Ha! I just got a beautiful used 80mm a couple weeks ago and I've been putting it through it's paces too! Unbelievably sharp, but I definitely noticed all the little short comings you did (focus hunting in dim lighting, slow focus when set to full range, ect). Plus I'm not a macro shooter, but I'm learning. Great video Tongue, I like how casual and relaxed you are, and I appreciate how you give your personal opinions and not just read off the spec sheet. I'm looking forward to more of your videos Tongue!

Macro is great, and very addictive as you mentioned. Once you have peaked behind the curtain it motivates you to go off and start finding all kinds of weird and wonderful insects. Most high quality macro lenses are quite heavy as they have quality glass inside them. In regards to the autofocusing most macro'ers use manual focus anyway so auto focus is a bit of a dream with the distances you normally operate at. Thankfully with the focus peaking and other capabilities available on the XT-4 etc you really are well catered for doing your own accurate focusing. :)

I wanted to get this lens but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend $800+ for only one type of genre of shoot but you answered that its versatile so im getting it! 😅

it was fastest focusing when it came out, but since then fuji has released all the little f2 lenses and some red badge lenses which are all faster to focus as well as new bodies which tweak focusing speeds across the board when considered.
So it sounds like this lens also enhances human compassion..

My favorite fujifilm lens. Quick tip, for macro use it on manual focus and rock forward and back if needed.

Beauty photography and Fujfiilm has never been mentioned in the same sentence before 🤯🤯🤯 but honestly the 80mm f2.8 would be great for what you do.
