Love that. Brian saying he’s going to be fine one day as Cole is swinging in the gate like a 5 year old!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You two men are awesome. Thank you for sharing
🎯👍😂😂
" but not yet"! Snicker snicker.
Nothing beats a good stick set up when welding on rusty material .....Son, if you will permit me...I have been welding for over 50 years and it takes time, repetition and training to lay down a bead that will do the job as specified, and pass a beauty contest ...Will yours pass a beauty contest, no, but it will do the job as specified, and will sure as hell get the job done....Your welds don't look to bad ,so you continue on, confident that you possess the skills needed to maintain your farms needs.....#MoneySaved...
Brian, great closing statement.
No body will bug you about knee pads, if they do, block them, they are not worth your time of day!! No loss... To many wonderful people rooting for you Cole... 🙏💕👍 god bless you sonne farms 💕👍
Never ever think knee pads arent the way to go. Your older self will appreciate it.
Word of the day Aglet.
Was there a "moist" in this video?
Brian you raised a good one!
Moist is one thing you don't want when working with a Lincoln welder in the field. Built a similar round Corral and chutes for a friend. Did it in the winter time with wet slushy snow on the ground , and the old gray Lincoln welder though. Thought the Rubber overshoes and leather welding gloves would insulate me enough until I drop down on one knee to get the bottom rod Fastener welded. Fell over to the side shaking like a leaf at first Ark.!.! "I don't claim to be smart , but I am a pretty good welder".
@@earlhollar1906 Alot of the videos cole will find a way to work a "moist" in. Moist is a word that ppl don't like to hear.
I agree take care of your knees while your still young
You've raised a good Boy there Boss. Hey, it's almost Busch Light time. I'm agonna sit here and read the comments and see if any welders have any more advice. As I drink my Busch Light. Have a great Day..
Did I actually hear Brian say "that;s a good looking gate, son..."......wow...big compliment from someone who rarely praises.
Brian: "He's gonna be fine without me someday."
Sees Cole taking a ride swinging on the gate like a little kid.
"But, he's not there yet."😂
Cole Sonne Welding Works sounds like a winner to me 👍😎
Brian's comment at the end......Brilliant!!!
Cole man, your CLEAN mother doesn't have bed bugs in her nice home. U say that & U gonna end strung up in the tractor shed !!! What u got is little- bitsy biting spiders. All ranches/farms get 'em this time of year.🍁🍁🇨🇦
No greater compliment to your son to say those words. A legacy to be proud of for sure.
Now you need to paint it that cool Sunny farms Orange and have somebody cut out a Sunny farms sign to a weld on the top of that that would look really really cool
Cole them are some nice gates, you may have to build some to sell in the store. This is my welding story. When I was in high school in machine shop class one day I was welding on something in the floor with a stick welder and this boy in class keep sneaking up to me and heating my britches leg up with a cigarette lighter. I told him to quit two or three times and he didn’t. That’s where he messed up! The next time I felt my leg heat up, I flipped my helmet back and he was standing in front of me. I took that Hot welding rod and poked him hard with it between his belt and his privates. It burnt a hole through his britches and underwear. Branded him right then and there. He wanted to fight, but I told him I had warned him to leave me alone. He never bothered me again after that. That’s all I got to say about that. Your dad looked so proud at how the gates looked. Hope they work well for y’all. Thanks for the videos
Brian your wife and yourself have raised an amazing man. Nice to see people being raised to be decent hard working respectful people.
Cole. I hope your joking about bed bugs.
If not. Run your finger along the seam of the piping and if you get black or blood. Your in trouble. Cause it's a choir to deal with bed bugs.
Red ant powder posion kills them. Put some in the seams of the matress and other areas they hide for a couple of days then vacume it out.
Use a commercial steam cleaner you rent at a local big box store then let it dry.
Hot wash all clothing and bedding with the point then repeat twice to wash that out.
The same poisin is good for roach and other pests that are difficult to get rid off.
Including mice of all things.
Just sprinkle it where they track.
It's seriously nasty stuff.
That's a South Florida hack.
Sonne. Thanks for the food (Beef) I eat. And thanks for the laugh's !.......Canonsburg, PA.
"#1 long rod, because I was good in all positions."
Now that's some funny shit right there!
😂
Especially that expression look Cole made. 🤣
Pretty sure # 1 Long Rod was a Japanese porn star. I've heard anyway..
I was going to say something about that comment, too. There is not much left to cause a giggle when you reach my age.
