Wowww.......Surprise me to see this video. Sonnywills with the Master Of Language Mr. Steve Kaufmann. I have seen Mr. Steve with young Polyglot from Japan KAZUMA. Now the chance with Sonnywills. All of you motivate me to learn other languages. Stay healthy to Mr. Steve and success for Sonnywills. Saya banyak belajar dari channelnya. Salam dari Sumatera Palembang Bro. Sonny.
Wow! Super awesome you got to talk with the living legend himself, Steve Kauffman! I hope he really starts learning Indonesian, & honestly I’m surprised he hasn’t learned it to even a beginner’s level. I actually started learning Bahasa Indonesia off & on for about a year (usually once or twice a week). Now I’m mainly focusing on Portuguese & trying to perfect my Spanish so I’m fluent instead of nearly fluent. Motivation is definitely the key. I’m interested in Spanish being that my mom’s family speaks it & it’s useful. And I really love Brazil & it’s history, music, & people so it made it even easier for me to learn it. But also, I absolutely LOVE almost everything about Indonesia (& the Melayu speaking regions of SE Asia in general) & when I saw you also were an Indonesian polyglot I subscribed over a year ago. You’ve come a long way. Congrats & keep it up, bro!
I’m really impressed for many languages Steve Kaufman manage well including mandarin and Cantonese (he even speaks Cantonese better than I do as a native mandarin and Cantonese speaker😢).To be honest, he is a real inspirational person👍👍

Steve is among the most humble people I know that are Polyglots, each time I've seen an interview with him, he's always grateful for the opportunities he has had in learning languages, and for the experiences he has had while doing so, and even so while he finds it more difficult to keep up with all of the languages he has learnt so far, his age is also a good reason for that.
Haha, good wife questions...watched many steve interviews and never heard so much about his wife... my wife didn't move to the US from Asia until almost middle age and it took her less than one week to speak English without an accent; within a year she had her first book published and soon after became a professional editor... so I'm all foreign language enthusiast and I struggle learning languages, while my wife has a way way deeper vocabulary and grammar understanding than me in my native English, let alone that she picks up other languages very easily but has absolutely no interest in learning them, other than if there is some "great piece of literature" she'll insist on reading it in the native script...that is the only overlap, that we both are able to easily read languages... my wife also refuses to speak anything but English unless she's speaking to someone who speaks only another language (my best guess is she hates language switching (she also gets really annoyed if asked to translate anything)), so I had to teach our kids all of their languages without any help...
I am a Linguist, and interpreter in several languages. I'm impressed how well you speak the languages you master. In my case, I speak one language at the time, and for me it is a NO-NO to mix languages, because it prevents me to speak other languages at the fluency level I need for my job as a licensed Court interpreter. I can switch from one language and 3-6 seconds later render what I understood in the other language, because I let my brain unconsciously to express in the target language, what I understood in the source language. It is easier said than done. To get to that level you have to learn more than the language and get involved with the culture, the literature, identity and traditions of the community of the languages you interpret. The best way to achieve that is living in the country or countries of said language, and better then, go to school there, and have some friends or share common interests with those speakers. Do not confuse translation with interpretation. Before you can become an interpreter, you must be a good translator. Translation takes care of the written language. Interpretation is the oral language, the speech. Because there are time constraints, 3 to 6 seconds, to render (say) in the other language, it is of utmost importance to understand what was said, before you can repeat it, in a language that you master, whatever you understood. It is that simple. Try doing that in two languages. I can do it in 5 languages, professionally. However, I know other additional languages, but I am not an interpreter in those languages.

Exemplo: caiu o lanche, você diria "puta merda" , ela entenderia, mas você falou "puta" ela imediatamente disse "ele me xingou, ele me xingou" e desligou.
That's true. One of my friends from Mexico texts me "puta" Every single day. I feel normal but when I'm in a bad mood I hate it. Lastly he texted me 'am I annoying?' I said 'yes you are'
Obrigada!
How am i keep smiling while watching and focusing this two very humble gentlemen chit chat on eachother 😊😊😊😊😊😁😁😁 Sehat dan sukses selalu buat ke2nya.. amin
He doesn't really speak AMAZING italian, but it's still impressive! And he knows 20+ languages, so it's hard to keep up. Tho he did an amazing job in Italian.
My worst experiences using slangs were all in spanish. No way I'll remember every situation, but the word "cabrón" had too much of a meaning variation. In some places people became very sad, offended, when I naturally spoke it once in a while.
@@rrsharizam worth mentioning... Native level, only 3: Portuguese, Spanish and English. I can use 4 more, Italian, French, japanese and Latin, but not as freely. I went to Suriname once, where I also got the hang of their weird-grammar-Dutch.
@RR Sharizam As a speaker of the three of them *and Latin* , I disagree. Sardinian is a dialect of Latin, You could say it's the only "trully living latin" around, a dialect. The remaining successors of latin all became languages on their own. Many point to the creation of 'ecclesiastical latin', by order of Charlemangne, as the start of the languages becoming disconnected. After rennaissance and the access to education improved, people started to read latin again, the languages re-converged a bit... Only to diverge again, with the birth of nationalism.
append: The italian mass migrations did a number on the way portuguese, spanish and english are spoken. The pronounciation _en genere_ became a bit closer, yet again. It did cause weird old italian language pockets in some places, as with 'talian' in Brazil, but it did bring us closer together in the end.
Amazing!!! I wish one day I can speak fluently and full of confidence I only know English& Indonesia/a little bit Malay but I don't have the confident to speak English, I tend to get tongue tight and lost of words on the middle of conversation
Thanks for having me on, Sonny. It was a pleasure speaking with you.

That's true. One of my friends from Mexico texts me "puta" Every single day. I feel normal but when I'm in a bad mood I hate it. Lastly he texted me 'am I annoying?' I said 'yes you are'

Obrigada!

Two great icons and idols regarding languages mastering! Thanks for the video.
How many language do you know?
@@rrsharizam worth mentioning...
Native level, only 3: Portuguese, Spanish and English.
I can use 4 more, Italian, French, japanese and Latin, but not as freely.
I went to Suriname once, where I also got the hang of their weird-grammar-Dutch.
@@diogomm710 I don't count Italian, Spanish and Portuguese as 3 languages, but one language with different dialects
Saya suka bahasa Jawa🇮🇩 Thai 🇹🇭 Rusia 🇷🇺 inggris 🇬🇧 Italia 🇮🇹
Wow. My two inspiration at the same page 🙏🙏🙏😊🇹🇭
This is high level of learning language. Theyre really amazing
Wah, epik. Steve Kaufmann.
O português do BRASIL 🇧🇷 é um lindo idioma

Sigma Mr.Steve🔥🔥
Amazing!!! I wish one day I can speak fluently and full of confidence
I only know English& Indonesia/a little bit Malay but I don't have the confident to speak English, I tend to get tongue tight and lost of words on the middle of conversation
Just a great man👍!
Wish you have a strong health…!

My respects for those who speak all these languages
Me encantó su español, Saludos desde México.
