I think all they had to do was keep the same bass as the original Blast but improve the trebles. They were quite recessed on my Blast. Also, I have predicted that the extra electronics for the karaoke was not going to bode well for the sound quality. Let's wait for the full review and see . It was definitely an unnecessary addition for those of us who just want better sound compared to the original Blast. How many of the people interested in the Blast 2 were thinking, I can't wait for the karaoke feature. 😅
Which is why this is the blast xl, not the blast 2. Tribit wanted to take on the bb3 while being more for the party crowd. Trouble is they are late to the market and bb3 is not the only game in town.

Hmmm...Alan's first unboxing video, not bad she said😁 First impressions ain't the final stage yet, break in, some updates, some custom Eq...we'll know it's full potential then, defaults doesn't do justice mostly to the sound quality From this first listen, I'll say it definitely has more bass than the OG blast but the OG blast sounds more relaxing & full to my ears at least 10 watts input for charging an approximately 90 wh (24,300 mah) battery is insane, it'll take ages to get fully charged, taking 3 - 5hrs via mains to fully charge by my guess will be taking around 25 - 30 watts of power Overall, i await your full review & comparisons especially with the OG blast, X20, Boombox 3, Boombox 3 wifi, Go +play3....i believe those are some of the competitors among others, only then can we know whether it's worth it or not especially for the asking price of $300 I haven't seen you run the Boom 2 of soundcore in TWS let's know how it sounds as compared to just one with that single woofer & two tweeters & again whether or not the TWS connection is fiddly or well made like the OG Boom Your channel is the one i believe & trust most so long as BT speaker is concerned, i await on a lot if confirmations from you before making certain decisions on bt speakers More power to you Alan Cheers!
SB1- Clearer and louder voice SB2- Bass is booming like a proper portable concert machine but tinier voice its like the speaker has comparable sound output to Tronsmart Bang Max more bass but reduces the voice clarity and loudess almost same with other sound box with Karaoke function since here in Philippines people is Karaoke addicts and soundbox, boom box is the 1st choice due to it's portability ( Dunno but even in small time SB1 is better with me, waiting for firmware update to SB2 to see if the new one can match the clarity and voice loudness of the SB1)
Just got it today… xtra bass and 3d are horrible. Messed with the Eq a bit (I have no knowledge on frequencies and such only that the left side is bass focused and the right side bands treble) and I managed to get some more life out of it, even a bit more volume. There’s potential within the custom Eq and can’t wait to see if you can find one that’s atleast half as good as the one you made for the first one
Blast 2 doesn't support aac, already this alone gives the X20 the win. It was the sbc codec that ruined my impression of Blast 1. sbc introduces a high frequency squeal when playing deep bass at high volume. I tested several speakers and headphones and all of them had this squeak when using sbc, if you use aac, aptx, ldac there is no squeak. I tested with different smartphones on android and iOS and was convinced that this is exactly the problem of sbc codec. It can be heard in a small number of tracks, exactly when playing, only deep bass and to it is added high-frequency whistling, which is not in the track.
Well, you have the pre production unit and the standard Blast 2 so now you just need the Jay's iyagi version where the frequency response stays exactly the same at all volume steps. Jk. 🤭 😇 Thank you for another great one, Alan! Looking forward to the full review! 😁👏👍

I am actually using the 2x Tribit Stormbox Blast for outside listening quite often, even carying them for longer distances with a suitcase and a kickscooter. The idea to carry this by hand or shoulder is ridiculous, carrying a weight like that onesided over a distance will give you back/shoulderpain after a few times, and I consider myself fit with 30 years. All those big stupid ass bluetooth speakers have stupid ass big hard fixed handles taking 30% of space in a suitcase. Or just be done with it and add some small rolls. Or small strap attachments that dont take any space, like with the JBL extreme 4. We invented perfect inexpensive handles for suitcases that fold decades ago, why can't they do it. A Earfun Uboom X would have perfect measurements, even for carrying two in one backpack, if not for the stupid ass handles. Also I like that you call this a Stormbox Blast XL, I dont want anything bigger than the the Stormbox Blast 1. I actually wish that there would be a decent medium size party speaker with support for "partycast" with just the deepest bass possible for the weight class around 3-4 kg, so that I can decide if I need 1-2 or 4. The Uboom almost got that but misses a bit, the Boom 2 Plus is also not worth it.
I don't know why I can't find anything that sounds better than my Klipsch Pro-Media 2.1 that I got used for $150 or something. It just doesn't have the oppressive upper based a lot of the speakers have.

