One thing I wish Black Ops 4 was able to have was a coherent story. The MP was really fun, but I was left with questions that couldn't be answered: who are the Black Ops and Mercs? Why are they fighting against each other? How does Project: Blackout and the Mason sisters tie into the conflict? If only Treyarch could explore that setting in the Black Ops universe again, great things could come of it, I'm positive. In Treyarch We Trust
In their defense a campaign has no replay value and having blackout offered wayyyyy more replay value. It showed that we don't need a campaign to have a good game
Bo4 has absolutely Incredible. I'm pushing 3500+ hours on it and I still play it regularly. It's the only cod game I've grinded after the life cycle was over. Blackout, the incredible operations, the zombies, even the little things like reactive camos, the aesthetic and art style. All of these things makes bo4 an absolute masterpiece of a cod. Blackout was the only battle royale I think I've truly enjoyed, with the creative mash up of maps from the past, zombies, and iconic weaponry. Bo4 was great, but unfortunately not many others see it that way so I don't think that we will be getting another cod like it.
What do you play it on? I upgraded from the ps4 to ps5 and it says black ops 4 is unplayable on ps5 makes me sad bc I love that game and have like 600 hours plus. I would love to go back and play. It’s weird cause I can play WW2, BO3, and MW remastered but not BO4 :(
I’m so happy one of my favorite TH-camrs shares the same sentiments I do for black ops 4. Absolutely GOATED game my friends and I had the times of our lives on here.
How Nero feels about BO4 is exactly how I feel about COD WW2. The HQ, the seasonal events, the crazy amount of different game modes, the abundance of things you could earn by just playing the game, playing it the whole year through and into the next games cycle, it was just incredible and absolutely brimming with content and things to do and work towards. And now, yeah, there's nothing to work towards but leveling up yourself and your weapons and getting camos. Whoopee. The only downside to COD WW2 was the small map selection if you didn't have DLC, but they'd occasionally have have gamemodes on a map from one of the DLCs for all to play, also that free summer event sandbox map that was super fun and unique - there were just so many gamemodes and things to unlock that I didn't care all too much though. Definitely a top 5 atleast for me.
Once the multiplayer revamp took place the game that was on the surface great became silky smooth in polish. I loved the feel of every gun, the war mode, the HQ, daily challenges from the thiccmaster and major Howard I think his name was, and the dlc guns were handled perfectly. Also had some of the best post-launch dlc I've seen in the dlc era of cod
That game is terrible. You’ll literally get kicked for being idle if decide to play with a riot shield which is the only way to play on certain war maps
WW2's maps were bad and the scorestreaks sucked and were unrewarding, I remember it being a super underwhelming for what was the super anticipated return to classic boots on the ground CoD. To this day, the only good boots on the ground CoD since the jetpack era is BO4 imo
I have 3000 hours on BO4 and in that time I can confidently say it’s that most fun I’ve ever had playing a call of duty, and I’ve been around for nearly all of them.
BO4 has to be my favorite cod multiplayer. The gun play feels great, the maps has solid layouts and lots of colors, and I actually like the specialists. Earning guns felt rewarding, and every gun felt unique and fun to use.
I think the 150 health thing was a bit misunderstood. Guns more or less had the same shots to kill as Black ops 2/3. the 150 health just allowed for more variance in tuning damage values for each weapon. It definitely didn't feel like the TTK was 50% slower than previous black ops games, only very slightly.
There’s 240 calling card challenges, mastery weapon challenges, 20 DMZ weapon cases to be picked up. now they added the seasonal events to be completed. How is there nothing to do in this game?
Y’all remember infected mode on blackout during a Halloween special? The waters were blood red, fog on some parts of the map. Definitely one of the most fun times I had on BO4
So glad someone else gets it. Black ops 4 was fantastic. No sbmm, balanced movement, classic prestige system, perfect gunplay, and solid maps. I miss it
You're just blinded with nostalgia when comparing post launch content. BO4 S1 got 2 new maps with Madagascar being very critisesed and Cold War for just 6v6 got 3 new maps all being good along with a new firetram map, 4 gunfight maps, a new scorestreak and a complete overhaul to the Warzone map
It's not top 3 overall, but I adore Blops 4 MP. It's probably my favorite post golden era CoD MP and I'm glad to see games like Shatterline and XDefiant innovate on its core MP ideas
I believe it is 4th under mw2 bo and bo2 , the battle Royale was super good. The multiplier had good balanced guns w good maps ranked was exciting it looked nice, the movement was the best in any cod it cured my adhd every time
I think BO4 was also the last game where the SBMM was lower, and you could still enjoy the game. Visually, it was awesome. You could see opponents. MW, everything looks the same.
