Sedan's comfort and SUV's future definitely a slight confusion. Auto market made us to flow with the current trend for sure. Being a sedan supporter very hard for me to say I am going to choose SUV. Looking forward for the second episode.... Well done

Yeah moreover... We should also appreciate the evolution of SUVs too... They were not typical family cars when they had body-ladder frame... Lots of body roll.... Tiring ride etc But true suvs nowerdays also have less demand (eg see thar, gurkha, scorpio, etc families dont prefer it much) All the trend now is behind those' tall body monocoque 'designs Or raised up hatchbacks, or crossovers what yo say.... Which is basically a CAR more than SUV.....when this trend was started by duster, duster had an option of 4x4....but now see people call creta, seltos etc as SUV.....
Nice observation Adityan. I must say the one company that killed it's own flagship product is Renault and it's Duster. Great product that introduced India to compact SUV segment.
Bad roads forced many to move with higher ground clearance cars. Buyers of this era likes to take their cars to different terrains without fear, which won't be peacefully possible with Hatchback or Sedan. Sedan gives the best feel to drive as well as to travel…our bad roads made me move to SUV parallely i also had sub suv…but now im back to a c segment sedan and i will always have a sedan as my primary segment vehicle…suv will be my secondary segment vehicle…i think this will balance the practicality of our road condition with an sucand desire/comfort to ride with a sedan.
Great video team. When I was a kid, i used to draw a full size sedan. In my mind as a kid a real car should look like this(sedan) While playing video games.. nfs underground.. I used to trade Honda Civic and customise to the fullest.. it used to be like a dream car.. being such a fan of sedan’s when I bought my first car in 2015, I couldn’t afford a sedan. Bought 2015 facelifted jazz. One awesome car so reliable and not even a single issue. Delivered me the same efficiency and performance!! I clocked 80k kms..then decided to say good bye.. then the biggest question. What’s next? I decided I want only a sedan.. and I shortlisted rapid and 5th gen city.. then I got my 5th gen city 5 months back!! Yes.. each n every person asked y city? Y not creta or seltos? But y? Is it a crime to buy a sedan in this era? Seriously!! Wanna talk about back seat comfort? Anyone? 😊 I always dreamt to buy a proper sedan. Talking abt city right from my childhood that was (is always) a class apart car! So if ur really a sedan lover even in this era, u can never buy a so called SUV’s whole heartedly!

An excellent discussion with chronological order of the different models of cars and strategies of manufacturers. You spoke people's mind! In fact I recently went to buy BMW 3 series. But ended up buying B Class for the reasons you spoke. Though it is not an SUV, it has got some features of it in terms of driver seat position, spacious cabin etc., The point I am trying to make is people are moving away from sedans. By the way I am living outside India and regardless of country, the global market is moving towards SUVs I guess as I see the vehicles on roads here!

awesome episode bro whenever am seeing your episodes, i feel that video finished in 5 min but that 5 min eats 51min thats a true point. Iam a vendor of kia and am always will be in kia manufacturing plant only.
Nice Content. I bought a Polo TSI manual last year, coz of confusing future b/w IC and EV. But my next car will be a crossover. Indian roads deserve it. Heart is with Slavia, Mind says Kushaq. Let us see the future. Asir bro's suggestion played an important role in selection b/w Polo and Altroz.
From our experience, we are training 4 SUVS:2 SEDAN a month. Even in training, we find SUVs to train easy because of the body judgements. Front bonnet visibility makes judgement easy in SUV from training experience of first time car buyers. On the other hand, sedan is easy to train in Narrow streets as we can judge ground objects like dogs, rocks etc.., To add on it solely relies on which area the student lives(North Chennai difficult Narrow roads) and What parking he has (some has deadly ramp slope) ?
Hello Asir i am not that into cars but I randomly stumbled on a vid of yours two weeks back and I am binging your content non stop when I have time. Very addictive plus informative and interesting . Keep it up Sedan valga !