This speaker is let down by its veiled treble response, which lacks detail compared to competitors like the Sonos. Lead instruments lack high-end shimmer, and sibilants, like cymbals, sound a little muted. It also results in the upper harmonics of vocals losing some presence.
I can see unboxing isn't your thing but it was done Alan style. But I'm sure you will get down to biznezzz and see what the TSBB2 brings to the table. That initial test sounded ok to me..I'm sure like you said it will take a few days to adjust to the way it sounds. Also looking fwd as you compare it with other Bluetooth speakers
The only BTS channel reviewer that i personally trust, more informative than the other, it's you that always I waited since the leak of Stormbox blast 2
The highs seems more natural on the 2 (exit the big dip at 5.5khz) and the sound is bigger for sure, can't wait for the measurement and your final opinion :D
only 7kg not too bad but i am done with portable audio i think the edifier d12 with a subwoofer is better unfortunately my whaferdale diamond 9.1 died so hopefully the edifier d12 is better

OK, I am definitiely looking forward to your full video on it and certainly the side by side with the x20 which they clearly were going after. I REALLY agree with you it sounded muddy in this initial take.Yeah a little mid-bass heavy? But certainly not full Boom 2 Plus levels. IT sounds like it will be pretty popular for the beach. I will be interested in teh 80-100% volume as well as that was the main flaw of the OG blast (in my opinion). And really, it is not so much a "flaw" as them trying to squeeze every 10th of a db they could hahah. My gut feeling is that the stock tuning on the x20 is a lot clearer than that Blast 2. Hopefully the custom eq will have enough oomf to bring the Blast 2 to life... Funny thinking about the x20 is that I bought it to hopefully be a simple bass practice amp and it kinda sucked at that but man, if you needed a single speaker to bring somewhere where it needed to be LOUD, well.. there it is. I don't really have that need but it also is the speaker I grab if I do want some volume and don't want to care about damage to the speaker.
yeah i got 112db on my test track for the x20. it will take something to beat that. this thing is crazy mid bass heavy! and with eq you can even push that more 🤣 but for me in that xbass mode its unlistenable as the bass overwhelms everything.

They've said that the only thing that wont be to everyones taste is that the sound signatures are slightly different but would sound good in my opinion the blend of the two. Could always use the EQs or custom one or the other for nearest match which I'm sure would work well.👍.
Just got my blast 2. I like it overall. It doesn't play as deep as I was hoping for but its decent down to about 40hz. There's some bass down to 35 hz but its extremely rolled off. It's definitely mid bass heavy. You can really feel the bass rumbling into your chest. I compared it to my encore and it has more overall bass then the encore which is impressive but the encore does have a more refined bass that digs a touch deeper but its not a huge difference. You do have to max out bass in the custom eq to beat the encore, but if you just use the presets, the encore still wins. Maxing out bass in the custom eq is impressive, but way way to bass dominant. I compared it to a skullcandy barrel xt and it makes the barrel sound like a toy. It has far more bass power then a go play 3. Bass on the play 3 is imo more refined. If tribit can retune the bass to be less mid bass heavy it would be better. Encore plugged in still beats the blast 2 in bass. But not much. Some tracks the blast 2 bass sounds more impressive and vice-versa
@Flyingboots1 the 3d sound is strange. I can't get used to it. It works but I don't think it sounds all that great. The tuning does seam a bit v shaped.
Blast 2 aka blast XXL sounds so damn muffled compared to OG BLAST. It's actually worse than the older version. Waste of money. Did you try the setting 3D in Blast2 compared to XBass in Blast 1? What do you think Alan about between these two specific settings?
@@StayReal02 at louder volumes it works as a party speaker. At lower volumes you need to turn xbass off. Blast 1 and blast xl are geared at two different types of listeners

I like the Tribit Blast old better. Seems like W-king is better than Blast 2 😢 in terms of price to performance. Tribit blast still had it's own place.

Heavier/bigger, less clarity/more bass, more expensive. A definite step down. I already knew that the second iteration will be worse as the first one was so good.
I dont think oluvs tuning of the uboom x is anything that special, it probably is to most people but its a highly EQ able speaker and everyone has different tastes, i prefer my own tuning. You should have a play about with it imo
Sad to see you so disappointed, I'm sure I gonna get this, looks good, have better lights, probably gonna be a great outdoor speaker, but for 7kg it's way to heavy and big to take on a longer trip, thats why I love my boom plus, featherlight and still packs a punch outdoor. But it will be wery exciting to se your final review on this one.
Ok, from the little testing you did here. The OG blast seems way better. I don't really see the point of the second version. To expensive, to heavy, to big, to muddy. And i really liked the OG blast design, besides the silly lights. If you can get anything out of it that beats the OG i would be surprised. The only thing they needed to do to the old blast was. Give it a USB C charger port. Fix the dip and give it a bit more power and it would have been a good upgrade. Why mess with a winner and put out something worse. I don't get don't they have ears.....
@@alanrossreviews I like to be wrong of course. If they have something that beats the OG and the maybe the X20 they have something special otherwise..... It was a dud. And even worse there is no good reason to buy it over the OG. I mean the X20 and the OG blast was some of the best. The OG blast up until it started to get maxed out and then the X20 started to really take over, if I remember things right from your testing.

