I know that you pointed out some people have mentioned that you play the same series of riffs, but I actually like that you do; it makes it easier to tell the differences between the amps. Thanks for doing these.
100%
agree to ya!
he should really downtune more though, you get nicer chugs on those lower notes, I can promise you that
Ted Nugent during the low gain section? I can't identify the one @7:20?
Same! 🤘🔥👍
Love mine, it even has the key still!! such a killer amp...soooo underrated and underappreciated, if it had Friedman logo on it people would be creaming themselves!
The Jackson ampeg still rules all. Too bad ampeg doesn't reissue it.
Those Ampegs and the Mesa Stiletto are some of the best modded Marshall style amps to mod and destroy all the others.
I purchased my VL-1002 new back in 1994 from Guitar Center, still have it. I run it through a Marshall 4x12 and it holds its own against my Mesa Boogie setup. Regarding not getting enough "low end", having a simple EQ (even a simple pedal EQ) makes a huge difference.
Nice!! I forgot about these. I remember Paul Gilbert endorsing them in the late 80’s/early 90’s.
I bought a half stack of one of these in the early 2000’s for $400 at a pawn shop. Lost the cab and sold the head. In January wanted another one and was blown away how much the price of these went up. Found one that was not working for $600 and put another $500 in it for repairs. Great amp!
Played one through an Orange 4x12 in an old band and it sounded awesome. Got a great deal on it, recorded a ton with it, and still have it today. Definitely Ampeg's best kept secret.
I just picked 1 of these up for my teenager & I gave my kid my scoop on it after I hooked it up for him & then watched this review afterward. What I told him was pretty-much the same as was said in this video. It sounds like a well-modded Marshall...very fun to play.
Just got done modding mine. Taking all those BS connectors out. Took the power tube section board out completely and point to point wired the whole power section. Elevated the heaters and gave it a bit of DC volts. Added a depth control and input cap switch to go from .0022 (stock) to .022. Takes some bass out of the front end. Then you can add it back in with the depth control making it tighter. It’s not quiet, reliable, and kicks major balls. Got it for 500 bucks and have had a blast learning the schematic and modding it. Lots of fun.
I own one of these. it's honestly more fun to play through than my 6505. But I like using a tube screamer with it. the 6505 i just go straight out of the amp.
Own one of these from brand new, and it's the 1st gen version, so it's the one with all white lines instead of the bloody awful later purple stripes on the front, and seeing a few comments about the key. Still have all the manuals and stuff for it.
What I understand from blurb before I bought it, when they were doing the rounds of guitar magazines as a new product, the key was put on there as a nod, a throwback, to old Ampeg amps from the 50's or 60's. You got a lot of session giggers who'd travel the country and have heavily worked amps. The key does nothing to protect the tones, or anything like that, it was purely to stop people coming up and playing through the amp! So a musician could put his amp on stage, go for a beer, and know that someone hasn't played through it, left it on for hours, overrun the settings, all that stuff, cos it wouldn't let anyone except the keyholder. They could come back, safe in the knowledge that the only thing that should have been possible to do to it was dick about with the knobs on the front, and that was about it.
On this amp, if you lock this, it still allows the preamp stage to warm up, and the Ampeg light sign will happily glow for as long as you like, but it stops anyone being able to use it.
That's nice until you lock it and then lose the key. 😆
That was my dream amp when I was kid. It was so heavy for its time and the light up logo was cool
Awesome play through Kyle !!! Now just imagine the Lee Jackson XLS-1000. almost same configuration but top shelf parts and custom transformers. In addition to what you have shown my XLS has an all tube effects loop which I jumper to add an additional gain stage. By turning it on/off between the two channels you end up with 4 channels of gain. The power attenuator is before the output transformer so you can get the output tubes to maximum tone levels without wearing out the OT. Try putting the Attenuator on lowest setting, it gets rid of ambient noise and kind of acts like a noise gate and cleans up the signal for more clarity. In the XLS you can run 6550, 5881,6l6 or 6ca7, and el34's with a self biasing switch. With all those options and the 5 pos mid switch you can make this amp do almost anything. I would love to see you put mesa 6l6's and preamp tubes in it to see how close to a recto it could get!!! But with much more gain than a recto.
I played both and compared them and the Ampeg sounded better.
