Dr. Perlmutter is so smart. I applaud him for having the spine to go on tv and debate four people who clearly are attacking his work. He responds so confidently and calmly.
I rarely ever comment on public videos. But I must say, shame on every single one of these anchors for being so blatantly disrespectful, and to a highly respected and accomplished doctor. I wonder what special interest paid for them to all try to make him look so bad. All of the questions were loaded and he rose above every single one. This man is only trying to help the public, yet people ignorantly can't stop to think critically for a moment. So sad!
Right??? The thing is, if you tell a Cocaine Addict to cut back on their Coke intake, they will literally punch you in the face (I recently found this out) Sugar & carbs in general are far more addictive than even Cocaine and heroin so people do start to get pretty twitchy when you tell them they gotta ditch the fix.
These people are such d*ckheads. Dr. Perlmutter was my neurologist back in 1997. I was 12 years old and in a wheelchair being told by many physicians that I would never walk again. He put me on a treatment plan, and within a weeks time, I was walking again. I have so much respect for this man. I ran into him 20 years later in the Apple store in Naples where we live and he remembered me and my mother. I had no clue he had become so well known or that he even had this book out. He’s my hero and I hope his message falls upon the right ears to help people in need!
Totally agree. These are supposed to be educated people, who clearly will not change their opinions. I gave up sugar years ago and never looked back. Like he said, the sugar industry has nothing to gain by admitting this. Cigarette's, Johnson and Johnson, Round-up, where will it end. Ultimately, I have no interest in changing anyone's opinion. The evidence is out there for all to see for themselves.
I love Dr. David Perlmutter ❤️, I’m Hispanic and I grew up eating 🍽 rice, bread, beans, tortilla, lots of sugar and very little veggies ☹️, I read he’s book and it was a life changing, I’ve lost 40 pounds, I have run 5k, 10k and 15k. I have removed sugar from my life, lower lots of carbs, (I don’t eat any kind of bread 🥖) and I’m eating healthy fats, all the ones that I avoid after having my kids, which I thought those fats, like butter were the reason I gained so much weight (now I enjoy all those good fats) Thanks to Dr. Perlmutter and many others sources that I determined my self to learn from, not only I lost fat from my body but I gained a better life, and hoping also change my kids and husband health for better.
Hello madam. I hope you are doing good. I am diagnosed Prediabetese. Now I want to change my life style. I eat all the foods which is given in the book not to eat. I am from Pakistan. We mostly eat rice and wheat. I want to get rid off these foods. I saw your comment that u quit eating these food. Tell me how to start.I should be thankful if you would help me
"With all due respect, most people are down on what they are not up on" -Dr. Perlmutter I think he was referring to the CBS staff as well. For individuals who were so uneducated about his book, they had a lot of pushback. I'm all for presenting the opposing arguments so he can respond, but the tone taken was really unprofessional for an unbiased news source. I expect more from you CBS. This is an incredibly serious issue.
This was not a case of these un biased anchors being uneducated, this was a case of paid influencers attempting to socially engineer a stop to this information successfully making it into the hivemind. Please realized the implications of a Smith-Mundt Act repealed under a Demopublican administration and never reinstated by a Republicrat administration.
I would not have expected anything different from the Lame Stream Lying Media - not being paid to bring forth honest information - only being paid to be puppets.
I was amazed to see how these four were able to question him as if they had any scientific or medical educational background on this. The woman on the far left of the screen had this look of disgust on her face. It's amazing and very sad to see these buffoons interrogate him the way they did. He knew he would be canceled or filtered out if he showed any signs of irritation.
Putting up the comment from the sugar industry before evening starting the interview was a giveaway for how this was going to go. Perlmutter was not thrown off by that and got his message across brilliantly.
It should also be remembered that Dr. Perlmutter's father, Dr. Irwin Perlmutter, was Professor Emeritus of Neurosurgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and served as Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy for four years in WWII in the South Pacific. He died from Alzheimer's disease. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Dr. David Perlmutter is doing some very important research and work.
Dr David Perlmutter, what a gentleman. Dr David Perlmutter, a neurologist that cares more about helping the public, than financially pleasing himself...
I will forever remember how these anchors behaved soooooo badly and made me cringe, and the way the Doctor handled himself with such grace and respect for everyone.
I hate how everything is a sound bite these days. This message is so important to hear and act on early in life, because the latency on this disease is long. Thanks for your work in this area Doctor, including persevering through this ridiculous “interview.”
I love how people who know nothing about cutting edge neuro-science have such strong opinions about the subject. The fact is, the best research on the matter DOES show in fact that simple carbs and gluten have a very detrimental effect on the brain. It sucks but it's true. How much carb intake you can handle without damage pends on your genetic propensity. Get mad, kick and scream but thems the facts.