I recieved mine yesterday , the blast one seems better to me ,the sound is fuller and the mids and voice are louder on the first one , the second one only has better bass range ,but high hz bass sounds fuller on the first one same with mids and voice , you think tribit will retune the second one ? I dont wanna return it but i might need too as the sound stage isnt good for the speaker its size

The highs seems more natural on the 2 (exit the big dip at 5.5khz) and the sound is bigger for sure, can't wait for the measurement and your final opinion :D

OK, I am definitiely looking forward to your full video on it and certainly the side by side with the x20 which they clearly were going after. I REALLY agree with you it sounded muddy in this initial take.Yeah a little mid-bass heavy? But certainly not full Boom 2 Plus levels. IT sounds like it will be pretty popular for the beach. I will be interested in teh 80-100% volume as well as that was the main flaw of the OG blast (in my opinion). And really, it is not so much a "flaw" as them trying to squeeze every 10th of a db they could hahah.
My gut feeling is that the stock tuning on the x20 is a lot clearer than that Blast 2. Hopefully the custom eq will have enough oomf to bring the Blast 2 to life...
Funny thinking about the x20 is that I bought it to hopefully be a simple bass practice amp and it kinda sucked at that but man, if you needed a single speaker to bring somewhere where it needed to be LOUD, well.. there it is. I don't really have that need but it also is the speaker I grab if I do want some volume and don't want to care about damage to the speaker.
yeah i got 112db on my test track for the x20. it will take something to beat that. this thing is crazy mid bass heavy! and with eq you can even push that more 🤣 but for me in that xbass mode its unlistenable as the bass overwhelms everything.

They've said that the only thing that wont be to everyones taste is that the sound signatures are slightly different but would sound good in my opinion the blend of the two.
Could always use the EQs or custom one or the other for nearest match which I'm sure would work well.👍.
Just got my blast 2. I like it overall. It doesn't play as deep as I was hoping for but its decent down to about 40hz. There's some bass down to 35 hz but its extremely rolled off. It's definitely mid bass heavy. You can really feel the bass rumbling into your chest. I compared it to my encore and it has more overall bass then the encore which is impressive but the encore does have a more refined bass that digs a touch deeper but its not a huge difference. You do have to max out bass in the custom eq to beat the encore, but if you just use the presets, the encore still wins. Maxing out bass in the custom eq is impressive, but way way to bass dominant. I compared it to a skullcandy barrel xt and it makes the barrel sound like a toy. It has far more bass power then a go play 3. Bass on the play 3 is imo more refined. If tribit can retune the bass to be less mid bass heavy it would be better. Encore plugged in still beats the blast 2 in bass. But not much. Some tracks the blast 2 bass sounds more impressive and vice-versa
If all you care about is bass then this speaker is perfect for you.
@Flyingboots1 the 3d sound is strange. I can't get used to it. It works but I don't think it sounds all that great. The tuning does seam a bit v shaped.

It's actually worse than the older version. Waste of money.
Did you try the setting 3D in Blast2 compared to XBass in Blast 1?

@@StayReal02 at louder volumes it works as a party speaker. At lower volumes you need to turn xbass off. Blast 1 and blast xl are geared at two different types of listeners

I dont think oluvs tuning of the uboom x is anything that special, it probably is to most people but its a highly EQ able speaker and everyone has different tastes, i prefer my own tuning. You should have a play about with it imo
Sad to see you so disappointed, I'm sure I gonna get this, looks good, have better lights, probably gonna be a great outdoor speaker, but for 7kg it's way to heavy and big to take on a longer trip, thats why I love my boom plus, featherlight and still packs a punch outdoor. But it will be wery exciting to se your final review on this one.

The OG blast seems way better.
I don't really see the point of the second version.
To expensive, to heavy, to big, to muddy.
And i really liked the OG blast design, besides the silly lights.
If you can get anything out of it that beats the OG i would be surprised.
The only thing they needed to do to the old blast was. Give it a USB C charger port.
Fix the dip and give it a bit more power and it would have been a good upgrade.
Why mess with a winner and put out something worse. I don't get don't they have ears.....
Its way too early to say, may this will be a learning curve for everyone how long it takes to evaluate a speaker properly 🤷

And even worse there is no good reason to buy it over the OG.

I recieved mine yesterday , the blast one seems better to me ,the sound is fuller and the mids and voice are louder on the first one , the second one only has better bass range ,but high hz bass sounds fuller on the first one same with mids and voice , you think tribit will retune the second one ? I dont wanna return it but i might need too as the sound stage isnt good for the speaker its size
