I had an original paint '49 Tiger. I also restored a '50 Thunderbird. It was a concourse restoration. Mine had a correct Amal remote float bowel carburetor. Thunder blue was the color.
These are the bikes I've always wanted ever since I first saw "The Wild One" with Marlon Brando as a teenager. I always thought they were all riding harley's and indians, but Marlon's gang all had Triumphs, and Lee Marvin's gang all were riding flathead Harley's. There's nothing like a kickstart motorcycle, don't get me wrong, electric start is much more convenient, but there's something special about hopping on a motorcycle, and giving it a pump or two and starting the engine:-).
Fuzzy I used to own a 1964 6t thunderbird the beauty of it was the qd quickly detachable rear wheel one handy piece of kit especially when one got a rear puncture!
Beautiful. I watched The Wild One recently because I had never seen it. It's definitely "of an era." It doesn't really work by today's movie standards. The biker gangs have that 1950's West Side Story gangster vibe. Not very threatening. I've never gotten my 64 TR6 close to 100 mph. In top gear at 60mph it feels like it's working hard. I can't imagine getting it to 100.
Carburettor should be either an SU or a pre monoblock/remote reservoir Amal. Certainly the carb is 'incorrect', despite the fact this one would do a far better job.
Info I found stated it would have came with a SU MC21...I won't pretend to know what that is. The carb on the bike did say Amal but didn't have the reservoir. Beautiful motorcycle.
@@charlescawley9923 I'm fixing up my 51 T-Bird just like this one and I heard the sprunghub can be dangerous. It seems ok so far. "If it ain't broke...dont fix it" is my motto...
Looking good but.....on the original no extra front lights, no shiny silver bits on the rear mud guards and the rear light was oval not round but the small dickie seat on the rear mud guard is original,
THE MONOBLOC CARBERETTA WAS NOT INTRODUCED BY TRIUMPH ON THEIR MOTORCYCLES UNTIL 1954. THIS WAS TO REDUCE PRODUCTION COSTS. THIS 1952 MOTORCYCLE WOULD HAVE ORIGINALLY HAD AN EARLIER CARB.
I own one. Totally original cond and still going strong love riding it
Nice!
Dopo 70 anni ancora bellissima

@@stevekennedy8264 Thunderbirds were really good-looking
I had a 1953 6T in the sixties which I swapped for a "Dansette" transistor radio - wondering about that choice now? lol
Life was/is good!

Wahoo!

Have never seen it. May have to rent it soon. Thx
😢 the button in the middle of the nacelle is the magneto kill switch, the switch on the handlebar right side is the high/low headlamp beam switch 😢
Thanks!
Excellent

HD introduced the model " K " to compete head to head with the Triumphs in 52 or 53
Love the k model
😎👍👍
Wahoo
What is the color? I am going to repaint my thunderbird and want to do a throwback color.
I'm not sure on the color. Contact Baxtercycle.com They might be able to help. Thanks!
Isn't that what Marlon Brando rode in The Wild One?
Same model. We think he rode a 1950 Thunderbird in the movie
I believe he used his own bike in the movie
Wild One's.I do think 🤔 it was HIS bike too
Also the same model "the Fonze" rode
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I'm guessing the handlebars were a US issue
I really don't know but you could be correct. Wahoo!

@@forgottenmotorcycles Yes. They were pretty. However, it is said, no one who tried to take the sprung hub apart to repair it lived to tell the tale.
