Well done its important to learn this skill before you are in a situation.
Thanks, really appreciate you kind words!🤗 Indeed, very important to train and get to know the equipment and your own abilities.
Check how they remount a surfski, keep the weight low, find balance and turn your bum in the seat. Flatwater is not the conditions which will capsize your kayak. Train in wind and waves too
Yes I seen things like that in TH-cam and it will be very good to practice in wind and waves!
You did really well with your re-entry practice in such cold conditions. When we learned assisted rescue in sea kayaks, we did the screw style where you re-enter on your belly with legs first into the cockpit. Then pump out the water with a bilge pump. For self rescue we climbed aboard cowboy style. I think the weight of the sea kayak would make it more stable than your lightweight kayak. Good luck. You've got this!
Thanks Janet, seems like you are a better cowboy than me!😍 always good to practice for emergencies. Yes I also think sea kayaks are more stable for re-entry.
Very useful and good fun! Been there, done that. 😎 Cowboy re-entry is actually harder than you'd think on the X500 and I wouldn't rely on it in a bit of waves - going up from the side is much easier, and I always bring a paddle float and bilge pump just in case as I often paddle in choppier waters. Have never managed to capsize other than for practice though..
Thanks for your input. You been paddling x500 really long, so a lot of experience!
@@danerik.westerlind Sure, but actually I also started out using SUP technique when first practicing re-entry with the X500. It's evident you have good use of your many years paddleboarding there, looks like a good start for practicing! Did the seat come loose at all during your practice sessions?
@AirOnTheWater Good to hear that you also started the sup way! Yes it did once when I got at lot of water in the kayak.
Here's a video where I spent some time practicing as well after a longer paddling trip: th-cam.com/video/QzM9LMBMCeM/w-d-xo.html
As well as given us a Swedish lesson, you are also showing us around Sweden. You are making me feel exhausted just watching you 🙂This was me as a kid trying to get into a canoe. Trying to get on one side and falling off the other side. Looks like your buoyancy aid needs tightening up a little. Love the Country and Western soundtrack 🙂 What is the water quality like where you are?
Is it like that, I think is the first time someone say it here on TH-cam but it have happened some times in my life that people say so🤣
Stay young and you will be young!
It is a loose fit/to big but really comfortable to paddle in. I going to buy a new pfd someday!
Water quality is good as long as it don’t rain a lot.
While comboying back on you really have to keep low and be very careful in maintaining the balance. th-cam.com/users/shortsMOtARfiVPYs?feature=share
