    3:03 - just a little correction: the engines are "TV3-117", not "TVZ-117". It's a common problem, because 3 and russian letter "Z" (Зз) are basically the same.
    Also fun fact: the Mi-24A cocpit nickname is "a glass" =)

    Nice short informative video! Thank you for that! I have been interested and intrigued by the Mi-24A ever since I saw it in the video game Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater when I was a young teenager in 2007. I agree with you regarding the rarity of pictures, videos and additional information regarding the A model compared to Hind-D and other later variants, probably because it was produced in such small numbers compared to other variants. Subscribed to your channel, keep up the good work and cover more lesser known cold military equipments and vehicles.

      That is what I'm planning on doing. I want to teach people about rare and forgotten military vehicles. And thank you so very much for subscribing!

    I've always been curious as to why they went with the tandem seating over the side by side. They went back to it with the KA-52

    Fun fact with the Hind A in VPA:
    -With the shortage of Soviet rokets S-5, the army modified the Hind to put on Hydra 70 rockets with the enormous supply after the collapse of South VietNam.

    I've been waiting for a video like yours, I've looked for a video like this every now and then in a course of 2 years now and I never got anything solid. You did a very good job here.
    Your video just might also have academic value, I believe I'll make use of some of it in one of my academic articles for Military Science grad.

    I always thought the Hind being able to carry troops was mandated by the army, not the way Mil originally wanted it to be. Such an interesting and iconic piece of military hardware, by far my favourite aircraft of all time.

    Really love the look of the "A" model. The helicopters in the movie Red Dawn were modeled after the "A" model, by moching up three French made Super Pumas. Also the movies, "Bulletproof" with Gary Busey, "Missing in Action III" with Chuck Norris, and "Red Scorpion" with Dolph Ludgrin.

    I've allways loved this model of hind. Since I saw red dawn for the first time! When it came out.
    And yes I know they were not real hinds in red dawn. They were modified sa330 pumas.

    Wasn't the MI-24A used quite a lot by the Vietnamese?

    • @UnkHistory
      @UnkHistory  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That is correct and another little fact is that the Vietnamese used them during the Cambodian-Vietnamese war in around 1978.

      @@UnkHistory I've been trying to find any sort of footage or atleast reports/stories about how it was used and how well it performed in that conflict but so far I've been unable to find anything unfortunately..

      @@GREECE5858 Sorry but in that moment, we didn't have any tools to record images but my grandpa who flied the Hind said it performed very well as a
      reconnaissance and Ground support vehicle.