There were quite a few issues with this game early in its lifecycle (like most CoDs) but over time they fixed a lot of things and gave players the ability to EARN everything. I always have to bring up that Treyarch kinda had to drop support of this game to save ColdWar and feel like we were robbed of a proper setup to or sendoff for the zombies "storyline".
The thing that sucks is even IF they make another CoD like Bo4... it's only going to be for one year. After the year is up, they'll make a new CoD that plays completely different...
I can’t even think of Warzone without reminiscing about Blackout. That game mode had only one bad thing going for it, that being it wasn’t free to play. The grind was fun, the gunplay, the movement, the skins, the maps, the events and the game modes. It had everything from the start and kept getting better with updates and I miss it. Treyarch poured their heart into blackout and it showed, meanwhile the only good thing I can say about Warzone is that it looks nice.
The Blackout map was gorgeous. Season changes (spring, summer, autumn, winter) were a nice touch. Then events like the blood river and the dam explosion with flooding was great.
Let's not forget terrain features, the grass, you can see ruts in the grass where people ran. The ability to swap attachments was great too. Had they had a way to bring people back, this game would have been perfect.
Some of the mechanics were clunky though, not being able to run through doors, and having to pick things up manually, but that's a crawl before walk thing in the development of the first Battle Royale style game in the franchise.
Same for me. I played multiplayer in older cods a decent amount but I was a zombies player. And I’ve always wanted a cod where I could heal myself in gunfight. That’s when I actually putting more hours in bo4
@@iammicrochip156 💯 agreed. Same with me I played multiplayer a little bit in the older cods but never got past 3/4th prestige aside from black ops 1 I was too busy on zombies.
Going off the supply drop topic, i think overwatch and apex are perfect examples of how supply drops made the game better, and if implemented correctly, cod can bring them back. Alternatively, they could just edit the trophy hunt event to be a permanent thing in the game, and you use trophies to buy all the items that would normally be in the supply drops
The last gqme with prestige, nornal scorestreaks, rolling lobbies, stuff to grind for other than camos Yeah this games pretty decent Edit: map voting also
When i think of bo4 i think of annoying specialists, annoying manual healing, and most importantly like no new post launch maps. You said there were 20 post launch maps but i’m pretty sure most of those were just variants arsenal sandstorm, jungle flooded or they made night versions of all the launch maps. For me this was the beginning of the end for cod and it was the first cod with a battle pass which imo is to blame for the basically non existent post launch support
Bo4 did some things well and by far did the battle pass better than any game since but this is a really low tier game for me. Bo3 did everything better, unless you didn’t like jet pack games
Bro, 100% agree. Everybody overlooks or dunks on BO4, but it was REALLY a solid game. If not for loot box mechanics I think it would be in everybody's top 3. Even the operators weren't nearly as bad as people say. Grav slam sucked, but was rare enough. Spectre was the only "OP" operator, but 95% of players sucked at using him. If I saw a great Spectre player I wouldn't even get mad at losing a killstreak, the good ones DOMINATED and it was cool to watch. Loved playing Crash, used him and Recon every single game.
Bo4 was just Bo3 but with the devs being less bold and playing it safer as they started to introduce core marketing system of what the future of cod has now currently become
I said this on many videos. This was hands-down the last fun COD. I actually go back and play it a couple times a year when the current Call of Duty is just really brutal to play and this was the last call of duty where the streaks were actually worth going for because how powerful they were. Running snipers nest, thresher, and strike team were always be so fun when you could rotate those streaks. The ONLY thing this COD missed was a Blackbird. If you ran a UAV, counter UAV, and a black bird. Just imagine how fun that would be when you're just rotating those streaks all game!
BO4 was super fun as hell when they added the no specialists playlist. My only gripe with the game was the combat axe cooldown. If you miss n' die, that's it.. You loose the combat axe and have to wait until the cooldown timer is done. Then you can use the combat axe again. You can't re-spawn with a new one. :(
I do hope that the call of duty community can have a great game again! There’s nothing like grinding a game for something that makes that achievements worth while!
