That soundtrack that starts at 0:49 is what brings the greatness of this scene altogether... Yu Yu Hakusho had such a great, atmospheric soundtrack. Each of the scores always play at the right time. Long live 90's anime greatness
Yu Yu Hakusho is easily my favorite long running shonen anime. It might be pretty high up there as my favorite in general. Hard to say, but I really recommend anyone watch it. The English script and voice acting is excellent.
Aey man to that. I just wish the quality would have been more consistent with the more recent anime nowadays. But other than that, Im glad I was able to go back and rewatch the whole series--from start to finish-- after not having watched it in 16+ years. It's one of those classics that will stay with us for a lifetime.
back when anime dubs weren't stupid they actually tried on making something original good not being lazy now they just copy the Japanese which makes no sense we are in America their culture customs phrases dialect don't make sense in English I want to watch an American dub not the same show if I wanted Japanese I will watch it subbed dbz failed for a while in the 90's until funimation made it big why because it was a more modern script it changed from the original and got better it wouldn't have become as popular in America without it if kai was the first dub back in 1998 it would have failed like the dubs before it theirs a reason it succeeded finally it was cause funimation tried and their product made it great
Kuwabara went over all there experiences together, re-experienced all their battles in his head, hit an emotional peak, and finally dug deep to reach a whole new level of strength... And it amount to absolutely NOTHING!
i know this is an older comment but had he not cut that barrier yusuke could not have chased sensui to demon world after he revived. still wish he got a blow in on sensui though
@lct23 Nah. The conflict was in stopping sensu from breaking the barrier. He only traveled through it to use himself as bait so kuwabara would open it. If Kuwabara didn't already have the dimensional sword working then sensu would've taken a different approach, probably torture, until Yusuke rose. That said, Yusuke would've likely lost without raisen taking control of him, so it all worked out in the end.
robert carfang well....he cared about Yusuke himself but he killed Genkai, and it had nothing to do with Yusuke, he "killed" Kuwabara to bring out Yusuke's potential that was being blocked by a wall of suppressed emotion, by Genkai's suggestion. But in the end, in his own way, he does care for Yusuke. He only ever wanted was to be killed by his hand at 100% of his power lol
If I remember correctly, this scene didn't happen in the manga; in the manga, Kuwabara literally, instantaneously, and out of nowhere summons the jigen to/dimension sword and then cuts through the dimension that he, Hiei, Kurama, and Itsuki are in. This is still my favorite scene in my favorite anime, and I wouldn't have changed a thing.
@@TheKyrix82 the manga has some pretty important extra lore, as well as nice extra scenes in arcs such as the spirit detective saga, not to mention some godlike art, so i wouldnt call it inferior by any means. id rate them equal in getting the full picture of the story that is yu yu hakusho.
One of the worst sins in a great show like Yu Yu Hakusho was not have Kuwabara defeat Sensui. He was pratically the hidden protagonist of the arc, built up for this exact scene, then they threw it away for more Yusuke Time and the Raizen BS. It would've also totally made up for Kuwabara's absence in the final saga.