So from what I know of these amps having had 3 and still owning 1 this one was the flag ship of the amps he made for ampeg/crate. His metaltronix 1000 was pretty much the same but much higher end internals. This one is close to the crate stealth but there are differences. The 501 aka the 50 watt is pretty much identical to the stealth by crate and is actually the one I prefer. All great amps for the money and Lee goes over some simple mods on TH-cam to take care of a couple of the issues from the mass production process
I have a stealth here, waiting to be demo'd!
@@belligerentamateur I had one awhile back, and it is such a rad amp with a boost
difference between Stealth and VL is that ther's diode clipping in Stealth while VL is all tube except for fx loop
The preamp on the metaltronix was quite a bit different. It was basically a single channel amp with 3 modes that you couldn't really switch between. The vl1002 gave you usable channel switching.
@@TL-angzarr and cold clipper stage was 4.7k instead 10k cathode resistor and was placed after tone stack
I got this amp last year and love it! So the freq knob change the value of the treble capacitor. Awesome feature. Amp destroys all marshals. So what's cool about this head is how bass knob works. Goes from flat to high. Most amps don't go completely flat on bass. Different but i realize how useful it is on the southern twang rock.
I love that every time I come across a kick ass high gain amp at least half the time I can find a demo here
Damn, this amp SMOKES !!!! It's all stock, too. This is the sound coming right out of the box. For a 90's amp, this is pretty impressive.
Tom from Blink used one when I saw them in '95 and then Chuck Reagan and Chris Wollard of hot water music also used them back in the 90s
Did not know that about Ragan and Wollard! Now I want one of these even more 😂 Hot Water Music are one of my absolute favourite bands
@@JinxRemoving Yup, those dudes ripped 👍
Great demo Kyle. I’ve been using my 50w version vl501 a lot more lately. Definitely like a modded JCM800.
YESSSS. I've had or have lots of the best amps out there. Wizard, Diezel, Mesa, Orange, Monomyth, Fortin etc. The Ampeg kills them all, especially for the price. The mid-shift control is the absolute killer feature for tone and the attenuator is also super useful. Never selling mine.
I’m surprised those ampeg lee Jackson’s aren’t worth like 5k. I mean look at Boogie mk ii c+. Those are starting to go for 10k. The lee Jackson ampegs probably do close to same shit. Very cool piece if you have one.
@@Kcapgar i have one if u wanna cough up 5k for it big boy lol
Amp has a nice crunchy tone.
I have the single channel 501,also had a Stealth 50. They are pretty different in tone as the Stealth has diode clipping in the preamp, and 6V6 in the power section. The 501 and all other Vl are pure tube signal, and they also use a half triode for the effects loop which is a hybrid.
Also Lee Jackson has said the single channels sound better than the two channel. He said SLM pushed for a two channel with reverb and that the reverb diminishes the tone. He has a lot of info on these amps on his site that get more specific and was very helpful with answering questions.
I have this exact amp sitting in my garage.A friend brang it over for me to do a once over and look at. I fixed it up as much as I could -some static and broken knobs i sprayed and fixed. But he seems to have abandoned it cuz he never asked for it back, and it’s been almost a year. I should call him and try to buy it.
i wonder why they resemble fryette amps at least the looks
I have a Lee Jackson XLS1000 which seems to be really close to that Ampeg. Great, great amp. Nice to see Lee get some recognition!
This and that are very much much the same.
XLS is like VL but without reverb, it has footswitchable tube fx loop and clean channel with more headroom and without master volume. I'm trying to find XLS head for about two years now. I live in Europe so it's not easy ;p
I love that “mids-for-days” setting
Killer amplifier as always Lee Jackson delivers every time! I used one of these and an older Create stealth back in 1998. Great demo!
Had one of these in the late 90s early 2000s for a short time before I moved on to a 5150II. Picked up the VL1002 cause Tom Delonge used one in the early days of Blink. Kind of wish I still had it after watching this video. Back then I had no idea how to dial in tone and the 5150II had more gain on tap. Peavey was also a bigger name back than in the guitar world I feel. Sounds like it would be great for skate punk.
I have a VL-1002 with matching Ampeg/Celestion slant cab, had them for about 25 years now. These amps have a design flaw related to the marquee lighting circuit, mine has been modded to bypass, it is the same mod Lee Jackson does in a video here on YT. I switched mine from EL34 to 6550 in about 2004 and it made it a lot more aggressive.
Flying low there big fella 😉
Also, never knew this amp existed - awesome demo 🤘
Thanks!
Thanks so much, Ted!
It's definitely a tone machine , sounds fantastic.
I would love to hear a demo of this amp with an eq pedal and bbe in the effects loop and a tube screamer in front.
