R U realizing what Your Saying
Players had to Change and Adjust a Check all of a sudden after decades checking for Position.
When the Coaches started ( Adjusting) the Stats in the late 80's and 90's, the Player that was supposed to Cover the Far Offensive Corner wasn't in position anymore and the Goalies started beating the Players in the Corner, WHY?
The Buddy System started Screwing Up Hockey Badly when they had to put in the Trapezoids.
This way the Fans can't see the Stat Fixing that is Killing the NHL
Most Players injured in all those Checks were on Their Wrong Stick Side and Open for a Blind sided Check
It is the NHL endangering everybody in the Wrong Positions, WHY?

I mean kicking a netminder in the head deliberately, let alone it being a ledgendary goalie like Chris Osgood.. thats rough to see. Pisses me right off that his name is on the greatest trophy..

Every Stanley cup team had a guy similar to him . The game is so physical teams need ppl like that to go all the way . I hate dirty plays but within reason they do play a fundamental role in a championship team . As shitty as it is lol

Great video. As much as a Torres video would be great. Shorter videos about certain instances would be great. Steve Downie torpedo hit against Dean Mcammond.
Or a video on players who have between 985-999 games. Like Mike Modanno and Dean Mcammond.
Or a video on Phil Kessel trying to chop down John Scott

Evander Kane is somebody who I get why people hate him. But I will *Always* respect him for beating the shit out of Mat Cooke. Love that guy,

As a Wild fan, I remember Cooke's hit on Barrie. I was pretty young at the time, but I remember my parents celebrating it

Excellent in-depth look at Cooke and his shenanigans. I had forgotten how dirty he played. TBH tho he kind of pales in comparison to some of the nasty players in the 70's and 80's. Some never even tried to hide intent.
Something I find interesting about 'dirty" players is how nice some of them are off-ice. From what I've read Marchand comes to mind.

I think you're 100% correct regarding the dirty play of previous decades.

thats cause cooke was right the nhl produced their playstyle and made space for it. the rules are not their responcibility so the anger shoulda always been precisely targeted at the nhl and its recklessness. to put it in perspective it took longer for helmets to be mandatory in the nhl than THE NFL where concussions run rampant even today with rules.

It’s a toss up between Matt Cooke and Sean Avery with dishonorable mentions to Steve Ott and Brad Marchand.

I saw Steve Ott's only hat trick game. Later I got him to autograph the ticket.

Cooke was dirty as hell, but I still think Rafi Torres was worse.

41 games still stands as the longest suspension for an on-ice offense in the salary cap era, so there is a strong argument.

Never liked Colin Campbell as department of player safety. Shanahan was way better and consistent with disciplinary actions.

He was dirty, but it’s tough to put all the blame on him. If he’s that dirty all teams have to do is just not sign him, and if that’s what he has to do to stay in the league then that’s what he does. He’s dirty, but him being allowed to do what he did is only half his fault.