Bo4 zombies kept me occupied almost everyday for like 4 years. There’s so much content and so much to do and learn. It really helped that bo4 had such a good base with all of the weapons being super unique and from each other and not having 97 pointless attachments that make your gun worse. Loved the complicated Easter eggs
It’s a decent game now but you have to look at it with the perception from 2018. 1) Predatory black-ops pass 2) unpopular changes to zombies/campaign 3) Most OP dlc guns to date BEFORE you could trade in crates for guns 4) Scorestreaks and specialists were spammy, annoying, or both (ie zero and spectre on launch, torque) 5) Most maps were average/bad or re-used and ruined (jungle flooded, arsenal sandstorm) 6) Blackout was fun, but an obvious unfinished mess with balancing issues on launch to hop on the BR trend 7) attachments were everything in this game, and made ttk’s so inconsistent 8) this game had an awful dlc, like tell me you remember the map Der Schatten So yes, it’s so much better and more stable now, but it neither fulfilled its purpose nor vision in MP or zombies
Fantastic video. I absolutely suck at BO4, so this (and BO3) felt very accessible at my skill level. I prestige mastered in zombies, and Blackout was awesome.
Great artsyle and graphics, easy to see enemies (thanks to their suit lights) that were still coherent with the environment, each weapon felt unique, each weapons' attachments were unique and gave some weapons an alternate use, fantastic gunplay, valued skill or getting the jump on foes, great progression, and blackout easily the best BR. My only real complaint with the MP was the overpowered AI scorestreaks that would snowball into even more OP ai scorestreaks, and the abilities that would increase health even more or grant shields. If those were out, and this game was crossplay, I would still be playing it.
Y’all gotta stop. Top 5 (in no order) WAW MW2 Black Ops MW3 Black Ops 2 Black Ops 4 doesn’t even hold the jockstrap of any of those games. It literally didn’t even have a campaign and it’s top 3?!? Like come on Nero. I get that you love Blackout but to negate everything else that has come before?? Also the whole specialist system and advanced movement killed the game because that wasn’t COD. Felt more like Overwatch. There’s a reason that they keep pulling and “remaking” content from the 5 games i mentioned prior. The zombies wasn’t all that great, and outside of that all you have is multiplayer and blackout. So if you don’t play zombies… you don’t play blackout… all you have is the multiplayer with the issues i just said. So a game with figuratively one mode is top 3?
Watching his gameplay is like watching a completely different game all I remember about bo4 is how sweaty and SBMM heavy the game was. Felt like every other match I was secretly playing overwatch.
I still play it rn and the lobbies still feel like they do during it’s lifecycle. I think it’s because of the overall resurgence in older cods lately and Microsoft tbh!! Have had so much fun playing it recently
I still play bo4 to this day. Always defended this game when it came out. Wasn't flawless, but was the last call of duty I seriously grinded on all 3 modes, and to this day its the last fun call of duty that didn't feel like a chore to play. This game was an absolute gem of a game. Its nice seeing people return to it and seeing it age like wine amongst people who may have written it off initially. Awesome video Nero 👊👍
@@Dyenosaur00 super good gun. Once they brought nuketown 24/7 for year two I would drop snipers nest, thresher, gunships on people with usually the kn or the icr
The maps combined with fog of war is what made Bo4 so good to me. You could always flank around people and it felt strategic running around the maps. Nowadays once the enemy holds a point you have to kill them while they’re headglitched or hidden and have rarely other choices
Completely agreed. The core gameplay of MP and Blackout was very well designed. It just wasn’t able to reach its full potential because of behind the scenes issues like Treyarch taking over Cold War
It's been a weird era. Hoping treyarchs next cod comes out solid. Cold war was fun but it def felt half baked and was buggy/lacking content at launch. Would really like to see a full strength treyarch game again.
This game was a lovesong for me. Mastercrafts were amazing, old prestige system, boots on the ground and semi futuristic gameplay with a comp feel to it. I miss BO4.
BO4 is my favourite multiplayer game for COD. It was the only one I have ever enjoyed enough to get all the challenges, camps, and prestige master. I am glad to see some love for the game. BO6 multiplayer is wild, I can't even play with friends because they can't have fun when I am in the lobby... I
Never had more fun playing COD than i did with BO4. Modern Warfare 2 arguably is a better game and I probably would've had more fun with it if I had access to the same amount of drugs. But yeah Black Ops 4 is the most perfect reiteration of the Black Ops franchise. Something about Black Ops 1 was so bland by comparison, despite the iconic maps and well balanced guns. And Black Ops 2 and 3 retrospectively feel inferior, as Black Ops 4 improved on all aspects of those games. In general the maps and gunplay were excellent. Aesthetics were beautiful. The TTK was well balanced. Loved how assists counted as eliminations. Nothing was that OP, specialists added to the gameplay. Just loved sniping and bunkering down. Gud stuff
game came out during prime Fortnite which is why I think a lot of people (including myself) didn't and don't appreciate the game as much as we wouldve had it come out sooner or later than 2018

Amazing vid! Thanks for sharing all your thoughts on BO4, I didn't get to play it so I enjoyed this video a lot! 👍
You made me want to redownload and play this again.
