  • Hello all! And welcome back for a FIFTH SEASON of On The Road With Vincent!
This year, we'll be taking a look at locations that have had some sort of calling on me over years. Locations that I've visited many times, or places I've never been to before.
And this week, we'll be visiting one of those locations that I've frequented for literally as long as I can possibly remember; Kibler Valley, Virginia!
Come see the land where much of my maternal family resided throughout the 20th century. A place I've referred to as "Heaven on Earth" multiple times. Learn about this history of the valley, including the good and bad. While in times this valley has earned a rather notorious reputation, I personally believe its beauty far outweighs its downfalls.
And today's journey will hopefully also remind you, that you don't have to drive for miles or hours on end to explore. There's plenty to see in your own backyard, wherever you may reside!
But why would a place right down the road have such a calling on me? Tune in to find out!
If you enjoy, leave a like, and be sure to subscribe so you never miss a new episode! See you next time!

Amazing video. I’m up in College Park, Maryland for my second year of college. I’m from Mount Airy, NC. I came across this video as I was laying in bed, feeling the mountains calling me back home. I grew up visiting Kibler Valley many times and have some of my fondest memories riding down this road and walking around with my parents. You’re right: it’s really impossible to put a finger on why places like this in Appalachia call us. But I can say, even though I love where I am living right now, the scenery and nature of patrick county and surry county really do feel like home.
I really loved all of the stories you told and I learned a lot. I’ve always had an infatuation with dams and I remember discovering them. I would have never suspected two massive, manmade structures hidden in such a startlingly remote area. Dams alter the land so much, creating huge reservoirs and impacting the streams and ecosystems below, it’s so amazing to me. I was wondering if you know any more about Townes and Talbott dams? They fascinate me. Maybe it’s how they are off limits. Maybe it’s the fact that they have the potential to release water that can completely inundate the entire valley below it, and something about that sheer power is so frightening yet amazing. Do you know any more lore or stories about the dams? I’m aware that they have sirens in the valley for alerts if the dams are in danger of collapse, and that the ownership has changed, and how there are houses specifically for people to manage the plant. It’s so interesting to me. I hope to come back soon when I’m home for thanksgiving and Christmas.
This video is in my “comfort videos playlist now. Keep up the great work!
