I cannot believe you used a pair of pliers instead of a 7/16 " wrench on that lantern generator. The right tool for the job. K9POW - Rusty in eastern Tennessee

Did you do a video for cleaning the fuel pickup? I couldn't find it

I have a 228E I can hear pressure and when I light it it burns for just a few seconds and that's it if I leave lighter near it I can see flame moving from pressure coming up. Holds pressure and I cleaned generator and cleaned the fuel pick up tube. What could be the problem?

I have the same lantern. Replaced the generator, took the frame off the fount and ran a brush tip through all the tubes. It's still flaming up. It runs ok with the valve barely open but when I open it up it won't stop flaming. I have let it run for mire than five minutes to let the generator heat up and still I get flames. Is there anything inside the tank that would be causing this problem?

Try a new generator they are only about 14.dollars and very important to fuel mixture and fuel flow.

What would cause a lantern to pulse?

I have the same problem on a 288. Cleaned the generator and ran a brush through the burner tube and mixing chamber. Everything is good and clean but this thing won't stop pulsing. This lantern is actually in fantastic shape and appears to have virtually no run time on it. It looks like it was used once and put away for 25+ years (it's a '94). All articles and sites I have found say this is due to a dirty generator but this one could not be cleaner. I hate the idea of spending $30 on a replacement generator for a lantern that cost me $20 without knowing for sure this is the cause.

Pulsing usually means you have pumped it up too much. If you over pressurize the tank, it will pulse. Also you could have a dirty generator or the asbestos or cardboard tube has too much carbon built up on it. Rusty in eastern Tennessee

It’s the cardboard tube inside the generator.

Only wrenches that hide are 7/16" and 10mm!
