Issa Romper Diesel motors do not rev nearly as high as gas engines. Where a redline on a gas engine would be around 6.5k, the redline on some diesel’s are around 4.5k and maybe even 3k.
Camden Miller if you push a dodge to 3K you’re gonna break shit. If you push a power stroke or a Duramax to 4500, probably gonna break shit, red line is bs😂
Insted of down shifting each gear you can just go into neutral and apply brakes and shift into whatever gear you need it is also easier on the transmission
REAL MANS TRUCK RIGHT THERE. SHE SURE SOUNDS GOOD. DAMN GOOD DEAL. MI. WISE SHE BARE GOT BROKEN IN. STILL GO ANOTHER 800,000 MORE AND STILL RUN LIKE CHAMP. JUST TREAT HER RIGHT.
I just picked up a 99’ with 162k on the odometer for 9k. Has a built trans, 100 horse injectors, Quadzilla Adrenalin tuning, fass fuel system and numerous other add ons. Quite the deal actually.
I think there is a rubber seal that goes between the front fender and grill. I'm pretty sure that is how my 2007 is and think your 2001 would be similar. Also if it doesn't have a lift pump you NEED one on a 24 valve. At a bare minimum install a fuel pressure guage. Low fuel pressure to the injection pump on those motors will kill it fast. A new injection pump will be around the same price you paid for the truck.
If its rollin alotta coal, its probably got higher flowing injectors. Depending on your state it might not pass inspection. If it has an EGT gauge keep an eye on it.
I just bought a 98 12valve 4x4 4 door long bed automatic with a western 2015 plow for 1000 bucks the rockers are bad and has a sport front end and really nice interior. Nice truck I love the red exterior
I bought a 2001 dodge ram 3500 4x4 with the six speed manual. Just a great engine. Can't say much for anything else about the truck. My truck has had a new clutch installed at 360, 000 miles and still had life on original. Lift pump has been changed couple of times. Fuel mileage I get around 23 to 24 on the interstate and 18 or 19 in the city. Really does great. Really it doesn't matter what you have it's how you take care of stuff. Everything no matter what it is will wear and turn to junk. All you can do is prolong the life or shorten the life of a vehicle. Me myself if the cummins was in the Ford then it would have been bought same goes with Chevy but dodge had it.
Congrats dude!!! By the way, i had the same issue with the AC on my 98 RAM, I just replaced the AC compressor clutch and it started working like a champ. No more AC off. Hope this helps you.
Really good deal I rebuild these trucks all the time let me know if you need any information on aft market parts or with tuning we can make that truck a 800 hp truck for less then 10k if you want
Viktor Shokur well I was saying 10k at the most due to prices vary for different products and what he would actually be wanting to do from a big single to a compound set up its all up to him and how he would like to achieve what he wants
10k for almost more then 3x original power... not really that bad, especially considering he’s having pretty bad blow by... he needs a rebuild anyway, there is a reason all the dirty parts of the motor are dirt, and the hood and front end of the valve cover is black and oily... rings are worn out, and probably more..
He got the truck for a steal, I would have saw all that blow by and passed honestly, but for 3k, if he spends 10k on a new motor, he’s only 13k in, not to bad for a really clean body and that bumper, not to mention 4x4 as well. It’s a really good truck for the money.
Hey brotha you’ll get use to it quick and you’ll get addicted to it, I was afraid I stalled 18 times in my town trying to take it home when I first got it but a week later I’m driving it like a damn pro and teaching others how to drive it, manual is the way to go!
Bought a 96 12 valve ext cab long bed for 1500. Got it home and freed up the fuel shutoff solenoid and am daily driving it. Total stock, unmolested and no visible blowby.
Congratulations man! Love your channel family friendly and you purchase vehicles that you love not just for show, maybe do a video update about life and work?
