Something I really appreciate in life are gamers that don't judge or belittle newcomers or beginners. I see it so much, especially in the xbox community, where people that have never played a game (let's say Call Of Duty for example) or are only staring to play a game get laughed, yelled at, ect for not being a pro at the game. You can't expect someone to be an expert on something they've never participated in. It's why a painters first works aren't always great and new writers have flaws in their stories and it's why sex is always awkward for the first few times. I just really appreciate that you aren't one of the people that make newcomers feel bad about themselves for something that is supposed to be enjoyable, and that you actually take the time to explain how the game works and how to improve your skills and the best strategies and things like that. You're awesome man 😊
How long did it take u to write this? (THIS was a comment from like what 2 years ago and I don't expect a response but for some dumb reason I still have hope.)
They tend to shut up when you confirm that, yes, you are in fact a complete noob. There is little to no enjoyment to be found in farming an opponent that is physically incapable of fighting back.
So great that you're making this series of D&D videos. when you're finished you could maybe collaborate with some other asmr content creators and play through it!
You should do an interactive D&D ASMR adventure, make a character and let your audience vote for what the course of action should be in the comment section.
We need 4th part of series. I'd love to hear you create a random dungeon using dice on a soft mat, plus a grid paper with a traditional sharpie marker. I would imagine the marker sounds would be great, especially if you fill in walls with detail.
starting a dungeons and dragons club at my highschool and simply had to re-watch these first for inspiration. all I can imagine is you as my dungeon master and its wonderful.
Thanks for this great video! I was a player well over 20 years ago and now my kids have shown an interest in D&D. I just got the complete 5e core books, The Curse of Strahd, and a couple of sets of dice. Now that I'm done with this video, my boys and I will pay close attention to the next one while we work on developing our characters. I'll save the DM video for me so I know how to properly set up an adventure and run a game.
+Carl Rundle i follow many asmr creators all have different styles ER is more of a movie actor style very story and acting drivin where as some others are more traditional. I love and respect all creators even if some i dont like . no matter how many subs 0-1000000 its all in the quality and content and if you enjoy it.
I've been listening to ASMR a lot more lately because it helps with my depression, have been in a funk for 6 months over knowing I will die one day and have been struggling with trying to find a reason to continue on. Thank you so much for putting out content, I truly do appreciate the help.
Rift, I swear, you and I are one in the same! Just a few days ago I thought to myself, "Man, if only Rift were into D&D, he could make a great asmr video about it". I check your channel the next day, and BOOM! Just like that, a D&D had been masterfully crafted and uploaded to your channel. Keep doing what you're doing and you will continue to rack in the subscribers, Rift!
Tiefling- (Teef-ling) It's a Half-Fiend race. They have a resistance to Fire and gain the Thaumaturgy cantrip at 1st level, Hellish Rebuke at 3rd, and Darkness at 5th which is pretty neat.
I've recently been playing 5e and it's a lot of fun! I had previously played mostly 1e and advanced d&d as my dad was the one who introduced my sister and I to it and that was what he grew up playing, but I joined the d&d club at my school and 5e has been quite a lot of fun so far!
oh good gods just found a new trigger, that page riffling through pages almost knocked me out, thank you for the work you put into this. Have a great night.
Currently running and participating in two games of 5E. This is fantastic to listen to while writing up my campaign. Thanks for the content, Papa Rift.
I'm a fan of anything that allows some free-flowing imagination to change how the game works. Learnt a lot and I'll definitely check out the next parts
I just got into D&D because of my brother in december 2015. I played my first adventure, and managed to bluff or negotiate my way through over half of the game due to extremely high charisma and wisdom.
Been playing D&D since I was 12 years old... been almost 13 years now. 5th edition is by far my favorite version (even more so than Pathfinder). I've tried my hand at being DM a few times in the past, with mixed success, but I love this hobby so much, I keep trying, and with this edition, and with all my experience, I feel confident that soon enough, I'll be a decent DM.
Thank God for you, sir! I have 36 hours to learn the logistics of running my girlfriend's family through my first dungeon. I've never played before. Got all the monsters, the map, the items, npc stats and script/choice/encounter notes but I've never played the game before... 😬
I love Dungeons and Dragons. My friends and I play nearly every a week. I began with Pathfinder, but am currently enjoying the simplicity of 5e. It's a great way to train your imagination, especially if you have a good Dungeon Master. Enjoy, ER!
