Excellent video. Smart using hand screwdriver to remove/replace Phillips screws on the trim. Using a power drill or impact is risky unless you are super experienced . Big risk of over tightening and cracking plastic.. Also, Id put a towel or something soft down on the bench while the trim is being worked on.
Great video! Im considering this and possible the dasaita g12 i believe. Does this headunit still retain the functions of the screen in the dash with the speedometer like the pitch and roll functions, miles till empty tank, etc?
Does anyone know what voltage the original rear camera of the 2019 tacoma works with? I also need to know the function by cable colors for it’s original harness. Thank you
Great video thank you so much !! One question for you : Do we really need the 64GB? Or the 32GB could do the trick? What I need is on my cellphone so I don't see why we would need a lot of space?
👋Hello, was the factory radio that you took out of the car JBL or non-JBL? ....I would like to buy it but I have seen many radios for sale that ask if it is JBL or Non JBL, because I would need a harness!?
Hey Ariel this unit was non jbl however you shouldn’t need any additional harnesses, the additional harnesses offered are only if you want to have wired CarPlay or if you have the 360 camera option other than that everything should be plug and play
This is a great video. Im curious to know how well this unit works in terms of responsiveness, running google maps and other apps etc. I had an ATOTO A6 android headunit in an older vehicle of mine and while it worked fine running a music app like Spotify it would lag severely when running a navigation app. I couldnt run Android Auto on it since my phone didnt support that and still doesnt, so I'm more curious how well it performs running those features on its own without my phone. I'd appreciate a small review from you or video trying these out, I love the look of this unit and this video looks perfect for me to reference if I were to get it.
I have TH-cam premium so I used it for music and was able to hear the music in the background while running google maps and it worked without issue the only other app I would use is Amazon music and that worked fine also
I don’t know if you mentioned this or not, but do you need to download an app to use the Apple CarPlay wirelessly? Or does it just connect to the head unit via Bluetooth. Definitely looking forward to the follow up review as well.
@@josephj1234567 I have a dedicated hotspot connected to it and tbh I hardly ever use CarPlay I almost always watch yt videos now and if service is good the quality is great if not I’ll download the video and watch is in hd as far as the unit itself the picture quality is very good
Great video. I have a newbie question, I have the stock head unit but had an amp installed by a local shop. Would that change things as far as the plug and play install? I am assuming that they added some wiring, just don't know if that matters when installing this unit. Thanks again.
Hello Ray the head unit will still install plug and play and the amp probably has a line out converter installed on your current set up that you will no longer need because there is a built in sub connections on the new unit
absolutely, but you have 2 options to choose from 2-32GB and 4-64GB i think it is way more than enough, i have a 1TB HD connected on my 4Runner and work! or connect an USB and use VLC
Hey mike you will lose the ability to change some of those features but whatever configuration you have selected will stay in place and in a sense “locked” once you disconnect the oem unit
My 2019 is an sr with the small minimalist headunit. Would it just fit right in or would I need the dash adapter you used here? Really not wanting to bite the 1100 -1300 for the alpine halo😩
It comes with the new dash piece, the new screen is actually pre mounted to the new piece itself I don’t think it matters which screen you currently have
@@jojo912 well dang! That seems pretty simple. Thank you for the speedy reply brother! Final question do all of your steering wheel controls work as they did factory?
It does have better sound, I had already replaced my stock speakers before I did the head unit but it sounded much better after replacing the factory unit
I don’t believe there is a harness to add the factory xm but you can get the Sirius xm app and listen thru the app but you will need an internet connection

How big is the screen? I can’t find the spec anywhere

You can ask here or join the CTH Tacoma android head unit group on FB

It takes about 30 seconds to a minute on say an overnight start but if you haven’t been away for along time it connects pretty quick

Quick question for you- does this work with the meso replacement vent rings and the TPAM from expedition essentials? Thank You!
The vent rings should work but I can’t confirm the tpam
Does this unit have video playback feature? For example TH-cam, Netflix,