Like how classical bikes coming back and doing rounds now. Sedans too will revive, may be someday premium carmakers like BMW, Mercedes and Audi can bring affordable D segment sedans. I remember BMW official once said, we have to do aggressive pricing for X1 coz it is the gateway for first time BMW buyers. Like TH-cam virals, crossovers/compact SUVs are in the current trend. Indian roads have come a long way esp highways, that way improved roads going forward will revive sedan market. This is not just a prediction but more EV vehicles in the future, low center of gravity for battery placement, sedans will make a comeback. But interesting content, kudos to Motorwagon team.
Recent addition to the motowagon family!! Asir sir! You are absolute beauty, I love seeing your explanations! Coming to your question, my love will love always go for SUV over a Sedan💥

Our first car was swift 2nd gen diesel bought in 2013. Then now in 2021 when we started looking for a next car we were attracted towards SUVs and our preference was diesel. So we took test drive for almost all the sub4m SUVs and got attracted towards ecosport (Since Kicks didnt had a diesel option). But still feel if rapid had a diesel we would have bought it. Its ride quality and comfort was the best among all the cars which I took test drive during this period. Sedans comfort and ride quality can't be matched.
I had Hyundai accent now upgraded to skoda kushaq. Sedan has comfort. But for city ride mid suv is best compared to sedan. Lot of parking issue, traffic torture almost 80% I used drive in city. So my point of view mid size suv is best. Coming to this video I was wondering i dindnt skip 51:22 sec. Just watching without pausing it. Kudos to him.
Congratulations team, wonderful episode even changed my mindset from sedan to suv because of parking space in chennai City...I used to take sedan from zoom car for satisfaction..
It was too good to see the discussion. Kindly create a playlist for podcast. To your question I had Swift and having SCross now. But the premium I always feel sedan is super and SUV creates the existence and appearance.
I was planning to wait for Skoda Slavia for an upgrade from hatchback and truly wanted to have a piece of German engineering, the absence of diesel engine pushed me to Creta. Crossovers makes sense for our roads and offers much more practicality than C and D segment sedans, sedans are dying by a thousand cuts due to the exceptional value provided by these crossovers.
Indian road conditions is the main driver for SUVs. Besides we have flexibility of using boot space within the car, which is largely lost in sedans. In fact the crossover attraction have definitely grasped the customers all over the world, not just in India. Especially in the Middle East and US, where fuel prices are not much of a concern people go with SUVs in most cases
Hi bro I have seen almost every of ur review videos and first time seeing your podcast video .. Today mrng I saw ur revisit video of zen .I saw that revisit video bcoz we had zen petrol in our garage First we owned Maruthi 800 Then we got maruthi omni V had tata tata sierra old 2 door Contessa Maruthi zen petrol After that we got fiat linea at 2010 After that my dad got additional car that is swift I have used linea single handly for 10yrs I have driven about 2 lakhs kms ..not even my dad has used the car I want to change for a situation. I tried all suv sub4m, compact suv, entry level suv Almont every car nexon, harrier, sonet, seltos, venue, creta, hector xuv500, Honda wrv I didnt like those car bcoz I can't drive in chennai traffic or it doesn't have highway control or stability..monthly I will drive around 3000km in and outside city ..I saw using linea for 10 cars 2 lakhs kms.i wanted to replace it ..my option was only verna city rapid..I got verna and I'm loving it to drive in city n especially in highway..if I cruise at 160 to 170 at cornering I have most control n stability on it ..I don't see any of those car give that confidence..im love sedan cars ..that Era shouldn't end
Asir Anna, I heard a car designer's interview long back, where he said why there would be no family sedans in future in a designer's perspective. He said, powertrain technology in future is going to be totally driven by electric and hybrid. In such cases, it is easy to make a clean and practical family car design accommodating the components of the powertrain in the shape of a crossover, a SUV or a MPV. A traditional three box sedan shape will just make things so complicated and family car designers will shy away from it, he said.