I always enjoy playing a Bard, my latest endeavours were as Palpymo Tingle, the bard who writes jingles. Scholar, diplomat and alcoholic. Man I love DnD
Same here, last time I played was in the mid '80s and we had fun but didn't know much, just went room to room killing monsters. I got back into it recently, I DM now and it's even more fun than it was then.
I'm sick right now, and I was falling asleep to this video. I ended up having a dream in which Ephemeral Rift was hypnotizing me, and for some reason I couldn't stop complying with what he wanted me to do, even though he was gradually hurting me after a point. He kept referring to me as "the creature" and the messed up things he was getting me to do as "adventures".
Great to see you talking about D&D, Rift! Can't wait to see more. I would also urge people to check out the free Basic Rules of Fifth Edition D&D on the Wizards of the Coast website. It has the full rules and a sampling of monsters and magic items. Plenty to get started with!
+ElementalShogun Agreed, didn't actually expect to see aFistfulofDice here. Love his Provoker campaign. aFistfulofDice actually got me into DM'ing last year.
D&D seems really interesting, but I don't think I'd be able to convince anyone to play it with me. And I don't think my anxiety would allow me join an already established group. Oh well, I guess we can't always get what we want in life.
+Slump Cat I don't mean to be rude, I'm sure it's hard. But do you really think anything will change by writing a comment on youtube saying how sorry you feel for yourself?
+Slump Cat there are similar games online which require no social interaction :) or you can try to set up a game with other people that share your condition / feelings!
Oh my sweet Lord I was invited to play by a coworker and assumed I knew everything because I played when I was twelve. And I don't want to disappoint or waste the time of everyone but couldn't find anything that didn't confuse me further. Recognized you from a long time ago when I completely depended on ASMR for panic. Thank you for your help now and I should have also thanked you for your help when I really needed it for stability instead of slight social problems.
Such a positive video! Can't wait for the next videos. I can't get through this one though! I love going through my D&D books... Such beautiful books filled with so much imagination. Thank you so much for your efforts in composing your ASMR videos. After only getting into ASMR on TH-cam about 2 months ago, I really enjoy your voice and the style of your videos. Well done and PLEASE keep doing what you're doing.
I hadn't realised you'd made videos on 5e! I'm in the process of updating from 3.5e and Pathfinder as I've pulled together a group of people who are interested in getting into the game. Thought I'd search for ASMR videos on it and lo and behold, good old Uncle E has just what I was looking for. Cheers!
I'm glad I have headphones. If anyone spoke to me like this in real life I'd be like, "WHAT?! SPEAK UP!" Good video. I look forward to the rest of this series.
When you spent the whole day studying the system and preparing your first adventure and you really want to keep absorbing information even though you're exhausted and layed in the bed.
Dungeons and Dragons, Amber, Car Wars, Marvel Super Heroes, Rifts, Robotech, Elric, Vampire the Masquarade......... man we used to play a lot games. :-)
Im looking forward to part 2 and 3. Ephemeral Rift you are by far my favorite ASMR channel. Just FYI I love it when you whisper...not quite as crazy about the tapping as some other folks are though... I am not a follower of role play videos like a lot of folk however I am impressed with your obvious creativity. My favorite videos of yours (besides this one) are the traditional ASMR whisper videos. Those definitely give me the tingles :)
awesome! all my friends play this at lunch break and I'm like, da hell is dis? never had it explained properly, so thanks a ton for making this, and thanks for existing, E.R! :D
Excellent!!! I am thinking about introducing my son to tabletop rpg too! I found a game called "Chroniques Oubliees" (an equivalent to Pathfinder apparently, in French) which has an initiation book. I felt very excited to read again about rolling 3d6 for the attributes of the characters, reminded me of my very first introduction to rpg, with the famous red box of DnD, more than 25 years ago ... oh my, getting old, but very happy to have a son who seems interested in fantasy ;)
I have hear little of this but have wanted to try it out but been afraid cause it seems so advanced so thanks alot for this video and the next ones to come :)
Dungeons and Dragons seems very intriguing despite the fact I've never delved into it, however after this video it's fair to say I'd love to attempt playing at some point. The video itself was incredible, I loved the hands on feel plus the absolute passion you express towards the game, and without a doubt a definite worthwhile watch on a drizzly morning for some well needed relaxation. Can't wait to watch the rest of the series, and loving the excellent work you produce. Keep Rifting ;3
I would like you to take a drink whilst talking about D&D, anything really is fine. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. Water is relaxing as well. Thank you Rift.
