For us that took part in this concert in Berlin it was a wunderful / great / exceptional experience to be there. We only had 3 rehearsals to get the 2000 members, from 27 nations, of the choir and the orchestra on one line. The statement, november 2018, 100 years after the end of WW1 was and is still necessary in a world where still war keeps claim victims.
I too was one of the singers, absolutely remarkable to be a part of, never forgotten. I'm urging my choral union to perform this, albeit on a much smaller scale. Magnificent achievement, Karl Jenkins at Berlin's Mercedes Benz centre.
Was mich irritiert ist, das die Menschen sich zu gerne zu solchen Massen zusammenfassen lassen, ob es nun zu solchen Versuchen Frieden zu stiften ist, aber genauso viele sich zu kriegerischen Gruppen organisieren. What irritates me is that people are so keen to group themselves together in such masses, whether it is to try to make peace, but just as many organize themselves into warlike groups.
Jenkins' magnificent score, performed superbly in front of the ghastly images of war's madness....leaders of nations should be compelled to watch and listen before insanely sending their minions off to fight. I refus to accept war as inevitable. Thank you, Karl Jenkins.
Profoundly moving and thought provoking. We all share this beautiful earth, it belongs to us all. Karl Jenkins I give you thanks for this gift to us all.
The Benedictus brings me to tears every time. Especially with so many. I think that's what the Composer/Conductor was after, such a visually emotional reaction. Wishing I could have been there.
0:30 1. L'homme armé 6:32 2. Call to Prayers 8:55 3. Kyrie 17:10 4. Save Me from Bloody Men 19:08 5. Sanctus 26:10 6. Hymn Before Action 28:49 7. Charge! 36:05 8. Angry Flames 40:50 9. Torches 43:46 10. Agnus Dei 47:35 11. Now the Guns have Stopped 50:45 12. Benedictus 58:22 13. Better is Peace
The quality is not good, as you say but the music is so incredibly strong and your video permits me to see something of one of the performances of this incredible piece. Thank you.
One of the most powerful things I have ever seen and heard. Given what's happened in the world since this remarkable concert, it feels like a cry in the wilderness. Maybe one day, before it's too late, we'll get the message.
How big is this choir?! O.O No wonder there are oopsies in the mix, it's already a miracle it holds together until the end! This is insane. And amazing. And beautiful. I got surprised to hear Angry Flames, Now the guns have stopped and Better is peace in other languages than English, though it's absolutely logical. I would like to have subtitles now. I can't figure if the images behind are a good thing or not. But then, I already have a so clear idea of the piece in my mind that it clouds my judgment. Maybe not through all of it... I regret the images are too explicit some times, not about showing horrible things, but too recognizable things like WWII Germany and 11 September. The Armed Man is supposed to talk about war in general, through time and places, not specific wars. That's why too specific images triggered me.
Het is niet de oproep tot gebed wat terroristisch is, het zijn de daden van individuele personen die achter de terroristen schuilgaan, welk geloof ze ook aanhangen.
Well, i enjoyed this. But i am struggling with its purpose and compositional makeup. This is more a memorial or cenotaph for the cruelty of war than a mass for piece, and i miss a lot of connections that are binding the world. The fact they use TV and such a large choir does seem for me like a mega show to impress. What does it emphasize? Well, honestly, this goes way beyond the musical needs of the piece. How many ressources... for what? But i appreciate the effort and mind of Sir Jenkins and the musicians. Peace and Love to you all
Very old and necessary discussion my friend. But don't blame them. Native tongue and interpretations, unclear research and sources can't give us the absolute right way how it could have truly sounded. But they should get into this research more, i agree.
This was…kind of a mess! I mean scads of tuning problems, and tempo issues with the chorus and orchestra seemingly not on the same page at times. I understand it can be pretty tricky keeping 2,000 people together, but there’s no excuse for some of it.
I heard that too, but you know what, in my opinion, that's the real beauty of live music performed by live human-beings. Anything (wrong!)might happen anytime! I don't know how professional these musicians are, but my amateur orchestra is gonna perform this mass this autumn, and yeah, I guess there'll be some issues there too! :P to me, that's the beauty of art, because, come on, this isn't THAT bad!
@@danayang7712 agree to you. How big is the stage and how many individual to perform a live music? Even though Harvagan’s Goethe Symphony cant make 100% perfect unless in a studio.

Un lavoro commovente e coinvolgente che mette in evidenza la follia della guerra

After Berlin I performed The Armed Man almost 20 times in numberes places. It still gives me a good feeling.

This evening I will sing it in Padova sala dei Giganti
Bravo!!! 😍👏👏

About 2000 people from 27 nations. They rehearsed only 3 times isn't that great.
I agree with you about the images.
Conducted by the composer himself.
Jenkin's❤❤❤❤

C'est toujours ce qui se fait avant un act terroriste.
Which is this orchestra?

What is with the conductor ( Jenkins) giving zero acknowledgement to the orchestra or choir ?
Sometimes I feel that the Holy Spirit became human although the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit are 3 in 1 🙌
Is it really so difficult to pronounce "kyrie eleison" (κύριε ἐλέησον) the right way? Apparently it is.

I think you missed the point.

But the sentiment is surely so much more important than the niceties !!

You try doing this magnificent music. You are just a complainer if you find fault.
The muzzein call for prayer spoiled a feast that would have ended in ecstasy ; what a pity! ... a complete fiasco!
Karl Jenkins included the call for peace by a muezzin in the original score, you ignorant person!
most people who believe in Islam are peacefull,, but there irrelevant.
Sorry that it feels like that to you. It took me by surprise and I totally loved it. The visuals also took me by surprise and it seemed so right.
I found it perfect: peace is something every decent man wishes
So ironic that he uses terrorist music in the very second part...
Just because it's muslim, it's not terrorism
it is sad to see that some people are brainwashed into thinking that a call to prayer is "terrorist"...
If it is used by a terrorist on a terrorist campaign, is it terrorist?