This isn't journalism, it's 4 actors, bought and paid for to stick to a script. The objective: to maintain and grow a consumer base for sponsors of the show, corporations and big pharma.
My schizophrenia symptoms got cut in half when I went meat only. I'm talking to family members I haven't talked to in 20 years now. Try and convince me grains are good for me now.
I am disappointed in the hosts here. For shame, to gang up on a guest. I just started reading his book today and saw this tonight. Thank you Dr. P! You were graceful, articulate and eloquent.
Well, his brain is a clear indication that grain is bad. I've never seen anyone answer so clearly and constructively all the questions that were thrown at him. I've already ordered the book and I'm cutting down my grain intake.
Okay, I seem to be late in the game at reviewing this video b/c most posts I see are 3 years ago, but cheers to all of you who defended the way Dr. Perlmutter handled these media people. I agree that he was very professional and handled the situation including giving evidence of his proposal. You know, the more I read about the negative effects of sugar and actually see the physical effects, the more I'm convinced that sugar kills (never mind the "conspiracy" theories I full heartedly agree with as truth).
Now I remember why I stopped watching this show! Gayle King is rude and overly opinionated for a journalist. Jeez, let the guy talk, and give him basic respect as a human. We can listen and form our own opinion - but only if we get to listen to him speak! I think this guy is right about sugar, gluten and the carbs that come with them.
Geez the way they had all these "reputable" professionals and agencies to go against his advice. The way they kept interrupting him. The way they kept dismissing him. Clearly......they weren't really interested in his ideas. I appreciate people like him who are passionate about drawing attention to diet and lifestyle links to preventing disease. Most conventional doctors I've dealt with care NOTHING about preventing disease. They don't care about signs you're heading in the wrong direction. They only care when you're too far gone or over a certain level on a blood test.
I bet one day these hosts will look back on this attack of this knowledgeable doctor and regret 100% of their stupid comments! It was 4 of them attacking him and he still won the discussion! I’m embarrassed for them! Honestly they sound so uneducated about health! Almost everyone knows what he said is true!
CBS This Morning: perhaps you could invite Nina Teicholz, whose name you might recall from her NPR days. Her comprehensive research and findings are in line with what Dr. Perlmutter advocates. The standard American diet is not doing any of us any favors.
I can't believe you were so rude to your guest. It's almost like you were prepared to disagree to anything he said before he got there. Dr. Perlmutter is an expert on brain health. If you believe in everything in moderation that is your choice. Sugar is truly more addictive than heroin. Would you take heroin in moderation? Of course the best of us do indulge in sugar now and then. It doesn't make it healthy. The video you showed to dispute him was prepared by the sugar industry.
ohmygod. I never comment but I literally could not stand how they kept disrupting him and not letting him say his piece. He has done years of research and its frustrating that they are essentially dismissing him at every turn
He possesses a gentle, peaceful quality about him (especially in that most doctors do not have easy lifestyles) -- which to me is usually a sign of good health; i.e. he practices what he preaches and the visual results plus his overall deportment validate his claims. Grains break down into simple sugars which trigger inflammation. Inflammation is a precursor to a good many diseases not the least of which is cancer. Also consider Candida, Leaky Gut Syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (and the long list of ramifications of each), etc. Do your homework like he has done. 1/2019

Those anchors were disgraceful. Thank you Dr. Perelmutter for standing your ground above the gaggle of naysayers, who only think they know what they're talking about, and speaking the truth of science. Let Them have their truffle pasta and their heart attacks (can't believe she said it like that was a good thing!!) we'll take your wisdom to better brain health.
Dr. Pearlmutter's level of character, competency, and knowledge is so much higher than CBS morning's that its painful to watch. You are a class act Dr. Pearlmutter!
Watch the Dr. At :57. I can imagine what he is thinking, yet he is respectful in his answers without being a bully right back to these bullies. It is quite sad, but funny at the same time, how they show their ignorance. No amount of makeup they wear will cover poor internal health for long.