That's what she said
You could drill and tap in grease zerks into the outer hinge seams it would swing a little easier
i was gonna say the same thing
Was going to suggest the same, as that’s how we lubed our stockyard gates.
Nah, just squirt used motor oil on them
WD40. Solves the problem
@@909drummachine but washes out easier than grease. I always used some marine blue grease (boat trailer wheel bearing grease) for cattle yard gates.
But he's not there yet..(as he swings by on the gate). Classic... 😂☘️🇺🇸
Cracking ending Dad. That was brilliant.
Nice corrals. Nice gates. Good job young Sonne. Old man trick: a 5 gallon bucket, or a milk crate is a great seat to steady yourself for low work. Probably doesn't translate very tough, but it's necessary for me nowadays. Maybe Lincoln will gift you a nice nomex gauntlet jacket? That'd be sweet.
Cole as a welder and fabrication person I have drilled the hinge pipe and tapped it for a grease zerk. It stops the squeaky. Field in Michigan
Brian put some pour on him to get rid of those bed bugs!🤣 those are some fine looking gates.
😂
Add custom built "Cole" built gates to your new farm store. Much easier to build the exact dimension gate to specific farm field application, then to modify factory built gates. Could be a very profitable service and product to add to your farm store.
Number One Long Rod, Deep Penetrating....Cole, you're killing me. Keep it up.
Or...better not....with that flashy light show goin' on near the family "future?!👀🤣😂🤣🤠🙃😬😎👍
I have to say, There is No One else on TH-cam. Like The Sonne's . Your Dad and You make watching very much Fun !!1
hey thanks Woody!
Hey Cole you are healing so amazingly quick, kneeling down on that new knee.
I’m 18 mths into a knee replacement and I can’t kneel at all. Your are in your 20s me in my 80s, could be the reason 🤣😂😂
Love your farm videos very cool welding 😎😎
Nice work Cole Brian you crack me up👍👍🏴
I would recommend drilling a hole in each hinge and putting a grease zerk in there, all our gates have grease zerks and it’s keeps the gates moving a lot smoother longer
#1 long rod obviously did some preparatory work at the 5&6 grade school dance. What a weird time to be alive indeed.
Well ANOTHER GREAT ONE!!!! Yes Brian's wit and HUMOR !!!!! 2 👍 👍
I was going to ask if the gates are strong enough for your niece and nephew to swing on, and then there you go, swinging across my screen. Thanks for another great video.
LOL! good in all positions! Funny guy! Thx Cole!
“He will be fine without me someday” as Cole swings by “He’s not there yet”. PERFECT SONNE FARM CLOSING 🤣😃🤣😀😳👍
Cole: when you were tell your Dad about the Bed Bugs and said it was time to move out, I saw a big smile on your Dad's face. Also when Dad asked at the end about the difference in the height of the 2 gates meeting together and asked "What's this about" Your reply should have been "about 1.5 inches" Great vlog and excellent welding skills 👍👍👍👍👍
Hey Cole, you were welding a little close to the family jewels ... brave man
Well Son, it aint no roll of dimes, but its better than I can do. Most of my welds look like grapes. Ya done a good job Festus, keep up the good work. And by the way, I love my beef.
Grinding discos back in me school days = fond happy memories. Lost my virginity at a school disco. :-)
Cole...beyond the tensile strength, the MAJOR difference between 6011's and 7018's is how each rod is stored between uses. 6011's are commonly called 'mud rods' because you can throw them in mud, wipe them off and weld. Not so with 7018's - they need to be kept clean and moisture free once the seal on the original rod container is broken. If used where the welding is subject to any structural inspection like x-ray, etc., 7018's are required to be kept in a heat oven. I've used 7018's in places where if the rod was dropped on the floor/ground, that rod wasn't used, it was recycled as scrap. I was a certified 4G structural welder - I haven't kept my certification for about 12 years now but I can still weld. For your application, your stick welding is just fine. And YEP, Lincoln welders are the best in my book. Don't mean to upset Hobart fans or those folks who buy from Harbor Freight. Oh...one other FYI, invest in quality welders chaps, your body will thank you in later years...well actually in current time too given your 'welding position' fabing those gates! Lastly, given your knee situation, get yourself some couch cushions to kneel on. Keep a bucket of water handy if the cushions catch some hot sparks. Just some suggestions...
Built SOOO many gates and cattle yards on Aussie cattle stations and dairy yards.
Always welded my verticals bottom up, you look to be going top down.
Bottom up always filled better and have a better bead and finish.
Try it. 👍🏻
Run the 7018 going up hill to keep from getting slag inclusion (the holes and dimples in the weld bead). Basically gravity will help pull the slag away from the weld pound and from where you are going to weld.