sikisikiamimis sensui would have died in one hit. He tanked everything. Everything from Yoko and dragon hiei but he doged every single attack from kuwa. Cause one hit could kill sensui. Kuwa’s dimension sword is on a whole new tier of op. It’s why he was left out of the demon world tourney (not cause he was human)
@@caveman7854 The dimenonsial sword is capable of destroying the demon world itself they just needed a excuse not to include him because they knew his power would destroy anyone and anything
The demon world tournament arc might be kinda weak, but it helps to explain Yusuke and bring the power creep to and end. But the reasoning is plain, simple, and the truth. Kuwabara going the the Demon world would have ended up ruining his life. The only reason he went through so much character growth is his normal life in the Human world. He started with a misunderstood attitude, which gradually began to grow into his bond with Yusuke. And together they ended up norming and forming their team. But Demon world is full of shit that God/King Yemma can't even handle. It's far beyond a normal human, and the end of Sensui's fight showed it clear as day. The best Spirit world can do is simply lock them in their own world and kill the strangler weaklings that make it through the barrier by employing "spirit detectives". Over all his fights, Kuwabara managed to reform himself into a more responsible man. There's simply no place for him in Demon world as he has other concerns that are far more important to his character. He gave himself the chance to succeed in a normal human life and not be one of those fuck ups who can't even get into a decent school. Granted, that's Japanese logic, but ignoring his real life for years would have undone everything good he managed to accomplish. At the same time, there had to be some explanation of Yusuke's latent abilities. Being imbued with an ancestral demon heritage is probably the only way they could have ended it. It went from Yusuke "dying unexpectedly", realizing his worth and being brought back to life, straight to his new job hunting down weak demons that he was in no way prepared to fight, to him going to Genkai for training, then going to rescue Yukina, being pulled further into the demon arena by being forced to enter the tournament, going back to some weird ass normal human psychic outbreak after the Halloween house awkwardness, then finally to Sensui who was pretty much the pinnacle of human potential. If there was going to be any explanation as to why he was going surpass Sensui, it has always been leaning toward the demon world since the beginning. Especially since dealing with Kurama who was in a similar situation as Yuske was. I feel like if they didn't end things with Yusuke finally bringing his take on reality to demon world, returning to whence his original ancestral powers came from as part human and demon, then finally making his own unique brand of energy brought about by his Hybrid human/demon ancestry, they never would have been able to come full circle as a character. They needed to go to the demon world in some way in order to bring things to some sort of amicable conclusion.
This was by far the most intense scene in the show! Kuwabara is a champ! And I don't give a DAMN about dub haters, they can just suck it cuz they're precious show isn't just Japanese. If only that sword killed itsuki and Sensui at the same time. Such an emotional part, I'm always on the edge of my seat when it happens.
Thank you for uploading this. This was definitely one of the most powerful scenes in a series full of them. Heartbreak and frustration resonates throughout this entire performance. Aside from his phenomenal voice acting in this scene, one of the special things Sabat did was have Kuwabara cuss. Although Kuwabara cussed a little early on in the series, up to this point, he hadn't cussed for several several episodes and he doesn't cuss again for the rest of the series. Having him cuss here added something special. Another related scene with excellent voice acting by Christopher Sabat is when goes to check Yurameshi's heartbeat and doesn't hear it. Wow. Just wow. Years later and it still hits hard. _"There's nothing wrong with two guys needing each other."_ - Kuwabara
The really serious and dramatic scenes we really well done for the english dub. You really feel the desperation in Christopher Sabat voice. Same with Justin Cook he gave me chills during the spirit wave orb test.
Yes OMG during the trials I felt like I was in the pain of the trial. The sub doesn't do it justice at all. Not even close. & Kawabara rn sounds so great & emotional
In the scene just before this. He begs Yusuke to give him more time to unlock his power. He runs to the eye whole and trips as he begs and it sounds so perfect its like it was happening in real life. its heart wrenching
"a mulberry is a tree, and kuwabara is a man" best quote and no doubt some time and effort was put into research when doing this dub. best english dub of any anime ever. i swear to god. it captures that perfect late 80's late 90's feel. you know when we talked to each other face to face and not behind some screens? good times good times.
Both Justin Cook and Chris Sabat are literal god-tier voices for this anime. Everything about this show is, from the (best damn) dialogue to the story, the action, the badassness and spook-level... easily brings me back to rewatching it time and time again. And I have a very hard time not liking Kuwabara the most, even though every other character is so great and has so much depth.
Believe me or not, my friend drew a picture for Christopher and now he's going to voice act one of his skits. I heard his lines just today. It was awesome
This is exactly why Kuawabara deserved an early retirement. The demons needed to tie up their loose ends, but even right here, and right now, Kuwabara knew exactly who he was. A lot of people missed him in the final season, as did I, but there’s nothing more to be said for his character. He seems goofy, but he was quite mature.