I'm not 100% but I believe these were the amps used by Doyle in the Graves era Misfits. Seen a few through the years being they were made in St Louis. Unfortunately I never played one when I knew what I was doing or how to eq an amp. Some would debate I still don't!
Yeah, I'll second that. To be honest, I think it's more the fact that you REALLY need to change your strings because your guitar sounds like it's strung with garden twine.
Oh, I'm under your bed btw.
i tried these when they came out. pretty cool. i think that was the sound on the first fight album.
Russ Parrish and Brian Tilse both used Ampeg amps on the first Fight shows at The Mason Jar in Phoenix, AZ. I was there and had an unusual vantage point. 🎸🇺🇸
@@chuckdriver8269Those guys kicked ass, Russ now does Steel Panther and still kicks ass!! But the sound they had was so brutal but cutting at the same time!!
I have had two of these heads with two matching cabinets for 10 years. I don't know, I've been thinking about trading for some Mesa Boogie or evh stacks. I love the sound of them. Not sure if I really want to give them up.
Never part with mine man in Australia I'd never find another one they're scarce as fuck here
@@screamingtubes6683just now seeing your comment. Yeah I don't think I'm ever going to give them up. They were my first real tube amps. Only paid about $400 a piece for them. Can't even find the cabinets anymore. Mine are in mint condition. I've been using them a lot lately. I think I just got bored with the tone. But I have a new appreciation for them
Just bought one of these for 400 at a local music go round based off this video. Sounds really good
That is one sweet looking Les Paul! The amp sounds pretty damn good too!
From that first riff I loved it. Never heard of this thing. Did he also do the Crate Stealth? Ever try that?
Repair/service shops put a metal strap over the EL34/6550 switch b/c if it gets bumped and moves to the wrong setting it toasts the entire amp so check that it gets protected. Jimmy Page blew one accidentally thinking it was a tube simulation thing! Metallica used one to "bring up the mids" on thier last album. I think Zakk and maybe Paul Guilbert used them for a short bit.
Thank you so much for making this video. It is so hard to find worthwhile vids of this or the Crate Stealth 100 and I have been curious about both. I have been thinking about my next amp and the JCM 800 route is probably where I am headed as I have most other flavors covered. It's between this, Crate Stealth and Splawn Quickrod for me.
Of course! Go Splawn Quick Rod if you're looking for hot rodded 800 tones!
If you look at my channel you can see my crate stealth
I had one of those back in 97
I would sell my soul to have this amp as a preamp either as a tube rack pre or a solid state pedal. I love their tone so much, it's super nostalgic for me and the sound of this amp is my childhood and why I picked up guitar, they're just not reliable. I'm to the point I'd pay to have a hand wired clone made, just the gain channel and no clean channel or reverb or attenuator, just strip it down and make it bullet proof
I did all the recommended Lee Jackson mods to my vl1002 in addition to changing some electrolytic capacitors for newer ones (all electrolytic caps go bad eventually) and it has been more reliable than any of my newer amps. including mesa boogie, fender, peavey, and so on. Any amp tech with basic soldering skills can accomplish these mods and I HIGHLY suggest anyone with this amp do it. prob a $250 investment to make this amp bullet proof
I should add, the heater wire mod is the most important
Lee Jackson mods and cleaning power tube cathodes grounds (they're almost always rusty) or running ground wires to psu board like they did later on VL-503 to eleminate that problem. It's on their support site as bias mod schematics (1995 update). Mine is like a tank now. Ther's also single channel version, VL501, VL1001.
I used to have a perfect connection gp1000 preamp which is basically this amo as a preamp. Current prices dictate you may have to sell your soul to get one.
@@KamilT138 are you an amplifier tech by chance? I have a question about my Vl502
Your channel has become my favorite one amongst all amp reviewers! Keep the great stuff!
That is so rad to hear! Thanks so much for being here
@@belligerentamateur btw, which speakers did you use? V30s?
@@ScarredPredator yessir, 16 ohm UK v30
I had to sell my VL-1002 about ten years ago. On the hunt for another one. I'm still so mad for selling it
7:40 If you don't sweep the mid level when choosing different frequencies on the selector you won't really get what it's doing.
I've owned an XLS 500 and a VL-1002. I can tell you they are nearly identical in sound, despite the circuit being different. If they were both side by side, I don't think I could tell a difference, but Lee says the XLS was his crowning achievement. I would imagine the components are a little better and the circuit was refined, so if I had to choose between the two, I'd pick the XLS. I've also owned a Crate Stealth, which is a completely different animal and sounds nothing like these other two.