Keep going, Dr. Perlmutter! People are listening and the grain industry is shaking in their boots! More power to you, Dr. William Davis, Dr. Berg, Dr Sebi (rip), Dr. Kelly Ann Petruccio and to the mighty Truth. Guys, if u wanna eat sugar, eat FRUIT. C'mon it's already in a nice package and everything. 😅 U don't have to be keto, u can be paleo based. Starches and grains are for stiiffening your shirts not your delicate body tissues. 😆✌🌱☉💗
I'm not one to ever go to doctors a lot... Which obviously means that I haven't given a few issues a lot of attention. For instance insomnia and migraines, that I struggle with chronically. So last year, when I actually visited a doctor because I was having "problems with my gut" (quite ironically, come to think of it...) - I casually mentioned to him that I have always struggled with migraines and insomnia... After that I have visited a few doctors and specialists, but something that stood out to me was that no one was really interested in helping me solve my problems and yet... they prescribed to me a truck load of anti-depressants, anxiety meds and even bi-polar meds with the intention to prevent migraines and help me sleep... I found it quite strange, seeing that no-one diagnosed me with any of those conditions. I tried a few tablets of each and it made me feel worse than ever and even reduced my sleep. I have now finally reached a point where I cant help but question doctors that don't ask me about my lifestyle choices and my diet and just directly prescribe some meds... ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS ANTI-DEPS! Two years ago, I got the flu. It triggered migraines too. I took so many pills, I think it inflammed my stomach (which I now wonder if it actually came down to having my gut inflammed or unhappy). I had terrible heart burn and couldnt get or keep food in my stomach. I had no bowel movements and I kept on throwing up everything that I tried to eat. I took more pills. I was feeling worse and worse. I didn't go to a doctor though hahaha (like I said, I don't usually visit a doctor for just "anything"). I decided to add an extensive amount of fiber to my diet, to see if that will help AND THAT DID THE TRICK! I was amazed. After three weeks of meds and struggling, all I needed was some oats and dates etc etc etc haha. I was thinking about that a lot recently and decided to start looking at my food as medicine. I am listening to a lot of videos and reading a lot and I have to say... I take someone like Dr David much more serious as a Doctor, than the GPs, neurologists, brain surgeons, etc, that I visited since last year. I'm starting to realise what a big difference lifestyle changes will make and how much sugar I have actually been eating... I've started eating better a week ago and I can only thank people like Dr David, for the research that he has done and that he isn't afraid to make "shocking claims or points or facts" (however people choose to look at it..). To me, it all makes so much more sense now.
His shiny eyes testify, that his food choices and suggestions work. He has a brilliant mind too. His behavior, talk and appearance should be enough, to know he is right!
Why can't they let the doctor speak and why have someone on your show just to disagree with him when you have no idea what you're talking about!!! I completely agree with the doctor. Anti inflammatory is key!!!
I feel that though Dr Pulmutter spoke eloquently and succinctly, there was no option to truly have someone to be on his thought waves, especially when at the end, one of the interviewers ended the it "exercise is key" in more of a dismissal of his thoughts as opposed to in conjunction. What a pity.
Someone just gave me the book so I thought I’d check out the videos he’s done. I agree, the anchors displayed appalling behavior and disrespect toward this New York Times best selling author and physician. I see the same thing in their words that I see from obese people I try to reason with. When people don’t want to change how they eat and don’t want to believe their choices have consequences, this is how they behave.
Research does NOT support eating sugar in ANY amount. In fact, all sweets are bad but sugar is particularly bad. But that's the sugar association's bread and butter so OF COURSE they are going to say sugar is okay.
Nutrition is so complex and we're all different. Blood samples, sometimes just don't cut it. At what point will AI become a tool for tailored made nutrition?
Inconvenient truth is exactly right. Dr. P knows what he is talking about but it seems to go in one ear and out the other. I think Gayle plans to keep on eating that sugar. :)
It's pretty obvious that all of these interviewers are very much addicted to their pastries and pasta and can't wait for this interview to be over so they can go to the break room and eat cookies and donuts like ASAP 😆
I've watched this interview before and it is sad to watch how close-minded and adversarial the hosts were to Dr. Perlmutter. They did a huge disservice to their viewers. The rude and combative hosts might want to actually read the book.
Can Gayle King stop interrupting him and trying to finish his sentences for him, he's the expert here, not her.... she outright admitted her breakfast was donuts.
This absolutely WAS not an interview to really learn from him!!! They wanted to make sure they poked him af much as they could and try to tear down what he was saying!!! The Dr did a great job at making his points and proving to be able to not be flustered by their bias!!!
@@JW-xl4pf Says who? You? I'm sorry I didn't know you were a respected Physician, with over 20 years of experience and credictials. Who you think I'm going to listen to? Carbs are making people fat, there is overwhelming evidence to support that. Wake up.
I cannot believe how awful the hosts were to the guest. If they refused to let him answer and not attack him, why did they invite him on the show? Needless to say, I won't watch CBS Mornings again. If you invite someone to speak, shut up and let them speak.