Very informative podcast and slightly ahead of time. While it is true that SUVs are gaining traction, there is a good customer segment for Sedans. The comfort and safety offered by Sedans is unmatched. The sub 4 mtr SUV would actually eat into the hatch/premium hatch segment. Having said, Sedans are just about 18% of global car sales. I believe there will be a stable demand for Sedans especially after EVs take over.
Very informative podcast on the rise and fall of hatchbacks, Sedans and rise and rise only of CUV. In brief Sedan is a Sedan(nothing can beat it's driving dynamics), CUV is a CUV (Meant as bloated hatchbacks feeding on the frenzies of ground clearance, macho looks etc), SUV is a SUV (If truly blooded )and Indian customers are Indian customers falling for gimmicks and changing the market trends and confusing the carmakers with half knowledge and decisions prompted by various factors (fuel efficiency, bad roads, family and peer pressure)😊😅. Changes can happen in the automobile segment only when these dynamics change (Safety first, Environment friendliness and joy of motoring over the joy of others while this may sound idealistic as well 😊)
@mw , when I opened video, I saw 50+ minutes duration and thought long 🙃 . But after watching, it surprised me that i reached end of the video. Best video of 2022 so far
Super, Need a second part as well.. Heart breaking 💥 Started my driving Journey with First gen Hondacity (Sold), then Hurricane Endeavour and Figo aspire.. But still Hondacity is the best car for me.. Even when I think of upgrading my aspire only Hondacity (Comfort) is my preference whereas my whole family is voting for Cross over SUVs for the reason of road presence and during rainy days no need to worry abt stagnant waters (Residing in Chennai)... Stil my personal choice Honda City ... Nice detailed and brief explanation...
Sir, I like your way of presentation. If I come to kanyakumari. I will definitely meet ur team. Your video comparison of Venue and Sonet was amazing and cleared my doubt. Even I am a car fan. But you really give technical awareness too.
It always up and down in industries, if you see the US or any European car sales , some times suv rules for certain time and then seden for certain time , so when people see SUV or tall body vehicle sooner they will feed up with it and will turn to seden , that's how it works 👍
2013 I was Travelling to chennai from my hometown in Maruthi 800 to Join UG all I could remember is seeing Brown dusters everywhere in Highways Even inside college Never thought it will take over sedans tbh
Very interesting conversation, I love sedans.. sedans will be back may be in a different form, when electric conversions become affordable and make sense..
I think to deal with bad road conditions cars with good ground clearance and big wheels are needed. So to buy only one practical car for the entire family that'll last for atleast 10+ years the ideal choice would be a roomy SUV or a van. I like the idea of high seating position so my favorite would be a pickup truck, but Indian market doesnt have much to offer
Very interesting conversation Bro! Listening to this podcast makes me feel like enriched with automobiles market trends for decades though i recently become an auto enthusiast. Miles to go brother! Though it feels heartening to hear Sedan’s pathetic state, I personally feel they continue to exist but prices will be hiked due to low demand.
Nice, If there is a chance, pls discuss about the variants and must haves in a car while a buyer considering buying a car. Most of the brands have 50 variants 40 variants in a single model. ( Except honda ). How a buyer should choose/pick the variant? For example, Tata Nexon has 44 variants - which will be the VALUE FOR MONEY and have all needed features?
As time passes, people and situations change. I had a 2nd generation Maruti Wagonr VXI AMT for 5 years. When it was third year, I was thinking about upgrading to a sedan and my preference was Maruti Ciaz AT. But when I came to purchase decision after 5 years, I ended up buying an XUV 300 Diesel W8(O)AMT couple of months back. First reason Maruti was not having the diesel. Second was build quality, practicality and seating position.
Excellent topic and well narrated guys😊As you said in the last I own a polo 1.5 TDI and I wanted to upgrade it to a 2L Jetta or Octavia TDI.But both are not in the market and I miss those diesel sedans. I truly not a fan of crossovers and SUVs.So fingers crossed and waiting for a enthusiastic diesel sedan😊😊
Mostly it depends on our roads, moods and lifestyle we are migrating to one style to other. Thus the manufacturers are catching and making it to adopt. It goes ever. Loved the interaction and your clarifications. Expecting more like this on your bucket list.