I liked my XLS with the preamp set to 8 and the "more" knob set to 20. Cranking the pre past 8 resulted in a very squishy sound. If you're into the stoner metal, High On Fire, Orange type of sound, that might be your thing, but I prefered a punchier sound, so I had to dial it back a bit.
I liked using the built in power soak for recording leads in the studio, as it gave the expected soaring lead tone you'd expect. But I usually left it off for normal band practice and shows.
I did the Lee recommended service mods to my XLS and VL (videos of him guiding you through it here on TH-cam), and there's one that he leaves out that may be affecting your VL if the sound is cutting in and out. There's another molex style connector that goes from the power board to the pre amp board, it's got three yellow wires and one shielded black and white cable. Those wires are just crimped into the connectors, not soldered. I had to replace those with solderable connectors and the amp was solid from that point on.
The 5 way mid voice switch was something Lee did to many of the Marshalls he modded. I think he offers it as a standard pack in his mod kid.
Good to know! I also just bought an Ampeg VL-501 to add to this, curious how they will compare, hoping neither catch fire
@@belligerentamateur I have zero experience with that amp, but my guess it is similar to the Lee Jackson XLA series. Rumor has it the XLA was the exact circuit he built for many of the LA players of the 80's.
Tell us some speaker and tube specs.
Tom DeLonge of Blink182 used these heads back in the day before he switched to Mesa Rectifiers.
Please do the crate stealth next love that amp
Coming up soon!
I have one of these, I have been waiting to see how you would dial the amp in.
digging this with the boost and drop D despite not being a huge Lee Jackson fan. Watched a Stone Sour studio documentary the other day and they used this a fair bit from what I remember
I should add - I don’t think Lee Jackson was ever known for diode clipping mods, he often added valve gain stages though. The 2 gain controls thing often stems from plexi style amps having the bass and treble channels that (when modified) get cascaded into each other and you can basically control how how one stage hits the next.
These amps are awesome I have the vl-1002 vl-502 and vl-503 combo. I love Lee Jackson stuff so I went a little crazy getting some of his amps. I also have the Crate Stealth , XLA-500 ,and his perfect connection preamp.
How does the ampeg compares with the crate? Which one would you say that sounds better? Thanks!
@@ceniam12 I think the ampeg sounds better the vl-1002 and vl-502 a pretty close. The vl-503 has 3 channels vs the 2 channels so it a little different but they all sound great. I agree that they lack some bottom end, but nothing an eq in the loop can't fix.
@@dsoxgm thanks for answering mate! Actually I have a VL1002 and I think it sounds amazing, but I've read a lot of bad comments about the crate and just wondering if they would say the same about the ampeg 🤷♂️ the tone of the VL is awesome in my opinion
Bonjour. Quelle est la marque et le modèle de l'avant dernière pédale d'effet à droite? Merci
I have the Crate version of this amp. When Lee Jackson left Marshall he designed this and the Crate version around the same time. There are slight differences. Neal Schon actually used the Crate version at one point. I need to make a good demo of mine. The Crate version has an amazing clean that seems to be modeled after the Bassman. The dirty on the Crate has two gain stages. I don't know how he did it but it's a two channel amp BUT that second gain stage can only be accessed with a foot switch pedal. Oh and it seems to get a little flubby with the increased low end.
The two gain stages are the same. It allows you to run two different settings. Like maybe one for rhythm, and one for lead.
@@TheCyberMantis They're not the same. I own the Ceate, I know what I'm talking about. There are two channels. The second channel has two gain staged and the second (once again as I've mentioned already) can ONLY be accessed with the foot pedal switch. If it was the same you wouldn't need the pedal to access it.
@@RokDAWG1 I also own the Crate amp. Believe whatever you want.
@@TheCyberMantis Not only will I believe what I want, I'll also believe...THE OWNER'S MANUAL. I just read the part where it clearly states that all sound on channel 2 will revert to gain 1 UNLESS THERE'S A FOOT SWITCH CONNECTED. That means you can turn that second gain knob all day and night & without a FOOT SWITCH connected there will be NO ADDITIONAL GAIN. So, YES, I will continue to believe what I want to believe.
@@RokDAWG1 I think you are confused. You are literally just repeating what I originally said. Because I think you misunderstood what I originally said. Or... you think something else is going on here. Either way... please lay off the drugs.