These host are idiots. His response to sugar with the same response to tobacco had me giggling. Neurological conditions of any can all benefit his advice. I'm an epileptic diagnosed 7 years ago. I take no medications, eat healthy fats, foods that are key to healthy brain health, keep sugar intake low, and try to keep active. You are what you eat, especially when you have a serious condition. Glad he could share his advice even when surrounded by corporate shills.
I still got my salmon in canned in a can. Im afraid to eat it, I dont like shel fish, and most fish except tuna, salmon, and macakreel. Those are foods that are good for the brain though.
He did a great job answering the questions. The anchors ask him challenging questions to get those answers out of him. I don’t think they are personally skeptical of his claims.
Dr. Perlmutter is so smart. I applaud him for having the spine to go on tv and debate four people who clearly are attacking his work. He responds so confidently and calmly.

He is a great doctor.
His shiny eyes testify, that his food choices and suggestions work. He has a brilliant mind too. His behavior, talk and appearance should be enough, to know he is right!
those moderators are incredibly rude
Why can't they let the doctor speak and why have someone on your show just to disagree with him when you have no idea what you're talking about!!! I completely agree with the doctor. Anti inflammatory is key!!!
Truth is not a priority on the agenda of corporate media.
Permutter was in a den of wolves here, but he handled himself well.
Rude .....presenters who are not at the same intellectual level as this Doctor he absolutely talks sense ❤
Go, Dr Perlmutter! 👍 🎉❤
This is so true .. Dr Eric and Dr Axe Agree ... sugar and grain is bad for your grain
Absolutely true!
Research does NOT support eating sugar in ANY amount. In fact, all sweets are bad but sugar is particularly bad. But that's the sugar association's bread and butter so OF COURSE they are going to say sugar is okay.
Nice comeback on the Alzheimer’s society being supported by drug companies. Loved that calm and precise comeback! Mic drop…. Lol
The reason why there’re so much interruptions by the hosts? Ignorance!
Wow, they are super rude with him! Guess they are not wanting to hear about sugar!
Nutrition is so complex and we're all different. Blood samples, sometimes just don't cut it. At what point will AI become a tool for tailored made nutrition?
Idiots - Exercise is key. No. Getting rid of sugar and carbs is key.
ROCKSTAR! He put himself out there and still kept to his belief...of which is correct. I see it daily.
Carbs lead to more carbs.
4:35 Brillant comedy!
Truffle pasta.....just like all regular Americans
I've watched this interview before and it is sad to watch how close-minded and adversarial the hosts were to Dr. Perlmutter. They did a huge disservice to their viewers. The rude and combative hosts might want to actually read the book.
I agree with the doctor. He is a intelligent man. People just don't like to be told what to eat or not eat... What to do or not do in general.
Respect to Dr David. It was an interview or interrogation?
Thank you for your time
Can Gayle King stop interrupting him and trying to finish his sentences for him, he's the expert here, not her.... she outright admitted her breakfast was donuts.
Dr Perlmutter is a cool guy. I like his style. He is confident in these clueless anchors confusion.
This absolutely WAS not an interview to really learn from him!!! They wanted to make sure they poked him af much as they could and try to tear down what he was saying!!! The Dr did a great job at making his points and proving to be able to not be flustered by their bias!!!
Wow they’re not biased at all...
Amazing book!
GIVE HIM A NOBEL PEACE PRIZE FOR DOING AND SAYING WHAT IS RIGHT AGAINST GREAT RIDICULE. AMEN
Dr Perlmutter is a modern-day Galileo! 👍 👏🎉❤
I support High Fat/Low Carb!
Cinderella Man that’s stupid
@@JW-xl4pf Says who? You? I'm sorry I didn't know you were a respected Physician, with over 20 years of experience and credictials. Who you think I'm going to listen to? Carbs are making people fat, there is overwhelming evidence to support that. Wake up.
Cinderella Man where is the evidence?
@@Nicholas-Michael He is not a respected physician and there is zero evidence for any of his claims.
@@Nicholas-Michael fat people dont tolerance other people'
Cut out junk food n u will live healthier
I cannot believe how awful the hosts were to the guest. If they refused to let him answer and not attack him, why did they invite him on the show? Needless to say, I won't watch CBS Mornings again. If you invite someone to speak, shut up and let them speak.
Someone seems to want to defend what she does not understand.
That was really crappy of Gail. Her and those anchors should be ashamed of themselves. That was aggravating to watch
Why a scholar debating with these fools
"I'm on the sugar side... " lol
Thumbs up 👍 for the doctor! Thumbs down for those unprofessional people to say the least 👎
Talk about biased journalism. Sheesh! They brought the negativity and opposing views before the man hit the stage. Good job doc!
I don’t think they are personally skeptical of his claims.
food is key
