You and I both brother. What a time to be alive. 36 years old, and finally now I don't feel so weird and nerdy. My whole gaming room has thousands of dollars of Godzilla figures and I just sit in there proud. I even named my 8 year old son Kaiju.
What was your son’s name before you renamed him? Why did you wait until he was 8 years old?
@@shawnmyst688Bruh 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@shawnmyst688 i didnt rename him. I named him Ronin (first name) Kaiju (middle name) at birth. I been a Godzilla fanatic since I was a kid. And his name suits him too. Hes a monster
@@lxbeeotchxlthat’s so cute
Bro your son is gonna get bullied 😭
This past Saturday I got a little choked up wishing I could have seen Minus One with my father. He passed away almost 2 years ago and is a big WWII buff, this would have been right up his alley.
My dad has been gone for almost twenty years but wished he could have seen this. He fought in WWII; it makes me sad that hardly any of those vets are alive to see this film. Its compassionate portrayal of PTSD is amazing.
Money is tight with me right now but I spend the 15 bucks to watch it yesterday. This was the first Godzilla film I watched in the theaters and I will say this is the best movie in its genre.
Every pop culture and franchise from Japan such as Godzilla, Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Dragon Ball and other animes, Ninjas & Samurais that I've grown up with since childhood when I look back on has modivated me to go to Japan and I hope I go there for once in a lifetime.
The majority of older movies are way better than movies nowadays from Hollywood. I'm proud that a revamp of the original Godzilla they went above and beyond. Toho Corp best Godzillas ever
One of the best movies I have ever seen. Not only the best Godzilla films. One of the best films. Period. Watched it 3 times in the cinema.
Brother man you got the same thoughts racing through your head like I do about this movie…. This is one of those movies you just don’t forget
As someone who has Godzilla as their favorite fictional character and the most important franchise of my life, seeing all of the hype around Minus One is so satisfying. I’ve seen the entire film thrice, and it just kept getting better and better with every watch.
IM GOING TO SEE THIS MOVIE FOR THE THIRD TIME THIS WEEKEND AND SO FAR I'VE SEEN SOME OF THE SAME PEOPLE IN THE THEATER THE SECOND TIME I WENT
this is one of the best movies i have ever seen. i had tears in my eyes during some scenes
This movie really hit home to me and moved me, the story was amazing first movie that made me cry and I'm not afraid to admit that
Ngl this movie made me tear up and I haven't had that happen since I was a child
You hit the mark with this one. As much as I loved the Lion King, Minus One took its spot as my #1 favorite movie of all time
This Thursday will be my 4th time seeing this movie. I will have no regrets once it's no longer in theaters. GODZILLA FOREVER!!❤
One of the most powerful segments in the movie was the lead up to Godzilla's atomic breath blast and how the anticipation of what was going to happen, along with the music, then the people just standing in shock and awe and finally starting to runnwhen they realize what's coming. Then the ray comes, then the explosion and repercussion of the blast along with the heartbreaking view of the woman pushing the guy into the alley to save him. Knowing what he is going to lose. And after seeing all Godzilla has done and losing his girl, he mirrors Godzilla's roar by letting out his own towards Godzilla. I was shaking because of the devastation and the loss of life.
this was my first ever Godzilla and this was phenomenal. this is one of the best movies i have ever seen. im with you danny
Yes sir! I'm 45 yrs old, I still remember my aunt first showing me Godzilla when I was about 8 yrs old lol and I've was hooked ever since. I took her to see Minus one and the evolution of the Gman is insane. Best movie of the year by far. She didn't even know about this movie she thought I was taking her to The New Empire lol. Love it
I went back again to see it for a second time this weekend with my sister’s family, and they all really enjoyed it too.
I think I’ve decided that for my 50th birthday (which is still really far away, I’ll note), I’m going to save enough travel to Japan to soften the blow of getting old, and stay at the Godzilla hotel, check out that giant Gundam replica, go to Akihabara, check out the Godzilla ride, and go to Universal Japan (theirs seems so much cooler).
Please be sure to visit Hibiya Godzilla Square where the Toho headquarters and the Godzilla statue are (not big though). The square is near the Yurakucho station where Godzilla took a bite out of a train.
Make sure you go to the Peace Museum in Fukuoka so you can see the Shinden fighter (replica) that was used in the movie. If you look at the position of the aircraft in the museum and in the film, it leads you to believe they shot the hangar scenes in the actual museum using backdrops or green screen.
You're going to Japan of all places to soften the blow of old age? They're so old the median age next year is 50
@pheunithpsychic-watertype That’s what he means; by going to Japan where they approach life better in most ways, it will rub off and ease his aging.
