I usually try to. Two things tend to happen that cause me not to. First, it's not easy to change speed on the fly on this radio. If I'm using a radio like the KX2 I just turn the knob and slow down. Can't do that on this radio easily so you have to add Farnsworth. That leads me to point two. I generally don't send with Farnsworth, so when I'm in a groove I may forget to add it. I try, but I don't always remember to.
It's not up to the standards of any of those radios yet. It's not bad, but Yu has some work to do before it's a truly good CW rig. It'll never be as good as the Elecraft radios since it uses relays.
Holy smokes that double almost identical callsign threw me off. I was thinking is this one of those short path long path same station echos? I didn't realize it wasn't the same station till you put it up on the screen.
😂😂😂😂 I have had my MC 750 vertical fall over from the wind too many times . Out West I’m barely lucky to activate sweeping bands from 40-10m in an hour.😂 great audio
Great activation and good CW. I hope I will have some time this winter to learn CW. That FX-4CR is super nice little rig.
Thanks Evan. Appreciate these videos!
Absolutely! My pleasure
I’ve added some 1 lb hand weights that I can attach to the bottom of each tripod leg…keeps my telescoping verticals up in the air. Cheap solution.
That's actually a really good idea!
I enjoyed this activation. Thank you for sharing these.
Absolutely! You're welcome
Nice video Evan.
You mentioned a fresh firmware update on your unit. Can you provide a link to the firmware you used?

Great job on the video. Will help people's code practice
Any reason you don’t seem to slow down to the speed of the person you’re receiving? I thought that was kind of a standard practice.

What CW key are you using here ? I'm trying to start learning CW. Thanks.
That's a BaMaTech TP-III: www.bamatech.net/morsetasten/bamakey-tp-iii-twin-paddle-key-grau.html?language=en
How do you like this radio as far as CW? I have the KX2, KX1 and the IC 705 already, is this radio comparable?

Thank you so much for the honest reply.
@@MrCowboybud No problem at all. Thanks for watching!
Nice video Evan. Are you using the 24-3-14 Stable firmware? It seems to work well on CW.
Yes, and so far it's working well
I think elecraft should have invested in building a radio similar to this, instead of the KH1. Listening 😊 73!
Agreed. I like the KH1......but I don't like the sidetone or the price lol

LOL it threw me for a loop too

It happens more often than I'd like LOL. I did get a big WRC tripod which helps some, but it'll still blow over with enough wind.
@@EvanK2EJT get some easy to deploy guys.
@@KD9ZHF I can't put anything into the ground or around a tree at that particular park, otherwise I'd have it staked down.
@@EvanK2EJT boo.
