Dear subscribers, the following are the links of the free data science courses from trusted service providers, as promised by Mahlatse Mariba: 1. For beginners: www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/ibm-data-science?irclickid=3Z1wE61caxyPRDETv0T9NSe0UkFQ37yKhQIEQU0&irgwc=1& 2. Advanced: www.coursya.com/product/advanced-data-science-with-ibm-specialization/?LinkedIn+& 3. For beginners: th-cam.com/video/ua-CiDNNj30/w-d-xo.html The IBM one is very good in that you get a certificate after completing the course. However, it is missing the statistics section, and statistics is a very important foundation in Data Science. So students can enroll for the freecodecamp course just to do the statistics part, once they have completed the statistics section, they can go and start the IBM one. According to Mahlatse there are many service providers which offer free data science courses including Havard. However, in the Havard course they separate sections which are supposed to be in one course, into different separate courses instead. And these courses are not free throughout the year. They are free only for a certain period and after that they go back to being priced. Mahlatse will share the link to his TH-cam channel once he has uploaded a video. Also, the link of the data science community will be shared once it is properly established. Thanks for the patience!
Interesting interview Dr Ben... Data is the new gold/oil. I have added a bit of data analytics for decision-making in the entrepreneurship module I teach. Data driven decisions*
Dr. Mashudu, I’m just wondering if Data Science is an option after doing bsc Mathematics/General and what other fields can I go into after graduating/ in post graduate?
Hi Dr Ben, thank you so much for the interview I really enjoyed it. However, I noticed that you guys mentioned quite a few links to be attached on the description box, but were not there. Kindly do attach them, I would be grateful if you could do that. Thank you!
Thank you @monoshaun9433. I didn't have the links at the time of uploading the video. I will liaise with Mahlatse to get the links. I will notify you once I have put the links in the description box.
@@benmahudu7431 Thank you so much, I would really appreciate that as this is very insightful and can also be accessible to Data Science aspirants, especially in South Africa (as he plans to create a community as mentioned by Mahlatse).
I’m doing Bcom in Economics and this my first year. I’m also doing some statistics and data science certifications.. I’d like to get an entry level data scientist job next year.. so how many portfolio projects do you recommend I should do.. and if you have some recommendations on data science projects with R programming please share.. Thank you.
We are in a process of creating a data science community as Mahlatse mentioned in the video. Such information will be shared in the community. I will notify those interested once we launch the community. Please make sure you subscribe to this channel to see the notification.
Yes. Of course, this will depend on how you performed in your third year. I think one of the requirements of the honours is that you must have done 2nd year mathematics or computer science. The other thing that you can start working on is your coding skills as it looks like it requires more of that skill.
Hi. I've been learning data science for the last year. I have a few projects on github and 2 web apps. I'm still struggling to get a interviews and jobs. I have started on a coursera data science professional. Last few weeks I've been feeling like what I'm doing is not going to work because I have no degree whatsoever.