Cole, You did an excellence job. Very good. Good to see Mr. B show up. Another great video . Thank you guys.
I have to make another comment , When Brian said he's going to be fine without me but he ain't there yet (I'm still laughing )
Well said!
It was classic!
As Cole plays on the gate behind him ... 🤣🤣
@@JudyJudyJudy44 That's not playing, that's quality and strength testing. Our instructor had us weld a nut to sheet metal and then screw a bolt through the nut until it pushed the hole through the sheet metal to test to see if the weld would break before the metal gave!! Amazing how strong Silver Soder is.
He will be just like his dad hardworking and funny
I like to watch farm related videos mainly because farmers for generations have been Fixing and Fabricating, hence the term “ Farm Fix “. The other day I watched a video by KyFarmerman titled Millet Tour, Fence is done. In it his dad has came up with a simple yet effective home build tool to keep barb wire spacing on new fences consistent while also holding the wire in place when fastening. When you see it you will go wow so simple why didn’t I think of that.
Hey Cole, here is a suggestion for a winter project. Build your self some steel saw horses with flat tops that you can clamp stuff to. It will be a lot easier to work standing up than bending over to the floor. When i started my first cabinet shop, the first thing i did was build a bunch of sturdy saw horses to build stuff on. I also use a big assembly table. The saw horse idea migh be better, you can stack them out of the way when not in use, you could also get an airless sprayer and prime them with rust proof primer while they are on the horses.
hello keith
how are you doing
Glad you checked up on Young Guns, Brian. I was worried he was unsupervised! Cole, I'm rooting for you to get a Lincoln sponsorship.
hello ryan
how are you doing
The notification came up while I was looking at your weather and radar. Been praying for rain for y'all. Hope it's not too late.
Cheers from NC.
Just so ya know ! Sonne Farms is our number one search on TH-cam! Bahaha . Corbin it’s his fault lol 😆
Nice job! A farmer must have many skills. Especially the small farmers. You are not small but very versatile.
That's some fancy welding there, Mr. Long Rod. 🤣
Nothing more satisfying than standing back and looking at a finished job well done.
excellent fabrication on those gates 👏👏👏
Those gates look like you have bison in mind for the future!
Outstanding job. That welder is so cool, ere, figure of speech.
One of Brian's best last words to end the video...
Hey, I really like this video and the way you weld! You're a good boy Cole, you'll go far kid, and I love Brian's humor. Keep it up, your number one fan, George Schndler.
It's good to see how you get around without a limp - healing nicely. Incidentally, Bill says you are ready for the GATES CLAN.
You should tap a few grease fittings into the pipe on the hinge. Would turn free for years and years, nice work though. Keep the vids coming. All I could think off when he was swinging on the gate in the end was the SNL skit with them in the play ground with Fallon wearing a helmet on the slide.
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always 🌞 Farms!!!!
being a welder over 50 years, id be damn proud of your welding knowledge, and skills! your welding positions... NOT SO MU
CH!!
He could use a little spacer knowledge. For the hinge welding amazing what a 1/2 x1/2 by 3 inch spacer will do for a hinge
Could avoid welding so close to his nuts.
@@fuzzz5213 amen!!
@@fuzzz5213 he will when that first chunk of red hot slag lands there.
Yeah a hot spark on the ding ding will change some of those
Using the right rods
Standing on the end of the gate, very impressive COLE! And don’t forget, practice, practice, practice! Looks like you’re close to get it right!
Brian wins with the subtle "Tommy Boy" reference... "Not so much here, or here... But riiiight here"
Unrelated to that, Cole talking about eating beef for lunch made me think of that old beef commercial that said "beef, it's what's for dinner." I always felt like they were under selling beef. They should have said "beef, enjoy eating it with every meal!" Or something along those lines. 😂👍 Talk about a missed opportunity. 🤷♂️
Very impressive . . . when the measure tape doesn't stick, when you stretch from corner to corner . . . just weld it . . . great video.
Beautiful gates. You are after all the master gate builder.
You did good Cole ! 👏🏼👏🏼
I'm very impressed with your gates Cole....great work.
Cole, I'm sure everybody watching was screaming at You on the second gate!!! Knees on the concrete!!!! Great job on the gates!
hello anthony
how are you doing
When kids riding the farm gate open
and swinging on the old hillshoist clotheslines ( mum for years you kids will break it )
it was still working perfectly it never broke
Australian childhood memories, swinging on the hills hoist and getting yelled at. My cousins did in fact bend theirs 🤣
Great job on welding and building those fences saving money heck yea always fun to watch
GREAT job, Cole.