Am new to cars and stuff. Your channel and works are very helpful in opinion making. Pls try to publish the audio version in Apple Podcasts (and other podcast platforms) too.
We need more cars like slavia, civic, Linea to honour the term car. SUVs can never be a car. Indian roads must improve drastically to see top sedan from manufacturers.
Many indian roads (town / cities) are not suitable for low ground clearance (sedan / hatchback) vehicles. Many were actually looking for higher ground clearance vehicle. Traffic congestion, parking issues discourage sedan buying
Bro.. in our roads.. rains.. I want to prefer mid suv.. but I love the sedan comfort.. it's really confusing in selecting.. Due to external source.. suv section move pana vendiyadhaa irukuu... Kadupaa iruku.. I love sedan.. but vangaa mudiyalaa..🤔🤔
So being a computer engineer I didn't have any knowledge about cars and it's segmens...until I find this channel. In fact we didn't own a car. I mean my parents and their parents... So on. So going ride in the car is some what big thing for us. And I barely...not barely... I had not enjoyed any long ride experiences in car. Till now I drived only two cars. One is Alto 800 for licence. Another one is wagon r(2012). And Yes...! Our first car...😍. We bought it in second hand market. But still a good one. We bought it just before 4 months. Now we are going trips nearby around 50 to 80km... By riding a car and feeling it... It gives comfort and safety over bikes with some additional jolly experiences.... And this makes me feel like car is a essential one for our lives... From your videos ... you are saying as...by riding an SUV it gives comfort and fun to drive experience... By riding an sedan it gives extreme comfort... I like to experience those... Hope I will The point is... Your videos are extremely informative and useful... A guy like me can learn more from your videos... Just by listening... And Thank you so much for your efforts... Computer or Mechanical... Engineering is Engineering.. right? Now I am very curious to know about each engineering things in cars...how engines are designed.. how body designed.. and so on... My request is... Kindly add some engineering things slowly in your playlist... Like types of car bodies.. type of petrol engines, diesel engines...so on... And I need 2nd episode for this SUV discussion... Hope you will do... Thank you 💝
"car" nu sonnale mind ku varadhu oru sedan structure dhan❤🔥. still sedans have tones of fans for sure. and sub 4m suvs dont give ample bootspace like sedans.
bro, crossover's suv nowadays success was. I think the new birth of ecu, abs, ebd, esc, tc, etc......that electronic features will tally high ground clearance, vehicle height ,centre of gravity, etc.... if I am correct , in part 2 podcast confirm it.
From my perspective, now crossover and SUV are in dominance. It will continue for 1 or 2 decade. Again when people see more SUV's in road, their mind will change and the Sedan dominance will take over. The main + point for SUV is ground clearance and when we get the SUV it enriches the respect with the surrounding people (ex: Politicians going in Fortuner)
You have done an excellent job. Highly informative, beautiful discussion, unable to discontinue at any time. Thank you for your excellent content. Why you have missed. Chevrolet entry level cross. I think Chevrolet cross & Ford fusion are the only trend changer for the Cross overs/SUV s. Bring more such wonderful coverage. Thank you all for your excellent video. Why don't you mention about Toyota & Jeep co. vehicles?
Hello Team, A big fan here... You talked about all manufacturers and their SUVs. What about Honda? They still sustain with Amaze and City! VW are skoda are coming up with Virtus and Slavia. What if the Ciaz and the Dzire gets a generation change? Then we'll have more sedans... Will that create an impact again? Big Indian car manufacturers don't have Sedans.. is that a reason why SUVs are getting famous in India?
Hi MotoWagon, Nice & wonderful conversation, I’m new to the MotoWagon family. Recently I bought crossover suv(kiger). Really we forgot sedan (city, fiesta, verana) etc
Today scenario moreover crossover i like to buy because of the bad road condtions im facing daily even i previously drove sedans like esteem, city, fiesta classic, ikon, verna, dzire, ciaz and even most of the hatchbacks still driving, their underchase are getting beaten very badly and suspension was needed to change in quick succession years. That's why obviously I'm switching to suv crossovers for these reasons like enthusiast driving, Commanding view, High ground clearance, big spacious backseats and boot space.