I thought I saw somewhere that there was an issue with these overheating. I saw one come up for sale recently locally, but I stayed away from it for that reason.
There is a molex connector that gets hot and can have issues. Lee Jackson shows how to fix the issue on his youtube page.
Dude don’t sleep on these. The repairs to fix are easy and I did mine myself. Killer killer amp
Amp used on fight war of words cd
My first amp God I loved that amp
I’m pretty sure that lee Jackson was modding marshalls for Zakk wild back in early days There were some actual lee Jackson amps that sorta looked like marshalls back then. Then he started licensing these Ampegs for a short time but it was only like a year or so. Also to make matters worse , they were putting out solid state amps That looked almost identical. So you had people trying to pass those off for sale as Lee Jackson’s.
Love mine man, best amp I ever had and still have
wow, nice sound, sorry my english is bad, what is the bridge pickup ?
Have one 2 metres away from me. Owned it for years.
Still got mine
Hey Kyle, have you ever tried one of the metaltronix amps? I just grabbed a blues ‘59 been trying to find info on it.
I have a metaltronix m-1000. Love it !
The blink-182 Cheshire Cat/Dude ranch tour amp
remember this amp from the zakk wylde ads in the 90s. Just because you could lock the amp with a key.
Lee ist a Genius 🤘 Love this Amp 👍
These amps are the sound of the first (maybe 2nd) Fight record.
Great demo. I have the VL502 and the single channel VL1001
Does the VL-1001 have as much gain? I've always been curious because they seem more appealing being a more stripped down amp
@@russiangoose7053 yeah I think the VL1001 has tad more gain than the VL501, at least to my ears. The VL1001 sounds a lot bigger too
@@MesaBVHT I have a VL-502 that's been a bit of a basket case but I love these amps so much I've wanted to buy another one and I've seen a VL-1001 for cheap and hoped it was equally as aggressive haha

EQ is active, that's why it's sensitive. the high control cuts lows at 250hz when you turn it down and boost 5k when you turn it up. according to the manual "preamp" is level fed to the circuit. "gain" seems to be diode clipping. tube effects loop, so a jumper might have given it some more ass. what a strange circuit. a depth mod would make it kind of an ultimate modded marshall.
The eq is not active! It's a passive marshall style eq with the difference of a selectable treble cap. The whole amp is basically a 2203 with an additional tube stage and no diode clipping in the gain channel and a fender blackface style clean. Preamp and Gain are just gain controls. Preamp sits right after the first stage. Gain sits after the second stage.
@@UncleBensRice okay but if you read the manual, it most certainly says it is.
@@xsonicassassinx Take a look at the schematic. It's definitely passive.
@@UncleBensRice I don’t give a hot goddamn about a schematic. The manual calls it + and - db at certain frequency with the center called flat. It also behaves like an active eq. Walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it’s not a giraffe.
“Preamp” is an input pad. Pure level. “Gain” says distortion and compression. We call that clipping.
@@xsonicassassinx And I don't fucking care about your manual. The eq is passive and not active look it up. If they define the middle position as flat of course you will get a positive boost cw and negative cut ccw. A passive filternetwork also has a somewhat set frequency points for each of the controls. Both of these points won't make an passive eq become active. There is a reason why they call it "flat" in the manual because they know that this particular style of eq isn't flat und the most flat position would be with the bass at 1 mids at 10 and treble at 0 that's actually as flat as it can get but will sound like crap.
And the gain controls just allow you to dial how the amp distorts. The preamp sets the overall level of gain after the first gain stage (which is relatively clean running in most cases) and gain allows you to dial in how hard the later stages are hit after the second stge.
I've had mine since 92.
Howdy Kyle! I have one of these and I love it! Question, did you run this demo with EL34 power tubes, or 6550/KT88's? I have 6550's in mine and I definitely have more low end grunt than it did with the EL34's. Thanks!
There’s a really dirty one sitting at a music shop in Buffalo for like 350 bucks lol. As long as the Lee Jackson electrical connector modifications have been done to them they are decent amps. If not you’ll have a nuclear meltdown inside
Have you ever tried a Laney VH100r?
Not yet!
Used to own this one when it first came out
This Ampeg was and still is a staple in tons of death metal bands arsenal. I'm pretty sure Dying Fetus still uses this amp today.
John Gallagher of DF used or maybe still uses the VH-140C, not this model. The VH-140C is a solid state amp and has a crushing tight distortion. Supposedly the Amptweaker Tight Metal Pro pedal gets very close to the VH-140C sound.