this is sooo good im fascinated! you are going to be the BEST DM in history for sure! I go to a market where there is a game store where dozens of kids teens and adults gather out the front of the stall and play D&D now I know a bit about what the hell theyre doing hehe xx
i've never had the chance to play d&d, but i've already made a character lol. im hoping once i get to high school i can buy a basic campaign set and start a club :)
Wanted some background noise while playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker and what do you know of course Ephemeral Rift has an ASMR video on D&D. Such a warm and wholesome individual you are sir.
Well, if i ever start playing this with friends, im not only using this as a walktrough for all of us, but im going to create the title of Ephimeral Rifter. In your honor.
Something I really appreciate in life are gamers that don't judge or belittle newcomers or beginners. If this comment was written now the game example would most definitely be people who play fortnite
i hope you know i read this out loud in a skeletor impression and it was the best most wholesome thing ever.
uummm i get your point but we didnt need the sex part
So great that you're making this series of D&D videos. when you're finished you could maybe collaborate with some other asmr content creators and play through it!
+Skyler Adams mashing the like button. lets make this idea come true
I want to see this collab video happen!!
Dmitri and Clemmons D&D :)
+Viroh can't forget Britney. so she can tell us she hopes we are doing extremely well today
Yooo that'd be awesome! Like an asmr critical role
You should do an interactive D&D ASMR adventure, make a character and let your audience vote for what the course of action should be in the comment section.
Great! It would only take fifty years, the amount of decisions is uncanny and he’d have to make separate 5 minute videos for each one.
Twitch Plays DND
Terrible explanation, couldn't understand because I fell asleep 5 minutes into the video.
Haha same
Me too thanks
The Taint Flicker oof
Lol
I'd like to see a game between your various personas.
I would love to see a bunch of ASMRtists playing D&D, and see them get rowdy and loud~
We all would
dualwieldroxas358 wut?
Rift, once again you roll 20 against my insomnia. Thank you.
We need 4th part of series. I'd love to hear you create a random dungeon using dice on a soft mat, plus a grid paper with a traditional sharpie marker. I would imagine the marker sounds would be great, especially if you fill in walls with detail.
I already have that planned, but with a dry erase grid mat, not paper. Video should be out in a week...
I still wanna see the ER Dungeon Creation Video XD
starting a dungeons and dragons club at my highschool and simply had to re-watch these first for inspiration. all I can imagine is you as my dungeon master and its wonderful.
ER is looking more and more like a wise, old Jedi....
Relax with Jedi Master Rift confirmed.
Oooo good idea! I couldn't really get into his Yoda video but maybe a different Jedi
News from the future... the great beard awakens...
Craziness! I'm 38 and ,as of a month ago, felt the desire to dust off my old D&D books. Glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for sharing friend.
I love the fact you are helping the newbies out with DnD, more people to teach why Wizard is the best class.
The best RPG game ever! I've been playing for almost 2 years now and it is still one of the best games ever! Thank you for posting this!
As a fan of yours and the game, I can say with confidence that this was great! :D
I will go with you inspired him to make this video lol
I agree. I have yet to play d&d but this makes me want to!
+ASMR Boosters its the best yet.
Thanks for this great video! I was a player well over 20 years ago and now my kids have shown an interest in D&D. *My friend! I think.. you made my day!*
*I am grateful for that..*
*Have a beautiful day!*
ohh tabuhan! i love your videos like i love ER's videos :)
Carl Rundle ahh ER is a like Yoda. And I'm just a Padawan ^_^ but thanks anyway..
