    Godzilla Minus One was my favorite film of 2023. Seeing such such a beautiful, emotional human story that balanced heartbreaking tragedy with the indomitable human spirit made me love this film so much.
    Seriously, thank you all for watching this video. It means a lot to me to see others expressed their love because this movie meant so much to me.

    It is not very common for people to go to the theater to see the same movie several times,
    The fact that there are so many of them for this movie is not because they want to see Godzilla again and again, but because they feel sympathy for the main character, "Shikishima", by comparing themselves with him.

    I'm not great with words, but I loved this film. I cried a lot during it. I was empathizing and hurting for both the people of Japan and for Godzilla (that's my bby right there). It reminded me heavily of all the very real atrocities going on in the world. Both past and present, especially now. Truly heartbreaking. Free Palastine. Free Congo. Free Sundan ❤️🖤💚

    Characters kept mentioning that their fight wasn't over even though the war was. Godzilla gave them something honorable to fight against because it was in protection of their people, not to further whatever agendas they were asked to fight and die for during the war. It was also nice to people questioning older traditions about dying with honor because how honorable can dying be if the cause did not justify the means? And even if the cause does justify it, do you still have to die to be considered honorable? Although they state that Japan itself treats life too carelessly, all of human history can attest that we really don't treat each other as we ought. While sad that they are having to kill a living being, it's also a result of humans meddling in things they don't truly understand, and for the safety of the innocent, they must go to war and right their wrongs.
    Also, while I've only seen the Showa Era movies (I'd love to see the Heisei and Millennium ones), it was fun to have a prequel to the classic 1954 movie, and also explain how Godzilla could return from the Oxygen Destroyer for Godzilla Raids Again because he really does just reappear, there's no explanation in that movie other than speculation that it's a second Godzilla (which is certainly possible, too, where does Minilla come from (not that we should really care)?). I guess Godzilla can regenerate from just a few cells if they can survive the Oxygen Destroyer. Also since they blew up his head in Minus One and then in the next movie (1954) completely disintegrate him, that means his character can change to become less the force of nature he initially was, and more a protector and hero because his personality can be completely rewritten as the body reconstructs itself, and not just at the whim of the writers for whatever might be popular from film to film. The movie works not just as a good story, but makes the lore better, too! Or at least, as I understand it, I won't claim to be an expert.

    • @mb2001
      @mb2001 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This isn't actually a prequel at all. That wouldn't make any sense for the original movie.

    Shin Gojira was a frill shark/fish that fed on too much radiation and ended up coming up onto the surface where he found he could breath.
    Minus One is a Godzilla that was literally the original except more modern and has some key differences + it has a very explosive atomic breath literally based upon that of an atomic bomb with its dorsal plates going outward when its about to shoot its breath representing the things you had to pull in order to detonate a nuke, and you could see minus ones pain when it came onto the shore of the soldier plane graveyard island, it was in pain and confused about what happened to it. Scared just like Shin Gojira.

Not to mention, when people say media "pushes" those politics, what they're actually talking about is minorities and LGBT characters existing, there's no actual politics there.

    • @Peasham
      @Peasham ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Jim-Mc Extremely so, currently in Japan an abandoned child's biological parents are always the ones that exclusively get to pick what happens to the child, unless it's impossible for them to be reached obviously, very few children in Japan are adopted due to this. Not to mention how a lack of biological connection is frowned upon worldwide, in Japan's hyper-conservative culture this is well amplified, and that's not even getting into Japan's messed up family dynamics and societal expectations themselves. Though a lot of Japanese stories feature adoption, it is very much so counter-culture, very much so a sociopolitical statement.
      And yeah, that's the thing, very few countries actually take PTSD seriously, even the ones that pretend like they do. We don't even know if the main guy wants to marry the girl or not, we just know how she feels, cuz he certainly hasn't had the ability to explore his own feelings on the topic considering his PTSD, but regardless, the family dynamic is seen as valid.

    Godzilla finally has even footing with his colleague Kong whose 1933 film(35 cent ticket, took time with no TV & Internet) put him INSIDE our soul. Minus one is the Godzilla more than a monster movie soul saving turn we need today as King Kong was needed back then ❤. Think about what happen after WWII, we rebuilt it instead of enslave it as the United States could have. Minus one is to prevent WWIII esp. internationally(quicker with TV and Internet) because with Nukes there will be nothing to rebuild 🎉 ? Kjojig

    Godzilla has been a lot of things so what's so wrong with the new films being more escapism and Godzilla being a more heroic figure and its hardly the first time either in Godzilla history.
    Godzilla final wars is more escapist,Godzilla vs megalon,Godzilla vs mechagodzilla are all more escapist in their approach to godzilla.
    Godzilla had served many roles as both hero and villian and the legendary Godzilla had been true to godzilla legacy in its own way.
    Minus one is great but it coexists as two sides of the same coin as the monsterverse Godzilla who's going for a more lighthearted and fun route without Godzilla.
    Basically godzilla can fit into more then one box rather then just be a villian or a hero. He's a extremely versatile character in that way.

    I wished they did a diffrent ending. They shouldve killed the woman. And let the guy kill himself to defeat godzilla. And we see them both in white backround. I was kinda disappointed we got a happy ending because theirs no way she survived those debris from godzillas nuke. And the guy using an ejector seat takes away from his main job from the beginning of him being afraid of being a kamikaze pilot.