I think you're thinking of the VH140C
Rob Halford's band from the 90's, Fight, used to use these. One of the guitar players was Russ Parrish, mostly known as Satchel today from Steel Panther.
I believe they used the solid state Ampeg VH140C
How does this compare to the Peavey VTM? Seems like they'd be similar
The Peavey is more....Peavey. Has more of that Peavey 6L6/Upper mid wah sound going on.
Ampeg VL's and Lee Jackson XLS are killer amps. I have VL and now I'm trying to find XLS
Same!
Lee Jackson? The same guy who made the Metaltronix amps?
I have 3 of these (two 1002s and 1 502) - The two 1002s are purple stripe and the 502 has a white stripe. It has something to do with what year they were made I think but not sure.
As someone else noted, these amps do have a bad history as they are prone to a few different failures. The bean counters @ Ampeg and/or SLM (Saint Louis Music) cut a few corners from the original design thus we have heater wires going through molex connectors that can't handle the load and a few other pieces of silliness. Lee Jackson has a free video (now - I paid for my DVD) on how to fix this amp and make it better than new. I've done those mods to all of mine (all three of them had failed or were failing). They all work great now.
Incidentally, the "Power Attenuator" is marketing speak for Post-Phase-Inverter-Master-Volume (PPIMV). And for the pre-amp and gain knobs, they are just pots for two individual gain stages - no diode distortion here. That they called one preamp and one gain and not both volume or both gain or whatever, they are both preamp controls. Smells like more marketing..
Good info, thanks for dropping this here!
Yes great info.
I love my VL 502!
VL-1001 just a one channel version?
Awesome guitar playing
Thank you, my friend
Any idea if that Rampage pickup is the alnico or ceramic version? Sounds killer!
Alnico!
@@belligerentamateur Fuck yeah! Thanks so much!
Hey Kyle! Ever think of trying out the Quilter OD202 head? Converge/Old Man Gloom/Cave-In use them live, and I was wondering if it was something that was on your radar.
I haven't but I'm certainly down to check it out!
Always wanted one of these, sounds absolutely killer!
Kyle have you ever heard of Red Bear Amps? They were a Russian amp in the 90's if I'm not mistaken and I think similar to the Ampeg if memory serves me correctly
I just learned about these recently. They are pretty cool
@@swampman543211 I’ve never heard of those to be honest LOL gonna do some research on them now :b
@@Yellowcard7572 it was weird i was randomly invited to a red bear amp group on facebook despite never hearing of them so they piqued my interest
RedBear Amps were basically relabeled Novik amps that were sold through Gibson: built in St. Petersburg and designed by Ralf Reichen from Tonehunter. Got a Novik N1202 here - they’re basically all JCM800 designs with an added clean channel and the opportunity to put the first clean gainstage in front of the lead channel. Smart design, great sound and maybe the loudest amps I’ve ever played / worked on!
Novik is still making them today as far as I know!
Yep, seen them round a bunch but never played them.
I never seen an amp that has a LOCK on the front of it.
I have a CRATE Stealth, so this is probably similar. My Stealth is from the 90's, it probably needs a re-cap job. It sits in my closet. I use a Boss Katana head now. Katana can get all these tones.
I've been searching for this amp for years 😒 I played one back in the 90s. Always wanted 1. Missed on on Reverb year's ago for about $800.0. I'd give my left one for one lol
there is one for sale on guitar centers used site right now for $950
@@belligerentamateur shipping to Canada might be pricey, thanks though I'll see what I can work out. This amp has always gotten away from me, this and the Peavey VTM120 head lol
First tube amp I ever owned
Russ Parrish used it in Fight
Over on my channel is my crate stealth, the predecessor to the ampeg, also designed by Lee Jackson
Will there be profiles?
Unfortunately no, I filmed this and sold it before I got the Kemper
Zakk Wylde endorsed these back around "No More Tears"
NEVER LOSE THE KEY!
Ive had 2 modded jmp 2203's and a laney gh100l that walked all over the vl1002 I had, probly one of the worst tube heads I have had, and before you get started I had a tech go comletely through it etc and even listenned to the amp with the bias wheel in play to find a sweet spot still nada zip zilch. Ive played pv windsors that sounded better. Hugest dissapointment on my paul gilbert lead/ dino high gain marshall tone quest.
guitar center $950. Were the keys with it?
I didn't get this one from GC, and no keys
Give that head Ibanez RG with EMG 81 🥰
Love the comedy!!!!