Asir sir to be honest I am surprised you mentioned about Quanto. I have test driven it when it was launched. I then realized that it would be a tricky car on high speed stability since it was a chopped version of xylo 1st generation. Speaking of sedans and some of the gems we have lost already, I have always loved the Chevy Cruze. Its a diesel rocket which the car market never praised.. can you do a video on that one in the UNDERRATED CATEGORY pls.. @motowagon..
Sedan kudukura cmfrt entha suv layum varathu becoz of the wheelbase that sedans have i have driven scross, taigun and brezza but ennaya ketta naa drive nd travel panna honda city thaan best sedans are always vera lvl❤❤❤ love u motowagon👍👍
Also as mentioned Nissan kicks is the most underrated suv, during the showroom presence (went 2 3 time while choosing magnite) I feel the same question running over mind, why this car is most underrated, kicks even has a good quality of space and build comparing its competitors creta(1st gen). As mentioned do a video on Nissan kicks👍😊
Hey guys. Awesome video as always. Just a suggestion this main video + thumbnail sized video format looks odd. Maybe all of you can sit together in single frame. Just my 2 cents.
Excellent explanation 👍👍...naa slavia vangalanu wait panre slavia vangalama illa suv polama kusaq, taigun. 4 members family use and fun to drive ku....??

High Groundclearance, bootspace, All-rounder sedans (slavia) is the next trendsetter (next decade)
Boss, Time changes, People changes. But a True Enthusiast will always prefer a Sedan over a SUV.
True ❤️❤️
But I changed from suv to sedan 😂
Well said bro..me too recently bought Skoda rapid..sedan is always the best in comfort segment👍

Will do.
That's the mindset of us as per the trend
I was planning to wait for Skoda Slavia for an upgrade from hatchback and truly wanted to have a piece of German engineering, the absence of diesel engine pushed me to Creta. Crossovers makes sense for our roads and offers much more practicality than C and D segment sedans, sedans are dying by a thousand cuts due to the exceptional value provided by these crossovers.
Sedans love never ends🔥❤️
Indian road conditions is the main driver for SUVs. Besides we have flexibility of using boot space within the car, which is largely lost in sedans. In fact the crossover attraction have definitely grasped the customers all over the world, not just in India. Especially in the Middle East and US, where fuel prices are not much of a concern people go with SUVs in most cases
Hi bro
I have seen almost every of ur review videos and first time seeing your podcast video ..
Today mrng I saw ur revisit video of zen .I saw that revisit video bcoz we had zen petrol in our garage
First we owned Maruthi 800
Then we got maruthi omni
V had tata tata sierra old 2 door
Contessa
Maruthi zen petrol
After that we got fiat linea at 2010
After that my dad got additional car that is swift
I have used linea single handly for 10yrs I have driven about 2 lakhs kms ..not even my dad has used the car
I want to change for a situation.
That's odd in my perspective.
Nissan leaf, Tesla models are sedans
His narration is very good and interesting to listen. My first time long video I watched without losing interest and yearned to listen more
Very informative podcast and slightly ahead of time.
Thoroughly enjoyed the video ! One of the best motocast...
Thank you so much 🙌 💚
Super, Need a second part as well..
Heart breaking 💥
Started my driving Journey with First gen Hondacity (Sold), then Hurricane Endeavour and Figo aspire..
23:44 yes bro I agree...Hyundai இன்றுவரை எப்போதுமே காத்திருந்து market-ஐ தக்கவைக்கிறது....
Correct but following maruti suzuki quality.... NextGen tin cans
2013 I was Travelling to chennai from my hometown in Maruthi 800 to Join UG all I could remember is seeing Brown dusters everywhere in Highways Even inside college
Never thought it will take over sedans tbh
Yes, you are right
Nice,
If there is a chance, pls discuss about the variants and must haves in a car while a buyer considering buying a car.
