This little stunt they put on for Adam probably costed them close to $30,000 even for 10 minutes lol. Expensive demonstration lol.

I realized I mistook plenty of actual sets for CGI because I couldn't imagine them being real. Absolutely stunning work by everyone involved in creating them.

"No green screen" Music to my ears. Old school. 2049 landed in the box office like the original did. Hopefully it will age well and grow into a classic as well.

green screens are fairly old school though even the road warrior used em

Grevlain I gave this movie a solid 9/10 and so did my brother
But it sad to say that this movie will not be a classic
The theater I went to I saw two people fall asleep and one walk out after 2 hours

Just remind that the original blade runner also did a flop at his launch. It only became a classic after years.

    • @RJrules64

It's funny because you have it backwards! It's only through the power of modern software that they don't need to use the Old School green screens any more.

There's a Bladerunner Fan Film called "Slice of Life" that utilizes miniatures and projectors as well to create beautiful backdrop shots of the Bladerunner World - th-cam.com/video/fcDJCZrwkLw/w-d-xo.html
I think it is just absolutely amazing to see how basically the same techniques are utilized both by really small fan productions as well as big movies.

To me, this is modern day film-making at its best: using insane budgets and technical possibilities to create these amazing practical sets, models and digital effects to create - in the end - a composition out of all these things that just looks and feels fantastic and immersive, not only to the viewer but also to the people working on the project.

    • @G1NZOU

What was so great about this scene is that it was the first scene right after K escapes his caged mind, it is the defining moment when he goes from "pre programmed" to entirely making his own decision, which Luv can't predict. But even though she get's shot down she envies K, she envies that he has finally turned "human", something she has been wanting herself forever, and that is also why she childishly says "I'm the best" after beating him the first time.
This scene has so much going for it, but so many people don't get it at all, because they fell off the story 2 hours ago and have no clue what's going on.

This reminds me of when I was a kid in a swimming pool with a raft. I’d jump up and down timing it to make the pool completely full of waves similar to how they did it here. Just much smaller scale. Lol.
Who else used to fill up a pool with raft waves ?

    • @SeanOzz
      @SeanOzz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Awesome. we did that as well but if you got one of those foam matts you could make the pool like an ocean bouncing up and down in rhythm just like what the crains were doing.

I’m so glad I had the chance to see that movie at the cinema when it came out. Watching it on a small screen with limited sound quality doesn’t do it justice. And I’m happy to have found this video, having wondered how those scenes were shot. I never would have guessed it was in the middle of a Forest with old run down buildings surrounding it. Wonderful ingenuity. Blade Runner 2049 has quickly become one of my all time favorites since I first saw it.

Tested's Adam Savage was channeling the Mythbusters Adam Savage for this episode.
I was almost expecting a jump cut to Jamie Hyneman saying "Now for the next part of this experiment, Adam is going to..."
    I Love It!
