The race is amazing, but its the people that live in BC/BCS that make it what it is. Those ranchers that allow them race on their land, and the hospitable people that live along the way, makes it all possible. There are some pretty significant cave paintings that stretch throughout the peninsula. It is a truly rugged place.
You reminded me of some epic camp outs we had in the early 90s when we were chase crew for a 10 car and a challenge car. SNORE and HDRA races like Showboat 250, Twilight 200,, VEGAS to RENO, and of course the MINT 400 were in our backyard and we made the most of it. When my first child was 2 weeks overdue i strapped my wife in our desert runner, aa 1980 FORD FAIRMONT STATION WAGON and bounced down 10 miles of the recently raced Jean section of the mint course. BOOM! Next. Day, healthy baby daughter!
@@boxcarvisual yes, sir. She was a trooper. In labor just about the same length of time needed to complete a desert race in a Baja bug! (Class 11...not 5 unlimited...lol)
Awesome video, you're a great storyteller and I love the emotion. Your car related videos look really great and high quality, I'm surprised they don't have way more views. Keep doing what you're doing man and I hope to see more content from you!
I hope Ramirez Racing is still at it . 3 generations of racing when I met them years ago probably onto the fourth now . Nicest people you could ever meet . :)
I know they try to stagger classes to prevent issues but I can only imagine what it's like when one of the performance built vehicles comes from behind & breaths down your neck... Didn't know they made a follow up to Dust to Glory, will check it out.
Ford pretty much became the FIRST Car manufacturer to send their trucks to race it. It was then followed by a bunch of people. Especially the other big shots. Dakar was born after SCORE
I miss sal fish, he would personally shake your hand at the start and tell you to ride or drive safe, and "I'll see you at the finish line!" And he would personally shake your hand again at la paz or Ensenada depending on if it was the loop or not. Ever since sal sold SCORE it's never been the same.
I find it funny that this came up in my recommendations. Two weeks before the 2021 baja 1000. Especially since I have been watching baja 1000 videos lately.
Good video, just one question, why lovable looser class 11? You really need to have lots os skills and knowledge to race Baja 1000 specially class 11. Just think about it my friend.
You should check out Blake wikey’s class 11 for what it is the thing hauls ass! Those guys are the craziest of the whole bunch with like 4-9” wheel travel going over 3 foot bumps lol!
Yeah, sabotage...some people drag barbed wire onto the raceway, boards, broken glass and piles of rocks. It's not just a few jumps that are there today that weren't there yesterday.
Appreciate the comment! The Dakar Rally is definitely intense, and the race trucks are monsters...Both worth the watch! Gotta bring this up though... Baja is a part of Mexico.

I could not agree more. Well said.
Great video man, your passion is very evident, I appreciate the emotion! you did an amazing job of cramming 52 years of Baja history in 12 minutes!

What a great story... It sounds like your wife might have deserved a trophy more than the drivers that year!

That's a huge compliment! I really appreciate the kind words...sharing videos goes a long way. Definitely more to come.
Subscribed! This is beautiful!
Thanks Joseph! Glad you enjoyed it.

This is an amazing video. Thanks for making it. Dave from NTD Racing.
Im a class 11 driver... im a part for a race team 1121 H12:One racing... i hope you can watch the movie/documentary Dust to Glory 2..

Mickey Thompson founded SCORE.
You missed out on the FIRST Meyers Manx driven by John Crean in early 1967 who drove the first timed buggy ....... ???
This was great watch 👌
now I'm all chocked up

Haha, 7:30 kid yelling “a la verga” not sure it belongs in the Baja 1000 but oh well, A LA VERGA! Hahaha

Shout out to the TH-cam algorithm haha. I hope you watched/enjoyed it!
Oh yeah. This explains it. It’s the greatest greatest greatest race ever. Ever. You must must come down and see it in person.
Like the locals really have a choice at this point
Love your passion about the race and yes, trophy trucks are the fastest but to be honest, Class 11 drivers are friggin gods among the racers...
I Thought Motorcycles Were The Fastest.
Cool video!
And Baha is still as friendly as it was then great people down there I know I live there
lol the first pre-runner: a plane!

I completely agree with you! What I mean is that they are...um...mechanically disadvantaged haha.

Bochito is the toughest race vehicle out there. Definitely not “lovable losers”.
I was BFGAIR for 28 years of excitment.
Great video. What about Malcolm Smith.
there is an all women's race team who vehicle is sponsored by an erectile disfunction meds company lol
That's truly amazing on so many levels haha.
Damn 👌🏿🇲🇽

I do t know where it starts…or ends. I just know it’s in Baja, Mexico…
Hmm...I don't think Baja 1000 comes close to the Dakar in terms of global reach.
lol @ chupacabra
Actually, I'd say the Dakar is more "famous"
Dakar is the most famous off-road race in the world.
Not a bad video.
The greatest off-road race is the Dakar not Baja. Open your eyes and look out off the USA it's not the world
Appreciate the comment! The Dakar Rally is definitely intense, and the race trucks are monsters...Both worth the watch! Gotta bring this up though... Baja is a part of Mexico.
The baja is not in the US... but in Mexico... and is a totally different kind of race.
@@juancarlosrivera4419 I'm feeling "marginalized"
Baja is ultimate
Those dakar cars would break in BAJA CALIFORNIA MEXICO 🇲🇽
Its only famous for aMericans. The Dakar is the most famous in the world