Most of the brands have 50 variants 40 variants in a single model. ( Except honda ).
How a buyer should choose/pick the variant?
For example,
Tata Nexon has 44 variants - which will be the VALUE FOR MONEY and have all needed features?
As time passes, people and situations change. I had a 2nd generation Maruti Wagonr VXI AMT for 5 years. When it was third year, I was thinking about upgrading to a sedan and my preference was Maruti Ciaz AT. But when I came to purchase decision after 5 years, I ended up buying an XUV 300 Diesel W8(O)AMT couple of months back. First reason Maruti was not having the diesel. Second was build quality, practicality and seating position.
True Moto Wagon Team ..Even I forgot SEDAN existence and bought Cross Over Nexon 😜
Is it nice? My family planning to buy . I only stand for honda city . Petrol ⛽😞
New XUV700 (for budget and feature) and Taigun (rear design and built) literally changed my preference... Punch is added catalyst...
Mostly it depends on our roads, moods and lifestyle we are migrating to one style to other. Thus the manufacturers are catching and making it to adopt. It goes ever. Loved the interaction and your clarifications. Expecting more like this on your bucket list.
Awesome work! Glad to hear it in Tamil
Also one poin you haven't talked about tata Aria I think it started the crossovergame,to my knowledge
Am new to cars and stuff. Your channel and works are very helpful in opinion making. Pls try to publish the audio version in Apple Podcasts (and other podcast platforms) too.
You can hear it in Spotify, Anchor etc
Good one👍 end of the podcast sounda like sedan single ah than vaarum .. crossover than kootama varum. ☺️
Main reason low seating and cannot sit and getup frequently, bucket seats back pain problem, long distance tiredness...
I really missing the sedan era. Your podcast helped me to remember those golden days.
Hope I will
The point is...
Thank you 💝
We need more videos like this.
Kindly give us knowledge of cars revolution.
It's really useful for us

Really an excellent podcast, time ponadhe theriyala and It bought some good memories. Keep going 👍🏽👍🏽👏🏽
bro, crossover's suv nowadays success was. I think the new birth of ecu, abs, ebd, esc, tc, etc......that electronic features will tally high ground clearance, vehicle height ,centre of gravity, etc.... if I am correct , in part 2 podcast confirm it.
Enakum intha conversation la kalanthukanum nu aasai ah iruku subscriber live la kalanthukura option kodunga MOTOwagan team❤️
Why don't you mention about Toyota & Jeep co. vehicles?
Thank you so much for your love and support. Will rectify the mistakes in coming videos 💚🙌
Really appreciate this type of conversation,, interesting conversation about SUV and sub SUV
Good conversation.. talk about ev batteries. I heard a chinees carmaker byd brings a new battery tech..
Happy to see this kind of Conversation.... Good Job bro
Completely enjoyed this content , without skipping a second. Wishing to do more
Hello Team, A big fan here...
All manufacturers are now hesitant to launch new sedans in the Indian Market due to low volumes.
Slavia and Virtus too are coming soon
It was a nice discussion. Really I got a clarity about auto market on past and at present.
U you guys pls sit and chat together in one frame ..like my fav cinema channel valaipechu ...it will be interesting...

None of the SUV can give Sedan comfort. I support sedan. Need part 2 video.
It's always happy to watch your conversation Asir bro.... Please have a podcast on the same topic once more...
Sure. Thank you ☺️
Sir , I want to buy Tata Nexon XZ plus Kaziranga Edition petrol or Volkswagen Taigun TSI Comfort line . Which is the best one ? Please suggest me.
Nice video, I liked alot,,, especially the time period and details you covered was really good
Sedan kudukura cmfrt entha suv layum varathu becoz of the wheelbase that sedans have i have driven scross, taigun and brezza but ennaya ketta naa drive nd travel panna honda city thaan best sedans are always vera lvl❤❤❤ love u motowagon👍👍

Tomorrow 12 pm we are bringing a content on the Kicks.
