The Loser's Lounge Tribute to Bette Midler and Barry Manilow. This is my version of Bette Midler's version of the Andrew Sisters' version of The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B! Featuring Jeff Hermanson on trumpet, Connie Petruk and Tricia Scotti on vocals.
This performance is dedicated to my Mom, Cindy Joseph, as it was all her idea. As a kid I loved this song, loved the Andrew Sisters, loved Bette Midler and loved dressing up in a 40's style. My mom was a gifted makeup artist and always indulged my costume visions. She used to do my hair up for me and I had a little polka dot dress that I'd bop around in to this song.
Mom had just bought the military style dress I'm wearing in the show. When I told her Loser's Lounge was doing Bette Midler she lit up and said emphatically, "You HAVE to do Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B and wear my dress!!!"
My Mom passed away from complications with a very rare form of sarcoma before she got to see the show. I hope she saw it from where she is now and I thank her for giving me something fun and joyful to do during a very sad time. I'm also thankful to Joe McGinty for letting me do this for her in the show. It was an honor to fulfill her vision. I love her and I miss goofing off and dancing around with her so, so much. That's something we were always very good at doing together.