100% agree. Couldn’t stop thinking about it. Had to hound my mates to go see it as it needs to be seen in cinemas to be properly experienced and when they finally saw it they were so grateful that I persisted!
Every second of this move matters. Every scene matters. Every frame matters. Every line matters. Every moment of silence matters.
Same feelings, I would have never expected a monster movie to actually have a message and to make me feel something and reflect on things. This film is a breath of fresh air
My head is spinning at the reaction to this film. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was deeply moved by this movie. It was so profound on so many levels, and they really got it right.
I feel the same way, I like the movie even more each time I see it. I've seen it five times now and I'll probably see it a sixth. The visuals, the score, the casting and characters it all just works so well. It's a film that needs, and deserves to be seen on the big screen. I loved Shin Godzilla, but the characters and story is much more engaging with Godzilla Minus One.
Godzilla is the Jackie Chan of movie monsters. Everyone universally like Godzilla.
Amen. It’s a special movie. I remember seeing Star Wars and Jaws as a kid and this gives me the same feeling. Oppenheimer and Godzilla M1 are my 2 top films for the year. GM1 comes out in top due to the hopeful messaging.
Bro. I too am obsessed with this film. This is one of my favorite film experiences ever, and watching it made me a better man.
Everything you said I completely agree with. Godzilla Minus One wasn't a movie, it was an experience. This was easily one of the best pictures I saw in my lifetime. I went with my brother who was barely a Godzilla Fan and he literally has the same opinion about this one. If possible, highly recommend seeing this in a 4DX Theater. It literally felt like you were on the boat with the men facing off with Godzilla.
This movie DESERVES to make 1 Billion. Everything from the story, pacing, tones, acting, characters are master class scale. Fun Fact. Speaking of Sentai, Gokai Blue was one of the main characters in Minus One
you know. It's not just one of the best films of the year. It's one of the best films of the past DECADE. True story
Felt like a kid again watching this.... Great Movie
@GEEKDOM I took your advice and invited my wife to join me to see Godzilla minus one… OMG fantastic film it did resonate with me deeply and it was a Cinematic masterpiece!!! GOJIRA!!!
Saw it again last night holy fuck that last battle sequence 😢🎉
This movie was fantastic and all of your coverage was awesome thank you GEEKDOM
Really hope this film at least get one Oscar
I just went and saw this because of you and the reviews. Amazing 9/10
You are definitely not Geekdom. I saw this movie this past Sunday and you have no idea how much it meant to me to see and I grew during the Heisei Era. 90s baby here 💪🏼💪🏼 born in '93. This movie was absolutely phenomenal and the actors and actresses were so amazing!!!!! Don't get me wrong Monsterverse is its own greatness, but Toho... The creator of the King of the Monsters, they Truly know how to make a Godzilla movie and they more than hit home with this one! I'm with you here! Gave it 10/10 5/5 stars period absolutely wonderful 🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
The opposite happened to me. I've told every single one of my friends to go see the movie. If you see one movie this year, make it this one. Not ONE has gone to see it. It's sickening.
Please , if you didn't watched it yet, go watch it.
loved the passion with which you spoke for this movie. I hope it releases in India.
I promise you are not alone. I have been a movie fanatic since being a kid in the late 70s. I have seen Minus One 4 times in theaters. It is certainly in the upper echelon of best films in motion picture history.
I'm so grateful that the G man actually made a brilliant movie. Alien, Star Wars, Indiana Jones was ruined by Hollywood but Godzilla still standing tall !!
Hollywood didn't ruin Godzilla especially the monsterverse
Man!!! I wholeheartedly agree with you!!!!! This movie needed to be made because of it's humanity and needs to exist to give Hollywood a big SLAP ✋🏽 in the face!!!!!
The professor was great! Great ending too!
Godzilla was the first character i ever said i was when i was a child in the 90s my dad put me on him and ever since then i always loved him ...in memory of my dad i keep Godzilla close to me and my first and only tattoo will be him .... Godzilla will always be apart of me for i am him...thank you father for being a stand up man and for introducing me to this divine character ...rest in peace one love 🖤🔥🐲🔥🐉✊🏿
Flawless CGI! Character development! A concret story line that actually makes you care! After having your military dismantled, how do you fight a monster from Hell? Take the monster away & it's still a great film!! Made in Japan!
I ❤ this Godzilla movie. Wonderful movie with human soul in it. 😊
I've lost all faith with American Hollywood I'm all for foreign films now because clearly they know what the public wants and how to do a film justice instead of pushing a message😂 this movie was amazing
Absolutely. Definitely one that helps therapeutically for the mental and emotional aspects. Everyone should watch it. I realized how I connect so well with the entire movie and every character. Not taking anything away from the graphics and what have you; but It's the message that stands out to me.
