved him dearly.
Yes, Los Feliz and then Echo Park. In his last days he was splitting his time between Echo Park and Hawaii.
The first song reminds me of Steely Dan' s Do it again.