Nv5600s are normally hard to get in gear, as long as it’s not grinding you’re okay. You should learn how to downshift and rev match as well, downshifting will help when driving through traffic so that way you don’t have to guess what gear to put it in and jolt around when you let the clutch out. Rev matching takes some time to learn but I usually rev about 500 rpms more than what I’m at and that is usually enough to make a smooth downshift
Exactly, you can find these trucks for pretty reasonable if you are patient and look around. I paid 1500$ for my 96 12 valve 3500 that had been converted to single rear tire. Everything else is stock and not turned up at all. All I had to do when I got it home was free up the fuel shutoff solenoid and it runs awesome with no visible blow by. Guy I got it from bought people's estates and their vehicles. Awesome truck, love it. Same truck in my state would normally sell for 7k or better.
2800! Man if it runs and drives minimum in my area that trucks 10k if it was busted up shredded interior these things are gold right now! I know it’s 3 years ago but still wow !
For that much, I say you got a sweet deal!! Whoo! See, you never know what you might find with these older cars and trucks. I say you lucked out, man! Better than having no vehicle at all! 😎👍
Watch those rpm's!!! Shift at 2000-2200. They are not meant to be red-lined like that! These trucks red-line at 3k. 1st gear is only needed when pulling, just use 2nd to start out when empty. And watch those downshifts. you need to match the gear with your speed.
hey dude, don’t waist your money and buy a whole new grill. I had the same problem w mine and all it was was the clips inside broke off and you can fix those you don’t need to buy a whole new grill, if you wanted you could literally just zip tie it bro
I'd put smoke stacks on this sumbastitch. I LOVE my 06 ram 3500 5.9l cummins, have a G56 transmission in mine. 4x4, white, single cab, dual 5 inch stacks outta the bed and she's level too. Efilive tuner and a south bend clutch. All I wanna do is put some slightly taller smoke stacks on her and convert her to leather inside and make her a buckskin tan inside. I wanna see if I can get a custom made 70s mopar pistol grip made for it with the gear layout printed on it, but it's not too important. Cool you have the original monroney sticker for yours though.
The first mod u should do, should be putting the original towing mirrors which are the moose mirrors and would look way much better but it sure is a beast and looks amazing 👌
Personally I think it's a shame that full size trucks don't offer a manual transmission anymore, I have never owned an automatic in a truck. My first truck was a 1980 Chevy luv 4x4 ( just a rebadged Isuzu for those not familiar with the luv). I had just turned 16 and couldn't even drive a manual yet, my dad drove it for me and I bought it. That started my love affair with a manual transmission. I'm a really tall man so I soon wanted a bigger truck so I sold the luv after a year and purchased a 1978 Ford F-150 4 speed manual 4x4. Drove the Ford several years and sold it to purchase my first diesel a 1997 Dodge ram 2500 Cummins 5speed 4x4 which I still own and drive daily. I have owned the Dodge almost 21 years and have to say by far it is by far the best truck I have ever owned. Personally I like the durability and simplicity of the manual. It's hard to wear out gears and bearings verses clutches, solenoids, sensors, wiring harnesses, pumps and computers.
If your finding trucks like that in the south for any where near that price I’ll get on a plane right now with my 3 kids while their mom is a work and be at anyone’s house or dealership tomorrow morning with cash in hand hahaha
Hell yeah buddy injoy it take care of it sir I have a 2003 dodge cummins sixspeed manual and I love it I use to have a 1998 cummins 5 speed manual 12valve and it got Stolen from where I work out of the back parking lot
The truck today engine is still no tuned at almost 400,000 and runs and starts like the day I bought it. The engine oil in it looks like break in oil I've kept changed faithfully at 3000 miles. Fuel and air filters same.changed when called for. The ole truck just keeps going.
When u go to start it a light will show on the dash and it will say wait to start and wait until that light goes out and then start it because if u don’t wait it will hurt the motor
Found a single cab 6 speed manual 2001 Cummins with 269k for 6000, but the owner said he’d trade me for my 2003 z71 extended cab with 237k does it sound too good to be true
Advice work on listing to your shift points once you can hear it with out looking you should be just fine. Keep your hand off the shifter whole not shifting gears.

Probably the cash down payment lol
that truck would go for 15k near me
He said it was totalled out so that hurts the value.
