    CAPACITIVE VOLTAGE DIVIDER IT IS SAFER AND BETTER OVERALL TO USE A BATTERY 3 TO 9 VOLTS WITH CURRENT LIMITING RESITOR TO TEST LEDS THE TRANSIENT SPIKE 117 VOLTS COULD DAMAGE A LED THAT WAS OTHERWISE OK SO ONE BATTERY AND ONE RESISTOR VS A BUNCH OF CAPS AND RESISTORS

    • @danny323dee
      @danny323dee ปีที่แล้ว

      are you using a boost converter to up the 3 to 9 volts to 117v? the only thing the 9v battery will do is to allow you to test each individual led.

    Your circuit is interesting, however, this type of building style IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! It is in the best interest of your community to remove this video and not post such dangerous builds with open lethal voltages. The alternative is to build a proper enclosure and use a small 1:1 isolation transformer and also incorporate a fuse for extra safety.

      @@RJEDITALL Dear Sir, I like your particular circuit building style when it comes to low no lethal voltages, but in this case, there are lethal voltage levels involved at the input. It depends how confident you are that some novice will try your circuit and not accidentally electrocute themselves.

      They shouldnt use a soldering iron either because that can burn your fingers. Health amd safety thinking kills, they die of boredom.

    • @lucdrouin2625
      @lucdrouin2625 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@robtherub usage of a soldering iron is standard and acceptable practice in this field. It's quite OK ☺️. The build style is unique as not circuit board or mounting plates are used. One can also pull wire sleeves over exposed component leads to prevent accidental shorts. Under adult supervision, 8 to 12 year old children can learn soldering by building a readily available radio kit sold on Internet. It's a valuable skill to learn.

      @@biot2156 it's diode mode. It measures voltage drop of diodes (led, zener etc). Which is kinda uneccesary since the multimeter already has a diode mode (but that mode can't measure zener diodes or leds over a certain voltage, usually 3,... volts)

    This is a really dangerous device, since all the parts are with AC-line voltage. You can protect yourself by using any quality RCD-protection with a setpoint of 10 mA. It is not 100% garantee of safe. As an engineer, I do not recommend circuits that are galvanically connected to the AC-line: transformer-free power supplies and autotransformers.

      It is testing diodes and their forward voltage drops. Multimeters can do this but not more than 3v.

      the circuit is replicating a current source for testing led lights, only someone who repairs led lights would build such a circuit, all the idiots who are saying this circuit is unsafe does not even know what it is for and how it works.

      I used to have one of these with the loud bell that I found in a railroad scrap pile. I ran it as a window alarm from a 12 or 24 VDC transformer in a 110 VAC wall outlet. It was VERY DAMN LOUD in my very tiny, 8 × 16 ft. room!! 😁😁 (It was 40+ yrs ago, tho. I forget what else I needed for it but it wasn't much.)

      @@breannestahlman5953 If you only need to find one led you can use your multimeter or a 3v supply with a current limit resistor and test each led till you find ther faulty one but usually you can spot the faulty one since it will be slightly brown anyway. the device he makes can be use to determine if the fault is the led strings or the power supply
