1940s YANMAR Diesel Type SS10 12hp [Old Engines in Japan]

This is the YANMAR Diesel Type SS10 overwhelming beholders. It stops after a start in a few minutes, perhaps influenced by winter cold. But I impressed by the situation that big flywheel rotating quietly. The next engine is the same type YANMAR which was made in pre World War II.

This Engine is not my thing. I observed this engine at 2015 Asaka engine show.
見る者を圧倒する、巨大なディーゼル単気筒の発動機です。春の花冷えがその身に堪えるのか、始動後しばらくして一旦停止してしまいますが、巨大なフライホイールが静かに回る様子は圧巻の一言でした。当時の使われ方は、工場などで揚水ポンプ等を動かす仕事でしょうか。隣の同じような形をした発動機は、戦前製の同タイプのヤンマーヂーゼル機関です。