The only specialist that was annoying was the shock stick on wheels, I forget what it's called but that was the bane of my existence on BO4
The last gqme with prestige, nornal scorestreaks, rolling lobbies, stuff to grind for other than camos
Yeah this games pretty decent
Edit: map voting also
Man the nostalgia i had in middle school playing constant hours on a friday night playing black out was the best.
This and bo3 were my favorite Cods
Bo4 was just Bo3 but with the devs being less bold and playing it safer as they started to introduce core marketing system of what the future of cod has now currently become
Couldn’t agree more. The last playable cod and the last Call of Duty I played everyday. I miss this game all the time.
I always used ballistic knife with dual tomahawks. Definately hated the tomahawk cooldown. Made me appreciate cold war tomahawks a lot more
Not in my top 3 but definitely one of the better cods. In a time when i thought cod was bad, this was the last great cod.
I loved this game. It was the last time COD felt like COD.
Black ops 4 competitive scene was great as well. Remember Dashy getting the tempest going crazy not to mention the Faze tiny terrors going crazy.
BO4 comp was one of the best szns without a doubt
It’s a decent game now but you have to look at it with the perception from 2018.
1) Predatory black-ops pass
2) unpopular changes to zombies/campaign
3) Most OP dlc guns to date BEFORE you could trade in crates for guns
4) Scorestreaks and specialists were spammy, annoying, or both (ie zero and spectre on launch, torque)
5) Most maps were average/bad or re-used and ruined (jungle flooded, arsenal sandstorm)
6) Blackout was fun, but an obvious unfinished mess with balancing issues on launch to hop on the BR trend
7) attachments were everything in this game, and made ttk’s so inconsistent
8) this game had an awful dlc, like tell me you remember the map Der Schatten
So yes, it’s so much better and more stable now, but it neither fulfilled its purpose nor vision in MP or zombies
Still better than mw2019 and mw2 2022😂
It's basically a sequel to bo2
Y’all gotta stop. Top 5 (in no order)
WAW
MW2
Black Ops
MW3
Black Ops 2
Black Ops 4 doesn’t even hold the jockstrap of any of those games.
I’ve been saying this for years. I’m glad you’re spittin facts.
Great video, we need this for every cod
I still play bo4 to this day. Always defended this game when it came out. Wasn't flawless, but was the last call of duty I seriously grinded on all 3 modes, and to this day its the last fun call of duty that didn't feel like a chore to play. This game was an absolute gem of a game. Its nice seeing people return to it and seeing it age like wine amongst people who may have written it off initially. Awesome video Nero 👊👍
You replied 6 mins ago when video released 9 mins ago. You didn’t watch full video 😉😉😉 but yes I still play such a good and underrated game 🙌🙌🙌
Used to destroy people with the spitfire because most people couldn't get the spray pattern down.
Top 3 Cod of all time is wild, but it was a good game. I appreciate the perspective.
I miss this game bro, we didn't know how good we had it
Beautiful video. BO4 is my go-to COD these days. Still grinding and still playing blackout in 2023.
What system are you playing and how’s the population?
One of the best Cods game of all time. Had over 30+ days in MP only
Black Ops 4 zombies and blackout were some of the greatest entries
This game was a lovesong for me. Mastercrafts were amazing, old prestige system, boots on the ground and semi futuristic gameplay with a comp feel to it. I miss BO4.
BO4 is my favourite multiplayer game for COD. It was the only one I have ever enjoyed enough to get all the challenges, camps, and prestige master. I am glad to see some love for the game. BO6 multiplayer is wild, I can't even play with friends because they can't have fun when I am in the lobby... I
Great video men! Bo4 zombies is my favorite of all time
The shotgun with the flashlight was so OP. I miss this game
Breaks my heart how i only played it for 2 years. It deserved more from me
Off topic but anyone remember the chicken audio clip that would play when you clicked cancel when entering prestige in MW2?