Yes! Each of the MCs in YYH could have their own spinoff. Seeing Kuwabara’s flashback family moments and things he did during the 3 year skip would be great. Also how he managed to reach Lower S Class by the end without any formal training or major threats
you know when i was younger i didnt like kuwabara , but re watching this as an adult my point of view has changed so much of him, he's the kind of man you want to marry
Weird how by the end, Kuwabara is actually probably ranked the strongest human in the world after Yusuke became a demon. His space cutting sword is no joke either. It’s the only attack Sensui actively avoids while he just face tanks everyone else’s attacks. If Kuwabara had godlike speed, even Yusuke wouldn’t want to fight him.
This would have been one of the greatest series if they just put more finality into death. Like if they said "The sacred energy isn't used because it destroys the victim's soul". I mean the death scene was done so well and yet the very next episode ruins it. Maybe they should have had Yusuke come back the next arc or something.
actually its 2 episodes after. Which ruins it a bit, but this is probably the best death scene in an anime ever, at least for me. Only time i have cried in an anime is when Kuwabara is in denial of his death before checking his heartbeat. Damn that scene just kills me
Fun fact in an interview Togashi said one (of several) of the reasons that he ended YYH the way he did is because the Editor's wouldn't let him kill off any of the main characters.
I'm so glad to say YYH was my childhood manga and show instead of DBZ or Naruto. The emphasis on well written characters and development without being too extreme or edgy makes moments like these shine. YYH wasn't about intense fights or becoming the most powerful: it was about growing up. Justin Cook did a damn good job with writing the dialogue for the English dub, I don't think my childhood would've been same if it wasn't him behind it. This moment as well as the manga and anime will forever hold an important place in my life.
I actually met a girl at an anime convention who thought Kuwabara was nothing but an idiot. I don't normally argue with complete strangers about an anime that hasn't aired in years but man I had to that time lol
Its 2024 and im still looking up videos of yu yu Hakusho, its voice actors, their new shows and im sure ill be looking them up for many years to come if im so given the chance.
on top of his sounding like a rougher version of Yamcha i could have fucking sworn he said "King Kai" at 1:02 and by extention expected his to say "SPIRIT BALL" next

Yu Yu Hakusho is easily my favorite long running shonen anime. It might be pretty high up there as my favorite in general. Hard to say, but I really recommend anyone watch it. The English script and voice acting is excellent.
Gakuto same. I actually adore the dub. One of the best dubbed animes ever.
Aey man to that. I just wish the quality would have been more consistent with the more recent anime nowadays. But other than that, Im glad I was able to go back and rewatch the whole series--from start to finish-- after not having watched it in 16+ years. It's one of those classics that will stay with us for a lifetime.
I heard Yamcha 0:10
Ox King 0:47
Vegeta 1:40
Jeice 2:08
Chris Sabat is a legend !!!
checkmyvinyl Kyle Hebert does Ox King, fyi.
Yes, but Chris did Ox King back in the days. For you're information! ;)
...-_- ugh. That hurt. I thought I knew all!
Have a senzu..
0:40 too, it sounds like Vegeta
Remember back then when an anime could swear without being put off the channel.
back when anime dubs weren't stupid they actually tried on making something original good not being lazy now they just copy the Japanese which makes no sense we are in America their culture customs phrases dialect don't make sense in English I want to watch an American dub not the same show if I wanted Japanese I will watch it subbed dbz failed for a while in the 90's until funimation made it big why because it was a more modern script it changed from the original and got better it wouldn't have become as popular in America without it if kai was the first dub back in 1998 it would have failed like the dubs before it theirs a reason it succeeded finally it was cause funimation tried and their product made it great
razkable try telling that to every 4kids haters
lol rice balls switched to sandwiches makes sense but noooo weeaboo life is where it's at
Pavel gill You just can't call us weebos for wanting rice cakes instead of a fucking sandwich in One Piece.
+razkable exactly honorifics are annoying in dubs.
Khalid Ali ummmm toonami?
This is the best scene in the show
Kuwabara is such a GOAT, and without Christopher Sabat it wouldn't be that way. 10/10 Voice acting here.
Kuwabara is awesome and pretty badass in his own right. That being said, I can't help but laugh like a maniac when he laughs.
+Just Some Guy with a Mustache Everyone calls Hiei a badass. Bullshit. Kuwabara all the way.
+Rob George they both are
totaldramafan108 I'm fine with that.
