The conversations here really highlight how special and great the 80's teams and players were. Ewing, Barkley, Malone, Stocktan, Olajawon, and even Jordan didn't become serious championship caliber players until the Celtics and Lakers in particular fizzled out. The Bulls were barely finishing third or fourth in the Central back then. But before Wade, there was NO GUARD 6'4 and under who combined scoring, passing, defense, and athletic ability like Moncrief!

Sidney was capable of scoring 25 PPG and 6-7 dimes a night. Instead, he was more in that 21 PPG 5 dimes a night level.
So for me, Sidney was like a precursor ACTUALLY to a D Wade. In terms of two way ability, athletic ability, and passing ability as a package. Wade added more dominant scoring AND was even more athletic than Sidney. But before Wade, there was NO GUARD 6'4 and under who combined scoring, passing, defense, and athletic ability like Moncrief!
I have no idea how the universe didn't implode when Rodman joined the military-style Spurs...
And Sean Elliot joining the bad boys 🤣
It got crazy there for several bits, but as soon as McHale starts speaking, everyone gets quite.
Love their stories
28:22 when all my remaining brain cells are trying to function
C Webb said the Davis boys were lunch meat.
jtreynol yeah they were bangers but Antonio absolutely had skills and got to show them later in Toronto. Dale on the other hand was just a straight up goon 🤣
Was it the 04 Pacers? The team that got into the Malice in the Palace..they could have won a chip. Artest, Jermaine O’Neal, Stephen Jackson, Reggie Miller...yupppppp
THIS WAS AWESOME!
45:28 Actually Karl Malone is 2nd in all-time NBA scoring.
Lebron gonna shuffle things around.
LeBron took over the 2nd spot upon posting this, and little over a thousand shy to topple Kareem.
Barring injury or abrupt retirement, LeBron could accomplish such on 2022-23 season.
@@OrionOodama done 👍
The C-Webb torture episode.
“Beat us when? In a game?” Lol
the best team always win ... if there are no injuries for key players
Kinda like when yall got your first ring
This is brilliant... thoroughly enjoyed this
oh, and 28:30, when it all breaks down is my favorite part of all the PCs! Steve Smith going "woo-woo" as he's riding the SeaDoo. CW says "get control Earnie!" Earnie says, no I like this.. I've watched it 50x and still laugh until I'm horse! bring this show back, puhhhlease!!!
Damn, I love how C-Webb got heated lol
The 2018 Rockets are on the 2010s best team who didn't win a ring list for sure
Steve Smith's Hawks would be a top 3 team in League Now wit Mutumbo and Blaylock, Corbain but they was just 4,5 in East back then and always got stop by Bulls
Before the break, when McHale was talking about a force in short shorts coming over his soldier, I knew that he must have been talking about Dominique.
Kenny makes the show hyper with his instigating LOL
2004 Kings and 1996 Sonics in my opinion are the best two teams without a title
Agreed
@@vuls81 Also Cwebb is underated...hea never mentioned as one of the alltime greats and they barely ever talk about him now days but his passing for a PF was some of the best ive ever seen
you're thinking 2002 Kings
@@tonyroca279 ya my bad..the year Robert Horry hit that damn shot
Facts. The Sonics ran into the 72-10 Bulls and the Kings got screwed by the refs
That's because back then the average good team was either loaded with hall of famers. Lakers and Celtics. Or they had 2 great players and built around good role players .Rockets, 76ers, Pistons, Trail Blazers And then you had teams with good role players and players that were a allstar a couple times. But, wasn't all stars all the time because the legends had the spot on lock. Mavericks with Derek Harper and Rolando Blackman. The Nuggets with Alex English. The bucks with Sidney Moncrief, the Atlanta Hawks with Wilkins. The Spurs, Warriors. and etc. I can go on forever. I forgot the cavs and the suns . The suns won 50 plus games for 5 years before barkley even got there. I could go on forever naming all the good to all time great teams from the 80s. The NBA will never be as stack as the 80s ever again. So many great teams with great players. Half the so called superstars in todays era would be on Cedric Cornbread Maxwell, Derek Harper, and Alex English level at best if they played in the 80s. They would not be the face of the NBA.
Good points. But thinking klay pg giannis harden wouldnt murder the 80s is crazy
Harden wouldn’t murder nothing but a cheeseburger
If arvydas sabonis had a healthy career with the blazers the history of the NBA from the 90s on would have changed entirely
Notice that everybody screaming each other, but when McHale start talking there's peace in a second and everybody listening? That's respect.
That's because everyone in the room played directly against each other. McHale was from another era & couldn't directly trash talk any of them. That's body language, content, & the ability to connect. Has nothing to do with respect.
@@ModernDayRenaissanceMan Or that guy is a hall of famer, one of the best PF ever, they learned from him, (especially Webber) etc. Btw. 3D played against him, so as the Jet.
This show is so underrated. I wish it was still on. This show shits on all the Nick Wright, Shannon Sharpe garbage shows.
roy tarpley came to greece after he was suspended in the NBA , for six months he destroyed european basketball . He was that good. And after 6 months he knew he didn t have to play so good to be an elite player and he kept on partying and drinking.