+Tabuhan ASMR subscribers isn't everything, you are atleast as good! for me, that is :) i'm a subscriber of you both so i would know :D
+Carl Rundle i follow many asmr creators all have different styles ER is more of a movie actor style very story and acting drivin where as some others are more traditional. I love and respect all creators even if some i dont like . no matter how many subs 0-1000000 its all in the quality and content and if you enjoy it.

It's been about two or three years that I have been watching your videos, and I just now realize that you have been an amazing role model for me.
+Wastoid I believe we have a different view toward ''selling out''. Does it interfere with the content he creates?
It would be something to have a full session, broken up into multiple parts, of a single adventure with multiple ASMR artists.
ER knows all **x-files theme**
Roll for initiative.
+ASMRTA55 I rolled a 1 and fell asleep

My dice rolled off the table and I lost them. Now what?
There should be an ASMR google hangout D&D game. I'm in.
Just looked up D&D ASMR yesterday and now the mighty rift uploaded one himself, splendid!
been curious about this game for a while now, asmr+d&d??? hell yeah!
Tiefling- (Teef-ling) It's a Half-Fiend race.
They have a resistance to Fire and gain the Thaumaturgy cantrip at 1st level, Hellish Rebuke at 3rd, and Darkness at 5th which is pretty neat.
I've been playing dnd for over 4 years now but I still watched and enjoyed it

I've recently been playing 5e and it's a lot of fun! I had previously played mostly 1e and advanced d&d as my dad was the one who introduced my sister and I to it and that was what he grew up playing, but I joined the d&d club at my school and 5e has been quite a lot of fun so far!
I really want to thank you rift! This really sparked my interest to play this game, and at the same time relaxed me! Thanks a bunch
I've always wanted to learn about this
oh good gods just found a new trigger, that page riffling through pages almost knocked me out, thank you for the work you put into this. Have a great night.
at 1 random point I had a spike in my tingling and he had just whispered the word "manuals" lol
D&D is my favorite game. We accidentally ran for almost 8 hours today so I'm really excited to fall asleep to D&D asmr tonight!
Please continue this, Rift, I couldn't be looking forward to this more, man
+NOTORIOUS C.A.T. The next video will be out today!
Currently running and participating in two games of 5E. This is fantastic to listen to while writing up my campaign. Thanks for the content, Papa Rift.
This is awesome
I got into dnd 5e just this past summer, so it'll be cool to see ER talk about it for these next few videos
I'm a fan of anything that allows some free-flowing imagination to change how the game works. Learnt a lot and I'll definitely check out the next parts

The funny thing is, I played this for the first time the day before you posted this video! I loved playing and can't wait to do it again!
Thank God for you, sir! I have 36 hours to learn the logistics of running my girlfriend's family through my first dungeon. I've never played before. Got all the monsters, the map, the items, npc stats and script/choice/encounter notes but I've never played the game before... 😬
I had the exact same experience with the game while growing up. And I'm into it again.
+jakeismyhero That's great to hear!
Im not used to him with hair
+ryan taylor He looks...healthier somehow. Suits him.
+Faintest Of Breath Plot Twist he is actually in Chemo Remission. Jk
+FirstPersonGamer he wouldn't have a beard if he was m8
Jack Brewry calm m9
+FirstPersonGamer those jokes aren't funny, m10
ER, this is great. I got 5th Ed last year and played it with my friends, im glad you go there!
Same here, last time I played was in the mid '80s and we had fun but didn't know much, just went room to room killing monsters. I got back into it recently, I DM now and it's even more fun than it was then.
I'm sick right now, and I was falling asleep to this video. This is so fascinating. It's like MMORPG old fashioned and by hand.
Rift is rocken that dungeon master look.
Great to see you talking about D&D, Rift! Can't wait to see more.
I would also urge people to check out the free Basic Rules of Fifth Edition D&D on the Wizards of the Coast website. It has the full rules and a sampling of monsters and magic items. Plenty to get started with!
It's cool seeing two content creators I follow, who are from different communities, converge.
+ElementalShogun Agreed, didn't actually expect to see aFistfulofDice here. Love his Provoker campaign. aFistfulofDice actually got me into DM'ing last year.
Great video Paul, the atmosphere was very relaxing. Was definetely looking forward for this, and I still am for the other episodes. Have a great day.