Well made and nice looking gates.... They'll be there for years to come.....👍
Me myself, I prefer the pin up the bottom of the upright (with a dollop of grease) lower hinge. Then a saddle wrap for the top hinge. A wail with a bit hammer can tune that stuff to auto close like magic.
Take it from someone who fought bed bugs for 6 years, it is no joke. Thinking of the things I went through has me on the edge of tears. You can't just move or throw out the beds or bug bamboo the place. Just one bug that got missed can reinfect it all over again. I am afraid to use laundromats for the possibility of someone who has brought one and it get on me or in my stuff. Bed bug bites are better than brown recluse spiders but not by much.
If you have some bugs take care of it quickly don't hesitate. Burn your bed! You can clean the frame but the mattress is a total loss. If I had done that in the beginning and not tried to save my expensive bedding maybe it would have been better, who knows. I lost a whole lot from those little things.
Good luck!
Number ONE long rod , you funny-boy !!!!!
COLE YOU DID A GREAT JOB!! CONGRATS!!!!!
Did they teach you in welding class that it was safe to weld between your legs? As a Mom and a nurse, I'm curious!
Cole, you’re amazing as always.
Got to build that welding trailer!
Another great video- glad you didn’t burn the family jewels while welding. Lol. Brian for the best ending ever so far, very touching … then, wait for it, the zinger! 🤣❤️👍
You are an excellent welder , "Great Bead" , 👍👍👍
Cole, I learned to weld in H.S. too back in the 80's. I learned I was great welding on my back with the project over me.
Cole , I was still laughing 😂 at the end after the intro and you telling Brian you would need to move out because of the bed bugs 🐛😂😂😂😂 Brilliant vlog guys! You should definitely both be on the stage ! Thanks for sharing.
I'm so proud of you, you made this video very interesting, I've watched other clips done by other's obviously, but they are into " buying " all that they need, and here you make what you need... Great Job.
That was a great video and yes you do build a nice gate, that will last a lot longer. Very educational too. Will be back for the finish.
hello david
how are you doing
hello david
how are you doing
You're so cute. And I don't mean just your appearance. Love your sense of humor and the way you explain things.
Awesome gates and now I want to paint them........LOL LOL Seriously they look awesome and will work well. They look strong as can be. Reminds me of when my husband used to weld for a job in his youth and came home with burned eyes from the welder.
Took some potatoes and peeled them and squeezed the potatoes until juice ran out of the raw potato to help the eyes get over the burn.......dripped the potato juice in his eyes. Man that was years ago now in Yankton SD when Kohlberg's was just starting on building conveyors. Lots of memories of welding and yes still to this day we have two welders in the garage that get used from time to time. Good memories. Another great video guy. Looks like summer has gone too fast and fall will be upon us soon.........man the time is flying by!
Blessings
Says "Whos gonna make fun of my knee pads" then persists to weld between his legs like he's looking at a mole he found that is worrying him! LOL love it
I was kinda worried for him when I saw that!
Might need to put a solid rubber wheel on the opening end of the gate for additional support and to aid in ease of movement.
Ice and snow, that's all I got to say about that
not with the snow we get.
Mud and loose dirt don't make a good rolling surface for small wheels.
Yeah..i learned something by watching..thank you..
Famous last words of wisdom, btw welding like a pro, greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
Cole nice gates!! Need to cut your logo out of some sheet metal and hang it on one of your gates.
“What a weird time to be alive...” wait until you are married and have your own kids. Thanks for sharing this video. Will you be adding a swing wheel on the bottom of the gate to support the free end and make it easier to move? What about a grease fitting on the hinges to add periodic lubrication?
Wishing you and your family another great week. Thanks for sharing this video. Peace brother.
Careful with those knees, Cole. You don't need anymore problems. Keep those kneepads handy.
Dad did good with that kid of his. Other dads please take notice, a little hard work pays off
hello paul
how are you doing
I learned to weld on an old Forney "buzzbox" it was probably 40 years old when I started using it....usually had to turn it up about 20- 30 amps (more than recommended) because it was a "cold" welder.
Cole....your dads comment about u being ok one day without him......but not yet.....is priceless.....and very funny !!!!!
yes i think i am funny too
.....and also very modest Brian Sonne!
modest is not my strong suit
Great job on the gates Cole. Nice welds by the way.
Drill those hinges and add a grease fitting, spray lube is not going to make it. Nice job guys.👍👍
Awesome job on the gates!!
