I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA (AKA Surf City) and moved to the Savannah area almost 20 years ago and fell in love with the place...serious charm and nice people...but the best part is the coastline...South of Tybee are 70 miles of pristine undeveloped coastline...just amazing. One of America's best kept secrets...
Also in Savannah we have latino restaurants, jamaican restaurants, black american restaurants, filipino, korean... So much delicious food! Especially the korean, especially the jamaican... omg. A lot of white people go to these restaurants as well, so if it was your intention NYT to only focus on white people why not show everything?
In all of these NYT videos I see people complaining about the places shown as being "too hipster" or not representative of the city, BUT the NYT is catering to their primary audience which is middle and upper class white collar professionals living in cities. Of course they aren't going to show you the rough parts of town. They are showing the people who subscribe (i.e pay) to the NYT restaurants, bars, and stores they would be interested in
Do NOT go in the summer,100 degrees today, and it is still June oldest ,daughter went down Memorial weekend to visit her sister and brother in law, 107 degrees. No lie,107.May.A cool city, little like New Orleans, but HOT!!!I'm going in October. It is crazy hot.
+Ebony94😉 Make sure you bring your body armor and have your carry permit up to date. You're going to probably need it if you move into the historic district. Of course, they NEVER talk about that in these videos...
+Ebony94😉 Check the crime statistics in Savannah, especially the shootings downtown. The carry permit is so you can keep a firearm on you (spend more time at the range practicing), the body armor is to help protect you when the shooting starts. Welcome to Savannah, Hostess City of the South.
None of these ppl are Savannah natives, except maybe the furniture guy. This is all about increasing the tourism. This is literally like a tour of all the gentrifying forces in Savannah. None of this existed when I was born in ‘92..
Absolutely no diversity in neither the business ownership or the targeted customers, this speaks volumes to how far we have to become to be more civilized.

Abroken Heart the only black person in the first few minutes was putting down a plate. That’s how they wanna see us.
It’s also because this place is mostly white. And so is it’s history

They all sound northern; must be imports.
ltcajh Shhh, don't tell anyone, but we're secretly invading the South and improving it!
Infinite Sky and wanting to build modern, 30 story buildings in Charleston... smh. Move here, but don’t take away the southern charm.
Actually here you don't really find southern accents!