Godzilla healing was next level so good
Ok can I say and it’s gonna sound silly. If it wasn’t for Godzilla we wouldn’t have Rugrarts with Reptar. I am very Happy for Godzilla Minus One and I hoped it will makes billions.
I put this next to the original movie, love watching your videos you did for minus one. I injoyed this movie what I watch this year for 2023. Yeah this movie needs to win best picture.
Only award godzilla won was in MTV movie awards back in the 90s. Hope he wins
Only reason it doesn’t get 1 billion is due to the limited release. And yet, it’s still doing so well!
Imma say it, Godzilla Minus One is an actual perfect film.
The only 1 movie that can dominate hollywood at the box office is a Japanese Godzilla movie well written. What else can beat that in hollywood today? Nothing today in Hollywood can beat Godzilla Minus One.
Maybe we still have Godzilla X on the new empire
I’m a life long (39) diehard Godzilla fan. This movie and the response from the whole world validates my obsession with Godzilla. I’m in tears just tying this
Deserves best picture 100%, I saw it and I agree
Im so happy theres so many people who feel the same way about this movie that I do. I wouldve been fine if I was the only one but its a reminder that we all regardless of life circumstances are going thru the same things together
The "governments" and corporate governments will ALWAYS try to divide us.
At the end of the day ALL we really have is each other.
No cavalry coming, it's just us and you know what?
WE got this.
Powerful message.😢👏💯🔥🔥🔥
This movie was so good, I almost forgot I was reading the entire time!
Also, I'll add this: Hollywood is in its rude awakening. Just look at the strikes. That's a small detail. America is so caught up in its damn politics that they don't care about art and life. Taking God out of school, LGBTABCDEFG+, elections, racism, inflation, just to name a few. We have to live through all this and have no escape in a media that we love. Movies. It all boils down to money.
I agree with everything except the God part. We shouldn't be forcing religion down people's throats in public schools. Do that junk in private schools if you want but without tax dollars.
Definitely up for debate as greatest movie ever made!!!! Outstanding story
Godzilla Minus One is a perfect sequel to Oppenheimer. It got some Jaws, Dunkirk, Jurassic Park in it, letting men be men, women be women, showing tradition and parenthood. To me this film felt something like Christopher Nolan and James Cameron would have pulled off. I have been a Godzilla-fan since I was 8, and this movie is a dream come true. The music-score is amazing! I loved everything about this movie, perfectly done and executed! Saw the movie a 2. time last night and I loved it even more.
I agree with you about the Minus One Phenomenon, I've never promoted a movie to my friends, coworkers, family like this one. Ever. I've never TH-camb a review of any movie like this one. Idk how to explain it but this movie stays "cooking" days after you see it. Wild.
Love your videos. Thanks for posting them. Nice to know there are so many of us out there having similar reactions to it.
I fn love these videos. I love how much this beautifully made movie hit you. This is vulnerability and pure emotion and I am here for it
bro i’m with you i love this movie! and yes it is the best movie of the year!
And the director said he wishes the budget was 15m
The super mario movie an godzilla movie are my favorite movies of this year
Just saw in an Okinawa Theater and even without understanding I was tearing up
WE NEED MORE STORIES THAT ARE HAPPY FOR HUMANITIES EXISTENCE AND AREN'T BORING LIKE THIS!! I'M SO HAPPY
I would love to know what this movie brings with you on a personal level, to see the enjoyment you have for this and how much it resonates with you is just so fantastic!
I'm here for all the goji love.
Love your love for Godzilla minus one also this is the best Godzilla movie ❤❤❤ those eyes are really Scary
I admit I haven’t seen Godzilla Minus One yet but literally everyday I get online whether it be twitter or ig etc somebody new is talking about it. But for The Geekdom101 to be this moved by the film I gotta check it out. I prolly will today
I really thought Everything, Everywhere, All at Once was gonna be the Back to the Future of our age and the best movie ten years backwards and ten years forward, but GD this might have me needing to rethink that. It REALLY would be a tough discussion fighting for either.
All love, yes watch more foreign films. I grew up watching martial arts movies, in college I found out about Akira Kurosawa and started a journey into Samurai films and have since expanded to include a plethora of films from Japan and South Korea. Do not let subtitles discourage you from good movies. 8 1/2, City of God, Memories of Murder, Motorcycle Diaries, Park Chan Wook’s Vengeance trilogy, Rec, The Seventh Seal, The Wailing, Battle Royale, Cure, Tokyo Story, Tampopo, I could go on and on
With only a $15 million dollar budget movie was absolutely great..
