The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an open world action-adventure video game based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, and the 2014 film of the same name. It is a sequel to 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man, and is set in the same continuity, different from that of the films. The game's main storyline loosely follows the plot of the film, and introduces new threats for Spider-Man to face, primarily crime lord Kingpin, and serial killer Cletus Kasady, who has a twisted sense of justice and is regarded as a dark reflection of Spider-Man. Villains from the film as well as fan-favorite, classic Marvel characters are woven together in a twisted web of adrenaline-fueled, free-roaming, web-slinging action that puts players on a collision course with an evil far beyond Spider-Man’s reckoning. Play as Peter Parker, Spider-Man’s citizen alter-ego persona as you investigate the motivations of multifaceted villains. New web-swing mechanic includes expanded web-shooter capabilities and chemical properties that allow you to freeze and blow up items on impact. Explore and take on villains in a more expansive Manhattan cityscape than the previous Amazing Spider-Man.
Two years into his superhero career, Peter Parker/Spider-Man resumes his search for Uncle Ben's killer, Dennis Carradine, but he is soon murdered by somebody known as the Carnage Killer. Later, while responding to an attack on the Oscorp building and battling both the Russian Mob and a rival gang led by Herman, Spider-Man saves electric engineer Max Dillon, who is very fond of him, and encounters Schultz again, now calling himself the "Shocker" after donning a pair of vibro-shock gauntlets. Upon defeating the Shocker, Spider-Man learns that there is a gang war involving all of the city's major gangs, and that everyone is trying to gain the upper hand by stealing Oscorp technology.
Eventually, Spider-Man and Kraven track downCletus Kasady, who claims that he and Spider-Man are very alike, before being defeated and imprisoned at the Ravencroft Institute. There, Kasady is experimented on with a red substance code-named "Venom" and becomes the supervillain Carnage.

This game wasn’t really all that bad. Learned from the mistakes of its first game and improved. I used to play this all the time just swinging around. The only thing I hated was the voice acting

@@manidontknow123 no i agree with u. The 1st game was way better. I owned the 1st one on Xbox 360, but then we sold it to get the Xbox 1. I got the Xbox 1 on Christmas and thats when i realized...MY PARENTS SOLD THE GAME!!! It really upset me bc there were sites on Google where they say u can/are allowed to play Xbox 360 games on an Xbox !. I tried with a different Xbox 360 game and it said, "This Games is not Available for this Device." It's really weird. But anyways...yeah the web swinging camera wasn't as loose as the one in this game but the cutscene quality was way better than this 1. It really does suck to see a second part of a game with bad graphics even though it should've improved from the last 1....but oh well....this game could've been better with the movement flow. When this guy is playing, the thugs and boss characters running movements look weird. They look very glitchy i guess, especially when they turn. If feels like i'm playing those really old games where when u get to your destination, your character walks in place for a couple seconds, then turns slowly to the right or left and then the cutscene happens. It's kinda choppy and i hate it. But other than that...I really like the extension of the powers, and suit abilities, kinda like the Ps4 version but less detailed...u know? The game is pretty good when it comes to the fighting and combos and stuff like that. I really wish i could've played this one as well just to see how it would feel after watching this video....just for the experience. Welp..thats MY OPINION of this game, but if u agree with any of this plz like my comment and i hope u guys will understand my thoughts😁

Call me crazy, but I think this game actually sets up Max Dillon better than the movie did. Here he actually gets a chance to be Spider-Man's eyes and ears in an emergency situation where Spidey needs his help, so it actually kinda feeds more into Max's later obsession with him and considering his best friend instead of the "eyes and ears" thing being a one-off line.

Web of shadows was a gem for its time. Even today i cant think of any Spiderman game that does combat and web swinging as good as Web of Shadows

For as much hate as this game gets, I can't help but genuinely see a fetal Marvel's Spider-Man in it. The big differences are passion and time. It is clear from just starting up Spidey 2018 that Insomniac had a true and honest love for Spider-Man, his mythos, and his character. Every minute of that game feels crafted specifically to feel like a real Spider-Man experience, in everything from the combat to his interactions on the city streets, and they obviously had the writing talent to back it up. By contrast, this game feels like exactly what it was meant to be: A product made to sell a movie that in itself did not understand Spider-Man either. There are a lot of good ideas here, but the polish needed to execute them properly was lacking.
The reason why this game wasn't perfect isn't because the developers didn't care or had no passion to make a spiderman game it was because of Activision, benox (the guys who made shatterd dimensions and edge of time) didn't have time to make this game, Activision forced them to release this game with the movie's release (a few weeks before the film) this game was made under a year with a small tight budget and under the pressure of Activision while spiderman ps4 had a whopping 4 years of development and a big budget and lots of freedom, if spider-man ps4 was made under the same circumstances as tasm2 it would've been bad.

I know this game gets so much hate but it was the first spider man game I played. Because of that, and because of the great time I remember having with it, it will always have a special place in my heart. Sure the graphics don't hold up and spider man looks like he's on some kind of drugs when he talks but this wasn't actually that bad. It isn't underrated but it still gets too much hate
I used to play this game alot on my pc. My main is spiderman noir. I use him because he has alot of stealth when maxed out and its easier for me to sneak attack an enemy instead of dying and redoing the whole quest again.

@@niflheim1-0 Play Insomniacs Spider-Man games instead. Start with Spider-Man and then after that play Spider-Man Miles Morales. The sequel to Spider-Man is currently in development and it's the third instalment in the franchise. You need a PS4 or PS5. Get the PS5. You can't play the third game when it comes out if you get a PS4. Plus the first two games are on the PS5 with better and improved graphics.