Kuwabara went over all there experiences together, re-experienced all their battles in his head, hit an emotional peak, and finally dug deep to reach a whole new level of strength... And it amount to absolutely NOTHING!
kyle cyrus yup. Completely heartbreaking. God. And the music.
i know this is an older comment but had he not cut that barrier yusuke could not have chased sensui to demon world after he revived. still wish he got a blow in on sensui though
Sensui's Personalities and the Toguro brothers disliked this video!
lol
robert carfang except younger yoguro 😂 he actually cared for yusuke like a son XD
Toguro * sorry.
Susana Canales So he killed Yusuke's only teacher he liked and "killed" Yusuke's best friend Kuwabara out of love? LOL!
robert carfang well....he cared about Yusuke himself but he killed Genkai, and it had nothing to do with Yusuke, he "killed" Kuwabara to bring out Yusuke's potential that was being blocked by a wall of suppressed emotion, by Genkai's suggestion.
Everything I hear makes me think the Manga is vastly inferior to the anime
@@TheKyrix82 it is in basically everything except the ending
@@TheKyrix82 the manga has some pretty important extra lore, as well as nice extra scenes in arcs such as the spirit detective saga, not to mention some godlike art, so i wouldnt call it inferior by any means. id rate them equal in getting the full picture of the story that is yu yu hakusho.
@juniorSM_ yea def Im glad kurama is a s class and enters the second makai tournament with the rest of the team
Well, it almost seems like not all anime is inferior to their respective manga. How surprising. As a weeb who sits home all day, I'm offended.
Kuwabara is that friend you never know how badly you need till shit hits the fan
Just an absolute tearjerker when he's crying and trying to force that sword out and yelling "Come on!! COME ON!!!"
I FREAKING LOVE THIS ONE OF KUWABARA'S MOST AWSOME SCENES
Neritza Velez kuwabara's best scene
@@caveman7854 The dimenonsial sword is capable of destroying the demon world itself
they just needed a excuse not to include him because they knew his power would destroy anyone and anything
Sensui constantly treated it like it could kill him
Kuwabara has one of the most unique voices in any anime. I love it
The ost and his Voice Acting make this one of the best scenes in an anime of all time.
This guy voiced Jigen in the Lupin movies, Major Armstrong on Full Metal Alchemist. He is the most amazing voice actor (Aside from a few others).
Plus Vegeta and Piccolo
The voice with the ost goes so perfect. Wow this anime was ahead of its time man.
This scene made me cry. I watched this scene over and over on DVD. Never thought I would be so moved by an anime but this taught me otherwise.
It's cool how they gave Kuwabara much needed buff this arc
This scene alone has convinced me to watch Yu Yu Hakusho
did you do it?
"What the hell could be the reason for this" gets me every time :')
this scene was so depressing when I first saw it....
God Dammit Kuwabara, getting my feelings all caught up in a twist :'(
He didn't just magically got those powers he earned them despite the hopelessness.
"a mulberry is a tree, and kuwabara is a man"
best quote and no doubt some time and effort was put into research when doing this dub. best english dub of any anime ever. i swear to god.
it captures that perfect late 80's late 90's feel. you know when we talked to each other face to face and not behind some screens? good times good times.
And they say that women are more emotional than men. Look at how emotional Christopher Sabat (voice) and Kuwabara are here!
0:22 Kuwabara sumed up action anime cliche 101. I feel like that's a Deadpool level wall-break, just less funny due to the circumstances.
hes legit speaking for audience members..hes like wait why aren't I getting stronger?..cause its not realistic until his heart truly snaps
Yusuke and hiei are the force of the team…Kurama and Kuwabara are the heart of the team 💯💯💯
Still watching in 2021 this show will never get old no matter how many times I watch
This scene made me tear up
Do we really need to list the reasons Chris Sabat is amazing? I mean, it's just so obvious.
As much as I love Dragon Ball Z it never got my emotions running high like Yu Yu Hakusho.
