My favorite Rush album. It was the first song of the second side of my tape back in 1984. I say it was Neil's most creative period. He toured with $40,000 worth of equipment 40 years ago. This is a beautiful tribute.
Wow, thanks for sharing, I’ve always wondered how Neil kept the cymbals going and still did all of those fills towards the end of the song, it almost sounded overdubbed but I knew that the professor never did that. He sounded like an octopus with extra arms playing those parts and now I see that you have to break away quickly from the right hand cymbal work to do the fills and then get right back on it without missing a beat so that it sounds seamless. Neil was the best ever drummer in all of rock as far as I’m concerned and may he Rest In Peace. Thanks for showing this complicated piece.
Thank you so much for posting these videos. I remember listening to these albums in high school, the songs flow together so perfectly when listening beginning to end. It is such a pleasure revisiting. Your talent is much appreciated.
Wicked cover. And I can honestly say that the little fill at 4:26 (Tom, snare roll, open hi-hit, tom, snare roll, crash) is a top 10 NP fill for me. I just love it. Great to see it played so well!!!
This is one of the handful of songs that I can remember exactly where i was when i heard it for the first time. (Spenser's, Tyson's Corner mall VA, 1984) This is an awesome, amazing, wonderful cover. Thank you for putting this "out there". I enjoyed it immensely.
That is very good. Really nice set up of left right drums to get that call/answer effect that defines the song. Love the drum intro because you place bass, you can't wait to bust out that opening. Lots of musical tension/anticipation that make it a lot of fun to play on bass.
Very fine cover! Well done. What we all (myself included) must recognize is that as difficult as it is to cover a Neil Peart composition. We are doing just that. Covering. He actually created what we struggle and strive to recreate. At some point we have to accept the fact that we are only human. I don’t know what Neil is, but it ain’t human! Lol. BTW Check out Carter Beauford... same thing.
He replays all of the songs--
Forty-some years of routines
We try to find something wrong
but the drummer is like a machine...

RUSH should go back on tour with this dude! Perfection!!!!
You are near perfect.
Watching you do all these song made me realize how even more of a boss Peart is.
One thing about NEP, his fills were never the same throughout the song, and they were all perfectly fit for the song.
That was spot on!! I love that song!! Neil would be very proud
Ha nice. People don’t realize there’s other songs to play other than Tom Sawyer , love this one nice job
Right in the pocket.. So solid.. thanks for sharing.

Absolute perfection. I especially love the ride work in the latter part of this. I always loved the sound of that ride.
Impossibly perfect; bravo Sterling.
