We visited Crooked Room Studios to witness the power of Neumann studio monitors and MA1 optimisation in action. We find out if Neumann lives up to their claims and can really make any space sound great! A kitchen and a hallway aren't normally your first choice for mixing suites, but trust us you're in for a surprise!

A very cool solution to rebuild a new monitors in the studio with a cap pulled over your ears. 😄👍🏼

What a brilliant display of technology. You definitely helped me determine that the KH80's can work in my space using the MA1 tool. Thanks a ton.

I love how he listens 7 secs of music and says, "yeah, it sounds great" while using a beanie 😵

Hi,Can someone tell me if I would have a better result with two kh 310 or two kh120 + kh750 subwoofer ?
    Thanks

They're great except the software for MA-1 is driving me mad (got KH750 with two KH120). Every time when I'm doing the calibrating stuff it tells me at the end that I had to restart because of dropouts. Input is via AES (with impedance converter between RME and KH750). Playing sound normally doesn't give any glitches or so. I'll find a way (except that callibration process is quite loud and noisy).

Soundtrack/Mix sounds kinda shitty all the time at each setup (really blurry, muddy, washed out, lack of definition).
If the mix was done on any of these studio monitors (which are actually really good ones), I would definitely go for smaller ones with a much less aggressive bass and low-mid response.
The studio monitors are obviously much more than your room can handle.
In places with rather bad room acoustics (lots of bass reflections), I would rather recommend Yamaha MSP3 or Yamaha MSP3-A.
Some of the worldwide best audio engineer precision tools with some of the highest experienced audio resolution that don't cause nasty room modes.

I think it is impossible to judge the room sound from the audio track in this video. It probably uses flimsy camera audio or even the lavaliers on the presenters and/or off-axis from the nearfield. Since the studio looks legit sizewise and treatment-wise, I assume it is well fit for this level of audio setup. I am running a smaller, less thoroughly treated studio with KH 150s / 750 and they sound phenomenal / detailed / clear / deep etc. also at higher SPLs out of the box even without MA1. What I found, comparing with Neumann's smaller size monitors: even though all of their models do an above-average job at tone reproduction IMO, you kind of hear a smaller box pushing a tad bit harder for sound...

Interestin to see that KH310 was measured with a significant dip around 620Hz, while KH150 has no such thing. Hmm...

Anyone know if I can use kh120 ii dsp with a non Neumann sub (Adam audio sub8) or do I have to buy a Neumann sub

You would need a Neumann Sub to use the MA1 software, otherwise you would need to use another's program like Dirac live or similar

This is something I have been wanting to do for a very long time, I now have an App and I now need to get a microphone like yours so I can measure the frequencies in my room, I do have different speakers and I do need some room treatment to tame any reverberating sound waves.
This has been an outstanding example and brilliant lesson in what must be done to optimise the speakers to my room. Pure gold, thanks for sharing……..⚠️🫡
