  • This is a lengthy and detailed video (no voice-over) on how I change a instant water heater. Do engage a professional instead if you are not experienced in any electrical work.
    Hardware shop price
1 x instant water heater (Brand: champs city) - $98
    Test Pen - $1.50
    Lazada Affiliate links
Champs city instant water heater- bit.ly/3Qi5umV - $74.50
This repair took me about 40 mins
Remember to take photo and put wires back to the same terminal. You do not need multi-meter for this repair as usually it is cheaper to replace a new instant water heater with warranty rather than changing the damaged parts.
WARNING: Do checks multiple time to ensure the MCB is turn off & no electric supply going in. Ensure all connections are in correct terminal. Electrical Shocks could result into death, engage a professional electrician is recommended if you are not experience in electrical works.
Disclaimer: I am not certified handyman or electrical work, just use what I learn in school and please do it at your own risk
All the videos are my first time doing the project. I would share what I have experience and video record along the way. It might not be the correct way. Do give advise and I will keep learning and improve.💪💪
Hope my sharing save you some money💰💰💰 and provide you with some free knowledge.

Now you know his workmanship😜. Better to be safe, usually we won't pull it down so is ok but if you have kids it could be dangerous.

Hi bro, how to control the water level by using which knob?

Hi bro. Hope I understand it correctly. For my video, there is 2 ways to control the water flow both located at the cold water side. One is the tap & second is the valve mounted on the heater

Hi, Does water heat up? If heat up might be indicator issue only. If water does not then might be wire connection issue.

Hi! What’s the additional wire inserted at 5:21 used for? Do you have info on 漏电保护器? I was informed on the freebie and need to use >6.0mm² wiring, hope you can advise me, thanks on advance!!

Hi, I paste the link on CNA water heater video about 7:30. Most of my point will be inside the video. th-cam.com/video/Bp3mc6ycNWw/w-d-xo.html
      1) I believe wire 2.5mm2 is enough as the video show those storage tank heater.
      2) For 漏电保护器 (RCCB), i think only need to press and see whether still have power send to the heater during trip.
      3) The additional wire was done up by the previous installer to prevent any electricity passing through the water pipe. So i just use it, better to be safer😀

@@diyyangSG I think I forgot to mention, I’m intending to get a water heater, and they advise me to get >6mmsq for water heater at 8500W. As for the additional wire, stool not sure how it works. I just got my new bto, and electrical wiring is 5 wires, 2 blue, 2 yellow/green, 1 brown,. Do I need to use all wires for water heater? ^^

@@kellwx Sorry bro, i dont have experience on that but if it is 8500W, I think your heater Mcb for your bto is B20 (20A rating) which i think is too small for your heater. So MCB will be a issue too.
With that power load I think is possible you need 6mm sq wire because is drawing quite a big power load.

I just check hdb website i think they only provide max load 40 amps for each house. services2.hdb.gov.sg/webapp/BN31AWERRCMobile/BN31SElectrical
Not sure is better to diy for this case. Scare later your unit keep tripping. But if possible share with me your experience after the whole thing interested to learn on this too.