I can't wait for Godzilla Plus One. I hope he brings Anguirus. 😂
YES MORE GODZILLA CONTENT
I agree I don't know why there's so much dividers in the fan community
Amazing movie 10/10
We’re here for you bud, I lost my uncle Friday and I’m just so angry at the world despite my rational mind knowing it’s no one’s fault, just human error I can’t hide just how sick I am of life constantly humbling me over and over, but I’m trying my best to just stay quiet rather than outwardly show the pain my dad and I feel right now. For some context for the last three years my dad, two of his sisters and I had been caring for my uncle who suffered from kidney failure due to complications from diabetes. For three long years we struggled through doctors appointments, dialysis, and surgeries all so that he could have a chance at a normal life again. Well recently he had a dialysis appointment and he noted that the nurse was not the usual one and they set him up quicker than usual, then this past Thursday he went into a coma and the doctors had explained that he had gone into septic shock from an infection that had been spread through all his organs through the dialysis. He passed away on Friday and my dad is shattered because he was his younger brother, I know I’ll get past this someday but it’s ok for you to feel your emotions especially if you’re going through a tough time
Thank you.Really.Thank you.
Seeing that Geekdom post video about Godzilla Minus One 3-4 times.. u know this is really fucking good movie yooo..
Not just the movie, but the soundtrack is also so good, it demands a relisten.
You just must love it with how many vids you made on it
I need a sequel to this
Watched it twice….fell asleep on it twice… 10/10 😂😂
Dragon Ball, Super Sentai/Power Rangers and other japanese franchises are very well known from Japan, but GODZILLA is the OG of Japan. GODZILLA is the Biggest and main Mascot of Japan, there's no denying that.
Planning to see GM1 again. It's so good that even purest James (Cinemassacre) praised it. That's telling ya something.
Ironic you bring up The Dark Knight 2008, this was the 1st new movie I've seen in cinema since Dark Knight. My father's 1st few experiences was Godzilla german subtitled and english dubbed in Nuremberg Germany in 1961 during Cold War. Because Hollywood sucks so hard, we've not gone to cinema in years, i told him if this is among the last of your cinematic experiences, it would be poetic. Halfway through he leaned over and said this is not the Godzilla i expected. He agreed it was a masterpiece.
I was so glad when I heard a new Godzilla was coming out. I was in the mood for a good monster movie and it being from Japan, I was confident it would be free of THE MESSAGE. Imagine my delight, it also had a great moving human story that almost had me in tears. I saw it twice and can't wait to buy the DVD.
Watched in Japan theater last Dec and going today again .. a mix of drama, history, human feeling on impact of what a War is on us, destruction, defeat and anger .. life is something we value after we see a love one lost.
Don't think I'll ever forget the boat chase scene. So good! His eyes tho! XD
Geekdom tomorrow:
I've made up my mind. This is the Godzilla Minus One channel now.
Easily my 'Best Film' of 2023. I went into "G Minus One" expecting a B-movie romp (which is fine), but it absolutely blew me away from an emotional standpoint like few movies ever have. And it wasn't just one are the film excelled, but every cinematic metric available. I've already purchased the haunting musical score and patiently await the 4K blu-ray release.
Damn geekdom can't stop talking about this movie. And neither can I hahahaha
I feel ya’ man! This is a masterpiece! I saw it three times in theaters including minus color… I cried each time! It’s been 2 months and I think about this movie every day. It’s a top 3 ALL TIME for me!
If I ever get a tattoo it's going to be of godzilla. The problem is I don't know which design I would like to get, but the minus one design is top 3 on the list.
Amen brother. Bless you
Dude you're definitely not the only one. I dragged a friend of mine to see it, he is not a godzilla or kaiju fan whatsoever and was expecting to be bored, but no. He cried twice and turned to me when it was over to say "This movie was SICK. Thank you for bringing me to see this." Yes, it was better than Oppenheimer. I said it.
Noriko is a S tier love interest that belongs alongside Adrian from Rocky.
The very first Godzilla film that I saw when I was a kid (on TV) was 1956’s GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS!, and I watched it while building the Aurora Godzilla model kit. This was around 1971. I’m glad that this was my first Godzilla film as opposed to one of the many sequels because I got to experience the initial horror of it all from square-one, before it all got silly. Therefore, I understood the historical backbone of the film from the perspective of my Dad who fought in WWII. GODZILLA: MINUS ONE brought me right back to those roots, strengthening my core love of the entire concept of monster-as-metaphor, the consequential spirit of the beast that doesn’t forgive.
On a side note, I’ve recently built that classic Aurora (re-issue) Godzilla model kit recently for the third time in my life, and it’s never looked better!
Off topic...I could be trippin but to me Godzilla face...in this pick looks like the moon from Majoras Mask. But in all seriousness this was an outstanding movie