Still watching Sir. I love your ode's to Lovecraft and now D&D. Keep up the good work- Sincerely- Gus Chiggins
oh i have waited such a long time for either you or massageasmr making one of these!
D&D seems really interesting, but I don't think I'd be able to convince anyone to play it with me. And I don't think my anxiety would allow me join an already established group. Oh well, I guess we can't always get what we want in life.
I'm in the same situation. I couldn't convince any of my friends to play with me and I couldn't face joining a club or group. It sucks, doesn't it? :(
+straight quavers get your shit together, get out there and join a club and socialize.
+Slump Cat I don't mean to be rude, I'm sure it's hard. But do you really think anything will change by writing a comment on youtube saying how sorry you feel for yourself?
Andreas Soumelidis I don't feel sorry for myself.
+Slump Cat there are similar games online which require no social interaction :) or you can try to set up a game with other people that share your condition / feelings!
Playing through the dungeon would be incredibly fun and cool. This video was great btw.
Your game explanations are great. The chess and MTG ones you did a while back are my favorite.
Man I would love to play D&D for the first time with Uncle E
Oh yes! I loved your Magic The Gathering tutorial and I am now psyched for this!!!
I'm looking forward to the next one!
"But then I grew up... biologically" 😂
I've got to hand it to you! .....I discovered ASMR videos by accident a few months ago and some of yours are by far the best! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻💪🏻👍🏻
This man looks incredible for someone who was a teenager in the 80s
This was a great video Rift. I'm definitely going to start playing this.
I got so many tingles from the tapping in the beginning.
Oh good, I'm supposed to be playing for the first time this weekend! Thanks
Cheers!
Have been waiting for this video since you told us about making it :) Thanks er
Man.. i felt asleep after 10 minutes :D
I can't wait for more of this series!
Kinda sad this series got left behind. I wanna see more magic missiles!!!
This is awesome, I’m trying to learn more about this game
We had a few game nights at my house but I’m still super new
I'm glad I have headphones. If anyone spoke to me like this in real life I'd be like, "WHAT?! SPEAK UP!" Good video. I look forward to the rest of this series.
When you spent the whole day studying the system and preparing your first adventure and you really want to keep absorbing information even though you're exhausted and layed in the bed.

man we used to play a lot games.
:-)
Two of my few favorite things combined
I honestly would have sat here and watched for many more hours if you into greater detail that. This was fantastic!
This has really made me want to play this game. To bad my parents hate this game for some reason.
Used to DM a while back before my mates left for different schools. Gonna get back into it now on-campus
Awesome. Never played and one of my favorite youtubers explains it!
Excellent!!!
I am thinking about introducing my son to tabletop rpg too! I found a game called "Chroniques Oubliees" (an equivalent to Pathfinder apparently, in French) which has an initiation book. Rift casted sleep spell, very effective.
I would like you to take a drink whilst talking about D&D, anything really is fine. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. Water is relaxing as well. Thank you Rift.
Could never get into Dungeons & Dragons, but I can for sure get into some Dungeons & Dragons ASMR videos :)
can't wait for the next episodes!
this is sooo good im fascinated! you are going to be the BEST DM in history for sure! I go to a market where there is a game store where dozens of kids teens and adults gather out the front of the stall and play D&D now I know a bit about what the hell theyre doing hehe xx
Absolutely love it!
You could maybe even get together a google hangout with other ASMRtists who play DnD, and have a big game together.
i've never had the chance to play d&d, but i've already made a character lol. im hoping once i get to high school i can buy a basic campaign set and start a club :)
That moment when you watch an ASMR video and the ad is for chili's
Fantastic as always, thanks E.R 👍
Wanted some background noise while playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker and what do you know of course Ephemeral Rift has an ASMR video on D&D. Such a warm and wholesome individual you are sir.
Well, if i ever start playing this with friends, im not only using this as a walktrough for all of us, but im going to create the title of Ephimeral Rifter. In your honor.
lol rift I'm from the original AD&D time as well that's awesome, still have many of the books I will have to try it with my kid. Good vid thx much.
I'm personally a pathfinder kind of guy but I like D&D also