Love this show, but it falls short in not reaching back to the wealth of experience and stories the older generation has to offer.
As they age out and pass on,you miss out, permanently of some amazing stories.
Nate Thurmond (Rip) could have told us what it was like to play against Russell,Wilt, and Kareem, for example.
they compared sidney moncrief to demar derozan, and didn't mention sidney's D?
Pause
Holy shit, look up the stats from Mark Aguirre on basketball-reference. Dude was a force.
bring it back!!
Correction, the Pacers did have a team that could win in the 2000's. If not for the "malice at the palace" they definitely would've won
They need the Rushmore guys, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, MJ, Kareem, Kobe, LeBron, Dr. J
Hakeem
17:08 for the Dominique love.
Webber never played in the finals, yes he lost too Lakers in controversial fashion but beating them is still a step away...the Knicks ran into the bulls year after year and then blew it against Huston in game 6 the year Jordan retired...that's the definition of being close.
dagnut 02 Nets gonna beat 02 kings??
@@mashwork6615 sorry bud I don't understand the context of the question?
The referree convicted for gambling days it all. Kings were robbed
@@mashwork6615 The Nets had the better 123 definitely right because Kidd Carter Jefferson but the Kings had the better 45 with Webber Divac. I think it would have been closer then people think. I think the idea that Kings run em off the court maybe a bit hasty. Webber Bibby was NOT Shaq and Kobe...is that fair to say?
@@Eats1987 02 nets didnt have VC. It was kidd kittles RJ martin collins van horn is with them i think
Legit thought my brand new laptop was acting up already. Thank god I read the comments.
Kings teams didn't get that difficult until they got Mike Bibby and got rid of White Chocolate.
Can you upload the Bragging Rights episode?
I believe that football is harder because every playoff is basically a game 7, but Derek Fisher made a great point.
They missed the 92-93 Suns
Also the blazers team that lost to the lakers.
True but I think Houston, utah where better teams
The 90s Suns and Blazers were both mentioned
Houston was just better while Jordan was playing baseball. Jazz were the most consistent, but the best Suns & Sonics teams to me were a tad better than the best Jazz teams. Although John Stockton to me is the 2nd best player from the Jordan era.
Mary Akopyan Obviously you seem to somebody who doesn’t know much about basketball.
This is an old episode, there's a better copy of this episode available on TH-cam. Chucks Suns hands should win the conversation
Kenny needs to stop acting like he is a legend
Damn right. Kenny always like to butt in to other people speaking.
Why didn’t they use actual audio clips for Steve Smith and Greg Anthony during the intro. Smitty’s was just the Brent Barry free throw line dunk contest jam and Greg’s was from a Grant Hill dunk I’m sure.
Damn he jinxed Kd calling Malone who got injured couldn’t play in the finals well him
I feel like Anthony and C Webb got off screen beef
There did seem like there was a little tension there I noticed that too
Right ..they was hella tense 😂
Did they hit the same girl or something back in the day?
28:19 Steve Smith was so funny here. “3D told us he was on the Sea-Doo”. And then there’s 3D doing his Sea-Doo impression. 30:44
That Portland team wasn't more talented than that Orlando team with Shaq, Penny, Anderson, Scott and so many others.
Scottie Pippen
Rasheed Wallace
Arvydas Sabonis
Steve Smith
Damon Stoudemire
Jermaine O'Neal
Bonzi Wells
Stacey Augmon
Brian Grant
Detlef Schrempf
Greg Anthony
@@scarykurapika100yago2 who on that team can start on Orlando other than Rasheed Wallace and Horace Grant may give him a run...
Mid-90s Magic had the best starting-5 of any team in the 90s. 00' Blazers had a deeper bench & better perimeter defense, so it's close. But I think 93' Suns had a nicer blend of fire power & depth than both of them, plus being experienced but still in their primes. 95' Magic were somewhat immature, while 00' Blazers were a bit over the hill.
@@maryakopyan3224 The 93 Suns were trash on defense and was exposed in the finals.. MJ was like defended by 5 trashcans averaged like 40+ a game..
@@TheZayzkidd3 95 Magic was immature and had zero depth. Yeah their first 5 was talented but their bench was trash with anthony bowie, shaw, jeff turner lol.. 2000s Blazers are wayy better
Steve Smith the MVP of this episode when he's riding the See Doo.
The mid 80s Atlanta Hawks teams with Dominique Wilkins Spud Webb Randy Wittman Cliff Levingston Antoine Carr Tree Rollins or the mid to late 80s Dallas mavericks teams with Derek Harper Rolondo Blackman Mark Aguirre Sam Perkins with Dale Ellis the 6th man who was a great 3 point specialist
The more I see of CWebb the more I am impressed by his knowledge, humor and charm.
🤡
CWebb is really a neat person.. love him!
Listening/watching these.
One I miss this show and they need to bring it back.
Second McHale is like the godfather. Everyone talking over each other constantly. Then Kevin starts talking and they all stop and start listening
Derrick Coleman - C, C-Webb - PF, Barkley - SF, Iverson - SG, and Penny - PG. Stockton - PG, Malone - PF, Dominique - SF, Ewing - C, and J.R. Rider off the bench.