Epic shit
Chris Sabat literally came into a restaurant I worked at today what a legend
Believe me or not, my friend drew a picture for Christopher and now he's going to voice act one of his skits. I heard his lines just today. It was awesome
Angel Morris. I know im a year late 😁 but you think you could tell me how i can see this skit?:)
Without a doubt this is my favorite scene, brings a tear down from my eye
This is exactly why Kuawabara deserved an early retirement. The demons needed to tie up their loose ends, but even right here, and right now, Kuwabara knew exactly who he was. A lot of people missed him in the final season, as did I, but there’s nothing more to be said for his character. He seems goofy, but he was quite mature.
Kuwabara is the most quotable character in anime. He has so many good lines and speeches.
i love yu yu hakasho the last saga i cried because this was my child hood and i love chris r sabat and i still do as a voice actor
Damn this hit me right in the feels
Most emotional scene in yu yu hakusho
Man Yuyu-Hakusho really makes you wanna reach into the depths of your inner strength.
This is how the funny/"silly" main character should be written in anime
Yes! Each of the MCs in YYH could have their own spinoff. Seeing Kuwabara’s flashback family moments and things he did during the 3 year skip would be great. Also how he managed to reach Lower S Class by the end without any formal training or major threats
A bully turned friend will be friend until the end 💯
Missed the best part of the episode when he starts sobbing. That was real emotional!
Sabat gave an award-winning performance throughout the entire episode.
+Joseph Kerr More like the entire series but yes this one hands down
this scene is amazing...right there with kuwabara dying from toguro and yusukes fight with yomi...LOVE IT!!!!
My favorite thing is Sensui DODGES Kuwabara's sword!
He'll tank hits from Hiei's Dragon and Kurama, but he gets the f*** out of the way of Kuwabara!
This is still my favorite part of the series just the sheer emotion of it all.
You're damn right about that. I loved his voices as Vegita, Yamcha, and Piccolo on Dragon Ball Z, and of course, Kuwabara in Yuu Yuu Hakusho.
I'm pretty sure he's also all might in mha
Kuwabara is the best boy and the greatest developed supporting character ever because he went from hating Yusuke to looking out for him.
A mulberry is a bush, Kawabara is the Man!
Best acting you will ever witness
I know every word kuwabara is about to say and I still tear up...
same brother
Tell me describe about phrases of kuwabara
you know when i was younger i didnt like kuwabara , but re watching this as an adult my point of view has changed so much of him, he's the kind of man you want to marry
I bet Chris had a blast with this.
Man I start crying 10 seconds into the freaking video
Favorite kuwabara line:
He's going to kick your ass like a regular named guy in a wrestling match!"
Yusuke Vs Yomi! Yes!
I rewatched this the other night and I was still teary eyed, the emotions felt so real
2:34-3:00
when you reveal the D & she realized she bragged alot more than she can take xD
+Dale Gribble you are addicted to pornography
When your voice turns into Vegeta.
Kuwabara: This hand of mine glows with an awesome power!
"Well this joke got feelings." Perfectly said to fit the amount of reverence that line deserves.
Damn that scene just kills me
Jack The Ripper ugh. Same. This scene and when he checks his heartbeat. Can't not cry at this scene
Its definitely a hard scene. You just feel the emotion as he tries so desperately to believe Yusuke is faking it.
who said it desoty the vitms soul no it don't yusukeu boso she could take senui to sprit world he cant do that fo soul wad deoryyed now can he noop
Fun fact in an interview Togashi said one (of several) of the reasons that he ended YYH the way he did is because the Editor's wouldn't let him kill off any of the main characters.
I met Christopher Sabat at comicpalooza in 2021 and he is a cool guy.
Watch the first ten seconds with your eyes closed. x'P
😂😂😂😂😂😂 that is the funniest shit that's happened to me in a long time.
LMAO good one
How the hell do you watch something with your eyes closed?
you need your eyes open to watch something. Closing them means you're just watching black!
😅😅😅
God I love the music from this scene.
Ah man it cut off just as soon as the heart wrenching part started
Absolutely Amazing MASTER PIECE !
on top of his sounding like a rougher version of Yamcha i could have fucking sworn he said "King Kai" at 1:02 and by extention expected his to say "SPIRIT BALL" next
What is the sound track that plays at the beginning???
